The Wraith

Now i must warn you, this is a grim and horrible tale indeed. It leaves no happy ending and is not one to tell to your young ones at night. It's a tale that is of evil and the hunger for power. Here is the story of the wraith that came from the fox....
Long ago, near the middle of the Middle Kingdoms. There used to be a big town, surrounded by stone walls, a place that was located nearby a large dark bog that used to be a grave yard long ago. The Bog was never a place to be, it was believed to house the undead! Dead beasts that walk out and snatch travelers who try coming to this town at night! It was also believed to be full of monsters and evil spirits, but nobeast, believer or not, ever went into that bog and came back out to prove such things were truth or lie....
Though the bog is an important part of this tale, we will leave it be for the time being and move on to an important character of this tale. A magical marlfox who was claimed to do even more than just turn invisible, for he was even more magical than his brethren! Known by both townsbeasts, travelers and merchants alike for his amazing powerness and skill in the magic arts. Capable of spitting out fire without a torch, turn leaves from brown and dry to green and alive, heal cuts and slashes with only his paws, make things disappear and reappear like himself, control the wind, control the weak willed, and even make objects and beasts float up in the air!
But his most greatest trick was his ability to split himself in two! He would stand before hordes of gasping and wide eyed beasts with his own soul standing next to him! The marlfoxes' tricks earn him fame and fortune!
But there was something about this trick, something bad! That even he himself never knew, it being that every time he did this trick. His soul would become more and more easily separated and independent from his mortal body til one day, he did the trick and his soul, having his mischievous personality, emotions and feelings, fled and left him!
The marlfox continued his work and research on magic, but soon found out he felt nothing in anything he did, without his soul. He felt almost no emotions and therefore had no happiness, sadness, anger, almost everything in anything he did nor say.
Meanwhile, his soul. Containing his emotions, but no conscience to balance or allow good emotions and feelings to triumph over bad, soon become wicked, hateful and soon. Evil. It grew black and blue, pale, foul, and demonic. For it's emotions of love, sadness and kindness were overwhelmed and destroyed by bad emotions.
The marlfox wizard begun to grow frail, weak and slowly was walking on the path to insanity. No longer caring or anything anymore, he withdrew into his home and never came out and as he grew more and more weak of mind, his magic power would become more and more uncontrollable.
His soul however, grew only more powerful and violent, becoming wrathful and bloodthirsty. It made it's home in the bog inside a large, ancient tomb during the day, but would come out every night to steal children, murder travelers and terrorize the roads.
Every night, it would visit the town, townsbeasts would hide in they're homes as it moved from shadow to shadow, moaning, screaming and screeching horrible sounds and evil thoughts. It was so strong that it would leave deep scratches in the stone walls, break off window cabinets and to any unfortunate townsbeasts it caught outside on the streets, it would leave twisted and broken into disgusting and horrible angles and shapes. DEAD! It would become known by everybeast as "The Wraith."
Eventually the marlfox went completely insane, his magic out of his control because of this. His magic sapped his strength and life as it destroyed the town and almost everybeast inside it, crumbling buildings and turning stone into dust. The marlfox died from exhaustion and a broken mind.
Because he had no soul, nothing to serve as a vessel to escort him to Dark Forest or Hellgates. He faded away into nothingness. Never ever able to live an afterlife, but his soul. Having a mind of it's own and completely uneeding of it's job to escort. Would survive him and live on inside the bog till this very day. Staying inside the tomb at day and coming out to hunt travelers at night.
Whats left of the town is gone now, completely taken over by the bog, stone and bones buried under grass, ground and swamp. It's as if it never existed in the first place, but beasts remember it and the tale that survives and still is famous in the Middle Kingdoms. Some healers and gatherers of herbs believe and even claim to have even heard The Wraith's screams and screeches of rage, and seen the deep scratches in the trees....
Heed my warnings when i say to thee, that those who be near the bog at the blanket of night, will disappear and NEVER be seen again! The Wraith has existed there, killing beasts for ages and ages and will always continue to do so.... Forever!
