Appearance:
Simon the Wanderer is a tall, handsome, strongly-built, and able-bodied pine marten. His fur is fine brown from head to his bushy tail, and his throat and ears are creamy yellow. He wears a simple dark-green cloak and a brown belt. His face is very calm and serene with slightly blue eyes that are very dark and deep. Some say that he bears striking resemblance to Emperor Ublaz Mad Eyes, save his eyes and a clean scar running down the right side of his face.Belongings:
Simon has a canteen and a small bag for survival purposes. For weapons, he has only a staff and a sling with a pouch of pebbles. He also has a sturdy dagger he uses in heavy combat situations. Simon is a master of hand-to-hand combat, and is extremely proficient with his fists and legs, as well as his staff.Job or Position:
Simon has a vast and intriguing career. He started off as a prince in an Empire far, far South, much beyond Southsward. Then he was an oar slave. After which, he became a freedom fighter for slaves. Then, he became a simple mercenary. And finally, a treasure hunter.Personality:
Simon is as gentle and calm as his face suggests. He generally avoids combat, relying on his stealth skills he learned as a freedom fighter, but will engage in full combat when necessary. He enjoys helping other beasts with problems and will never pass a beast in trouble. He is a strong and wise soul, and though he avoids battle, he never feels afraid when defending another beast or himself. Simon has a gift of perception, and can often see beasts how they truly are. He is kind and speaks with eloquence. He's got a big weakness in his personality, though: he is headstrong. He may be smart, but he often reacts before thinking things through. This can get him into trouble.History and Background Information:
Simon the Wanderer began as a headstrong and foolish child. He never listened to anyone except his beloved parents. His father, Emperor Simon Lunarhigh the First was a powerful and fiery ruler of an small empire called the Lunitor Empire. He ruled with an wise paw and was mortal enemies with an island southwest of the coast. The island was a haven for corsairs and pirates who often tried to siege the Lunitor Palace. Emperor Simon the First was not evil, instead he was actually very kind to his people and would defend them to the last.Any other details:
When Simon II was six years old, the island had a massive army of vermin and attacked the Empire. It was a massacre, and Simon's parents and closest friends were slain in the battle that reached the very throne room of the Palace. Many resisted and only some surrendered, which in turn, were enslaved. Simon was heartbroken and furious and he attempted to kill the leader of the pirates, Captain Garlow the Fierce. Simon ran from his hiding place and stabbed Garlow in the thigh with a poisoned knife a dead pirate had dropped. The poison and the grievous wound caused the Searat's leg to become deformed and gave him a limp for the rest of his life.
In return, Garlow the Fierce put him at an oar as a slave, which is a fate worse than death.
For years and seasons, the vessel in Garlow's fleet that Simon was chain to sailed upward north. Eventually, when Simon was eighteen, a mighty storm arose and caused two of the three ships to wreck - Garlow's flag vessel, and the one Simon was aboard. Much of the crews were slain in the storm and wrecking, and the breaking of the ships against the rocks allowed many of the slaves to free themselves. Simon and his Mentor(one of the Generals in the Lunitor Empire, who had taught Simon everything he knows in combat and strategy aboard the ship during rest periods) jumped into the water and swam for the near land. Many slaves died in the rough, cold water, but Simon was strong. he and his Mentor got to land.
To his surprise, Captain Garlow the Fierce was nearby. He was berating his officers for their clumsiness when Simon tackled him and started beating him down with rage. Only a few of the officers had weapons on them, and the General was a veteran fighter. It was a fierce battle, with the tides changing madly between Garlow and Simon, Garlow being savage and experienced, and Simon being strong and crazy with anger. Finally, the searat grabbed a dagger from one of the officers and slashed at Simon. The blade struck true and Simon stumbled backward, thus receiving his scar. Simon's Mentor had finished off the officers when Garlow was about to stab Simon. The General threw his body at the Captain. He took the stab for Simon, dying in the process. Garlow the Fierce ran away while Simon cradled his friend's head in his hands. The dying Mentor's last words were, "Garlow has your father's crown. Get it back."
A teary-eyed Simon turned his head up to sky and bellowed out with rage and sorrow, "Gaarloooooooooww!!!!"
A few seasons after the incident, Simon had realized where he was. He had heard of the legendary land of Mossflower, but he never saw it with his own eyes. It was beautiful.
Simon had vowed to recover his father's crown from the vile Garlow the Fierce. He decided to become a freedom fighter that attacked slavers and freed creatures once as unfortunate as himself. Through the training of the Mentor, Simon had grown to be kind-hearted and helpful, never putting himself before other creatures. He dropped his regal name, going for something more friendly: Simon the Wanderer. His hope was that he would one day meet with Garlow again, and he would fullfill the oath he swore to his Mentor.
Since Simon has mainly operated in the North and West, he has only passed Redwall a few times. But talk of a large searat with a deformed leg and a limp have sprung up in southern Mossflower country, causing him to move down south and west.
He usually befriends beasts on his travels.
Simon isn't a good or bad cook. Just average
