Erm lets see:
In Pearls of Lutra it says that the Pine Martin (whose name alludes me) was the first to 'stumble upon the island' (approx) so I'd guess deserted except for monitors.
I'd like to see Terramort as a sea rat haven and Loamhedge would be a good abbey.

Just a thought. Salamanderstron or however it is spelled if i remember correctly. Was born mainly to defend the shores against seascum, if that was such a case. I believe it may not sound too silly that the births of both that mountain and Fort Bladegirt may not be too far apart from one another. It could safely be assumed that Fort Bladegirt may have been just nearly as old as the mountain fortress was until the pirate fort was gutted in one of the books. Hell. the fort was carved out of the very rocks of the island even! Correct me if i'm wrong. Mariel of Redwall came after the events of Mossflower right? xD I would happily be quick to make an appropriate ruler for said fort of Terramort if desired. ^^

thanks guys! yes! great ideas! keep sending them this way. since the staff aren't always on at the same time it can be hard to know everybody's ideas if you just post them up in the c-box. if you put them up here we can all bounce ideas off eachother and get something really good going.
yeah so Sampetra is enter at your own risk of becoming monitor chow
Loamhedge will be an active abbey but in Mossflower when the creatures arrived from there they were all mice. Do you think other species were allowed? Maybe other goodbeasts were taken care of but not accepted as brothers and sisters?
One of the main qualities of the goodbeasts in Mossflower at this time is that they're kind of tribal and keep to their own kind. I'd like to know if this is the same all over the 'world' or if there are sheltered utopias like Noonvale where all manner of creatures are accepted.
and Terramort yes Cole i think that's a brilliant idea! it makes perfect sense for Terramort to have been a longstanding enemy of Sala. and yes Mariel came after Mossflower because Dandin is a descendant of Gonff. I say go for it. It would be good for our badgerlord to have an equal and opposite enemy.

Well Bella stayed with the Loamhedge mice for a while so clearly they weren't adverse to treating others but it always calls them 'mice'. I think its a shame to limit it like that but I think if we're trying to stick to redwall cannon it should only be mice.
I think we should have Noonvale going as it appeared in Martin the Warrior which is pre-Mossflower and it had been around for a while. But we can't have vermin discover it or a lot of people find it either.
Vermin normally think Sala is run by fire lizards (could open up an interesting sub-plot with monitors?) so you need to be careful about making Terramort a direct rival to it.

Oh i think i know a way to deal with that and put on some heat Skip. Heck, apparently not all pirates believe in the fire lizards myth (Take Ripfang (Mossflower) and Wildbrush for example) so if those guys were not fooled. I could make a character that won't...... OR maybe i could make it interesting.
Anyone like the idea of a Raccoon, Tayra or Cacomistle? We could have a vote maybe? xD

I thought that Ripfang was the same one in Lord Brocktree that escapes at the end. You know Doomseye's brother. I always thought that age was a bit of a stretch but that was the authors perogitive.
But I have no problem with you making a charcater who isn't scared but it would be better if his captains were petrified!

That's the beauty of pirate superstition and beliefs. Some will still be "sane" and be scared, but other will be brainwashed and believe that inside that mountain is something that HAS to be released from it's prison.....
Yeah. This is a result of constant mouth running and manipulation on the New World Pirate King's part, due to his own deranged belief that the Great Fire Serpent that "disappeared" long ago from the fire temple is indeed, trapped in the Badger Mountain. xD
See? Already got the main idea of it shorted in. xD
