Age: 30 Years
Species: Stoat/Weasel
Gender: Male
Allegiance: Neutral
Appearance:
Truglim on first glance looks like a normal stoat. In other words he has the shorter wider tail that ends in a black tip than would a full weasel. He does however have the stature and bearing of a weasel. He has chestnut colored brown eyes, and a shallow scar runs across his chest where one of the weasels who had taunted him got up the courage to strike him with a sword. Truglim's clothing is plain and simple, he doesn't have much to wear.Belongings:
Truglim owns an old cutlass that has several nicks along the blade. His most prized possession is a neckless that once belonged to his mother before she died. He keeps it with his at all times.Job or Position:
Corsair Helmsbeast, Steersbeast.Personality:
Quiet and Reserved. Doesn't fit in well with other weasels, because of his heritage. Because of being taunted and laughed at, Truglim grew up with a bitter attitude toward any he doesn't know. Especially weasels. Though he is reserved and shy, he is very friendly to those that have earned his trust. But earning it is very difficult. He may seem to get along fine with someone, but he still wouldn't trust them. Even someone that acted kind to him most likely wouldn't be able to become friends with him.History and Background Information:
Truglim was born on a small island in the middle of the great sea. The island was home to a tribe of weasels and his mother was the daughter of one of the most respected families. She was well respected herself until she took up with a sailor who came upon the island. His greatest offense to the islanders being that he was a stoat. Still the weaselmaid loved him and was distressed beyond belief when he left the island because he had left her with no hope of his return, carrying his child. She was also left almost entirely friendless among her tribe except for one other weaselmaid who was an orphan herself and had compassion on her friend and the child she carried. Ashreign was there by her friend's side when she gave birth to the little whelp and watched the poor young mother slip away to dark forest.Any other details:
Ashreign brought the whelp to his grandparents to raise as they had raised her and they agreed grudgingly to give him a place under their roof but she watched over him as if he were her own. Even if she couldn't make them love their grandson she could at least see to it that he had everything he needed to survive.
The Stoat, as he was called by nearly everybeast on the island, grew up shunned by his own kin. He dreamed of sailing away on a ship as he had heard his father had done so many seasons before. And when he was still young enough to be called a dibbun he got his wish, though not in the way he expected.
The great pirate captain Rawnwave came to the small island looking for oar slaves and he found plenty among the strong young beasts. He also took as his captives Ashreign the weaselmaid and the Stoat. Ashreign spoke up for Stargazer as she alone called him for his great eyesight and love of watching the heavens. And Captain Rawnwave took pity on them both. The Stoat he made his cabinwhelp and the weaselmaid he sent to the galley to help the cook. He also noticed the talents the Stoat possessed and dubbed him Truglim for his true vision that helped the captain to be aware of anything on the horizon before any other beast could sight it.
Truglim also sighted the growing love affair between Ashreign and the Captain who was also a weasel. He was too young to understand all of what went on between them but he understood enough to know that she was with child when the Captain left she and the cook Barlow on the island of Sampetra. Truglim couldn't help but be reminded of the story of his own mother being left on an island by her lover to raise a whelp alone. He was angry with the Captain for doing such a disgraceful thing but he soon learned that the Captain had his reasons and planned to marry Ashreign on his return.
The Captain was a different beast when he came back on board and informed the crew that they would be heading to his home island of Terramort. Truglim was nearly afraid of him though he knew that the Captain would never hurt him. He knew that the Captain's rages were due to the fact that he missed Ashreign and there was something else something that he was dreading having to do when he reached Terramort.
But the ship never reached Terramort.
Truglim doesn't remember much about the storm that sunk the ship. But he recalls the sensations of drifting through the sea, clinging to a piece of wood. He would have died had it not been for washing up on Akkladia. There he began his career over and went on to become the steersbeast on the Death Pearl.
