"I do believe you are right, Sir," the healer looked back at Ally and then picked up the bowl of blood carrying it over to a table where she could gather her other supplies for the transfusion. "Though I also think that I might have backed out if you hadn't taken the matter into your own paws." She crossed back over to him and removed the bandage to see that the flow was stopping and then replaced it tying it firmly in place. "I don't supposed you're feeling well enough to help me get that gel into her bed?"

"Well why wouldn't I be?" asked the Colonel as he stood up. He rotated his arm a couple of times to restore the feeling that had been lost while he held it in the air. Carefully he bent down and picked the young haremaid up and carried her to her bed. Gently he laid her down, careful to stay away from her ankle

The healer looked on hesitantly as Sev carried Ally and laid her down. Then she hurriedly went back to rigging a bucket and a hollow reed over Jeremy's bed so the colonel wouldn't catch the worried look on her face. "You hares are made of some strong stuff. Although you should really take it easy while you can. I hear from our Miss Tamar that there's to be some sort of battle tomorrow. If it's worse than what we've seen tonight I think you'll need all your strength." She pricked Jeremy's arm with a needle and connected him to the makeshift I.V. contraption. Then as she slowly poured the blood from the bowl into the bucket she continued speaking to Sev, "You can have that bed next to your mouse friend there. I'm sure Mr. Hawkeye has things under control out on the walltop." ((ha ha))

((Mr. Hawkeye? HUH? ?)) While he was loathe to sit around and rest, Sev lay down next to Bryan's bed, twiddling his thumbs as he stared at the ceiling, thinking about Jeremy. He turned on his side so he could watch the young Lieutenant as he 'rested' but he was doing anything but. His mind was working a mile a minute, mentally reviewing the guard positions, where he had his hares, who was watching which side...

((Silas M. Hawkeye )) The healer sat in the chair that had previously been Ally's beside Jeremy's bed and dozed off as she watched her contraption work. Ally woke with a start, not knowing where she was or what was going on. It had been so long since she had slept in a bed that it felt foreign to her. She looked around the now dimly lit room and caught sight of Jeremy on the bed beside her own. She rolled off her bed and found that her ankle was still sore but it was better than what it had been. "Jeremy?" she whispered stroking his face as she had earlier. The fever seemed to be slightly less than what it had been but he was still hot. Then she looked him over and saw the contraption sticking out of his arm and connected to the now empty bucket. "What is this?!" she cried out not bothering to lower her voice for the benefit of the sleeping creatures in the room.

Sev woke up from a light doze he had slipped into. "Steady on, gel! He needed blood, and that's how we gave it to him. And why I cut myself. Sorry about that. I didn't realize you were so.....afraid of blood. If I would have known, I would have done it differently." He was slightly apologetic

Silas allowed himself a smile and a nod in return, replying, "It's alright. Can't do much about the random vermin attack, can we?" He paused. "And thanks for helping out, Garret. Hopefully we gave 'em a good scare. Um, we'll need to inform the Abbess at breakfast, though...." He looked back towards the gatehouse, then said further, "Er... Can I meet you then?" "That's fine. I need some sleep anyway. For you, however, sleep may be hard to come by tonight." Garret said, grinned again, and turned, his cloak billowing in a gust of wind. He turned back to Silas. "I would like to apologize for some of my behavior. Since my arrival here, I had been taunting you and Tamar. Only lightly, and mainly due to her distasteful prejudice against me, but still. So.... ah.... sorry." And, finished, he headed across the grounds, to the abbey.

The healer also woke and stretched, rising from the chair. She began to remove the apparatus from the procedure while she spoke calmly, "We're finished anyhow, and he seems to be doing a little better." She smiled at Ally, "How, that ankle?"
Ally looked back and forth between the otter and the hare. "It's fine," she said dismissively, refusing to be distracted. She looked back down at Jeremy. "Do you really think he's getting better?"
The healer walked around the bed to check the bandage she had applied after stitching up the lieutenant. "The stitches are holding nicely, no infection to be seen." She re-applied the bandage. "and look at him. His colour is better and the fever's down a bit. I may give him another dose of the willow bark in a bit but that's really all we can do until he wakes up. I'm afraid that is up to him." ((so do you think you can give us another hint as to what is going on in Jeremy's mind at this point?))

((Hmm....i suppose I could.....))
Jeremy made attempt after attempt to enter the gates. Always, his path was blocked by the lances of the hares. Then, the hares parted and Jeremy dashed forward, only to be restrained by a massive black paw. Boar the Fighter himself had come to prevent Jeremy's entrance to the Dark Forest. "Go back." he said, turning Jeremy around and giving him a hefty shove. The gates began to dissolve into mist, along with their guardians. His eyes opened and he drew in a ragged gasp for air

Ally with her vigilant watch of Jeremy's face was the first to notice his stirring. "Jeremy? Oh thank the seasons, Jeremy you're still with us!" Impulsively she bent down and kissed his cheek.
"Now, Miss give him a little room to breathe." The healer scolded gently and then turned happily to her revived patient, "How are you Lieutenant?"

((We need to give him plenty of orange juice! According to Sarge, that increases the body's ability to produce blood!))
Jeremy opened one eye and stared at te healer. . "I'm flippin famished." he said hoarsely. "Not to mention thirsty." Sev grinned. "Yep. He's back with us." he said, visibly relaxing for the first time since they had brought the lieutenant in.

Completely forgetting that prior to two hours ago she had never set paw in the Abbey, Ally volunteered to go. "I'll fetch ye sumthin'." She took two steps toward the door and tripped over her bandaged footpaw.
"You'll stay right here, Miss," the healer admonished gently reaching out her paw to help Ally stand back up. "We'll send some other beast to do that." She helped Ally back to her bed and then without being asked, went around and shoved Ally's bed a half meter closer to Jeremy's so that Ally could hold his paw. "and you look like you could do with a bite to eat y'self."
Until now Ally hadn't thought about the fact that it had been a couple of days since she had had a good meal but now she realized that she was pretty near starved, "Oh that would be jolly good."

Sev started to stand up to go get the food himself when he got dizzy and fell back on the bed. The blood loss had more of an effect on him than he let on. Quietly, the black mouse watched all and stood up, moving towards the door to go to the kitchens to get food for the hares.

"Oh, um, well..." The squirrel trailed off, seeing Garret leave before he could say a thing in edgewise regarding his apology. He shrugged to himself and reasoned that the fox had things to do as well. He then turned about and slowly opened the door. Seeing no one at first, he whispered,
"Tamar?"
Hearing no answer, he entered and closed the door behind him, and saw the squirrelmaid fast asleep on the gatehouse bed. He smiled, knowing how busy Tamar had been the past few days. But a small part of him was... disappointed at this development. And so he pondered, considering waking the squirrelmaid up or not. After a few seconds, he reached a decision. If things did go badly tomorrow, he just wanted her to see him not going out of the door as before, but by her side. He would wake her, but only for a moment.
"Tamar?" He said again, still smiling a little as he knelt bby the bed and observed her sleeping form.

Tamar woke with a smile at the sound of his voice. "Hmm?" she said softly. "I guess I drifted off didn't I." She didn't make a move to rise but reached out her paw to touch his face. "You know you could probably use a few winks yourself." She sighed and then chuckled. "There's plenty of room here if you don't want to go back out into the cold." She gestured with her paw towards the rest of the huge bed of which she was only occupying a small portion. "I probably won't be very exciting company but we can at least be together before . . ." She didn't want to think about what they would face in the morning.
---------------------------------
The healer rushed over to Sev, again struck with a pang at having suggested he injure himself. She started to check his bandage but looked up when she noticed Bryan headed towards the door. "You can go down to the kitchens to ask that they send something up," she told the mouse. "but I want somebeast else to bring up the trays. That shoulder still needs rest."
