Tamar succeded in waking Bryan. Slowly, his eyes opened and he groaned. "Osik" he muttered, sitting up. The pain in his shoulder made him put his back to the battlements and pant heavily.
Sev watched the woods carefully. He had his longbow ready and was looking for any sign of an enemy to call the attack.

OOC: I'll post up Zalutar's bunch the post after this one...
Silas rushed to their aid, helping Tamar support the mouse. "Who shot ye, mate?" He asked, trying not to move the mouse's wounded shoulder about too much. If that was a vermin shaft, and Bryan was inside the grounds, then that meant that either there was somebeast inside, or there was a bowbeast out there with incredible aim. But when he examined theshaft, he discovered it to be a redwall-crafted one. Someone had shot the mouse from the walltop, perhaps mistakenly. "Here, let's get him back inside..." He said to Tamar, gesturing to the main building with an ear.

Tamar tested the mouse's weight on her shoulder. "I think I can handle it. You need to be out here." She knew it was more important for Silas to stay with his troops than it was for her to be there. And he'd probably rather she was away from the action as well. She didn't want to be left out of it all together though now that she had been trained. "I'll come back as soon as he's settled."

The squirrel nodded, seeing her reasoning. "Just tell me if you need any help, though." He said, offering his or somebeast's assistance with carrying the mouse over to the infirmary. He stood at the ready, waiting until Tamar and Bryan departed before he himself walked over to Sev on the opposite walltops.
--------------------------------------
Zalutar the fox growled. This wasn't good. They were spotted, he was now sure of it. Dark shapes moved back and forth in a hurried manner on the walltops, carrying bow, arrow, and spears. After waiting and thinking, he called Ringtail the ferret back to him. "Tell Grigg that the attack's off. Damn woodlanders spotted somebeast..." Rage boiled up inside him. He was this close to Redwall, and he had yet to lift a claw against it. Maybe tomorrow...

"Come on then," She said reassuringly to the mouse and walking slowly with him toward the abbey building "We have some of the best healers around. They'll get you fixed up in not time and back out here to fight some more." She knew that beasts like this would much rather be fighting than 'resting' in a hospital. She looked back up at the wall at Silas, remembering that he had also been a patient not long ago. She wondered how his leg was feeling now.

((Oh, just so you guys know, I don't mind some minor godmodding. as long as its not getting me injured or killed, its not really a problem))
Bryan stumbled off with Tamar, trying to keep as little weight on her as possible. Once they got to the Abbey doors, he said "I need to take a rest.", leaning on the walls of the Abbey.
Sev looked into the woods. His superb eyes caught the backwards movement of the vermin. 'Hmm...They have a canny leader. He has realized that we know he's coming, so he called off the assault' he thought. Out loud, he said "Pass the word. The vermin are retreating and regrouping. They will probably create a new strategy and attack soon. Remain on alert. Sleep in shifts." Sev walked over to Phil. "Run to the kitchens and ask them to bring our meals out to the walltops if its not too much trouble to them." he ordered, striding on a patrol of the walltops.

As soon as he was completely sure that Tamar had Bryan well away from the walltops, he himself jogged over to the other walltops, meeting Tom on the way, who was sitting with head in paws. He stopped by the mouse and knelt. "'Ey, Tom, what's the matter?"
Tom looks up at the squirrel, sighing. "Did I kill 'im, Silas? I'm... real sorry..." He appeared to know that he had shot Bryan, and as Silas put that together, he put a paw on the mouse's shoulder. "He'll be alright, Tom. He's just injured. Mistakes happen to everybeast, you know."
Tom nodded. "Right. Thanks."
The squirrel pats him on the shoulder once more in reassurance, then left him to his own thoughts as he continued along the walltops to arrive beside Sev. "What happened? How many were there?" He began to ask questions.

"Take as long as you need," Tamar said to the mouse with a sigh but she was actually very impatient to be done with him so she could return to Silas's side. She looked for him on the wall tops now. He exhibited such an air of command and she was proud of him.
Phil saluted smartly especially since scoff had been mentioned. "Yes, Sah. Right away, Sah. Army marches on its stomach and all that blinkin' rot, Sah." The young hare smiled at the older on and ran off down the wall steps and across the abbey lawn.

((How many are actually there?))
Sev regarded Silas. "I can't rightly say how many there were. I saw some shadows, but I have no definite numbers. Do you have any estimates?" he said, still scanning the woodlands
Bryan struggled to his feet, and took a deep breath. "Okay, I'm ready to keep going," he said.

"I don't know." Silas replied, shrugging as he did so. "Normally bands of vermin in Mossflower would have ten or twelve at most..." He cast a glance at the woodlands as well. The leaves stood still, the moon shining down upon everything. Nothing was there, it seemed, even to Silas' eyes, which, as his surname suggested, were keen indeed for noticing subtleties such as vermin in the brush nearby.

"Alright come on then. It's not far just at the top of the first flight of stairs." Tamar's tone is some what more tense as she moves farther away from Silas but she still gives the utmost care to leading the mouse across the hall and up the stairs to the infirmary.

They're gone, great, now I don't have to shed more blood. At least for now. Garret though, coughing, due to the cold, and his frayed old cloak. "Hot food sounds quite nice. And I've heard about the scoff here. Mmmm"

Bryan staggered into the Infirmary, swayed on his feet, and collapsed on top of the first bed in there.
Sev looked at Silas. "If there's no attack tonight, they may try to parlay tomorrow. Don't agree to anything that puts them in a good position. Make sure that no Dibbuns get out or they'll use them to get inside." he said tersely.

"With all due respect, that's just common sense..." The squirrel replies, knowing that he or someone else would've seen to that anyway. However, he was a bit irritated, as most are in the middle of the night. But, there was also a vermin threat showing up. They were out there. It was only a matter of time... "I think we can learn from the past on our own."

Phil looked around the kitchen greedily. He had eaten supper in the Great Hall earlier in the evening but hadn't been allowed to venture this far into the glorious temple to scoff. He could have grazed his way around the room happily for quite sometime but he had been given a direct order from his officer. After a few moments of staring around and drooling he noticed a small mouse putting a large loaf into one of the ovens with a long paddle. "Good beast, the Sarge has asked me to procure a morsel or two for the poor creatures out securin' the blinkin' walls." ((anybody want to NPC a kitchen helper for me?))
Tamar wanted to leave immediately and go back out to the wall but she thought it best to stay and make sure that the mouse was okay before she split. She sat down in one of the chairs along the wall of the infirmary. She didn't realize till she sat, exactly how tired she was. I could close my eyes just for a moment, she thought, but it wasn't really up to her. Her lids had closed and her breathing settled into a regular rhythm before she could even finish the thought.
