Walon shook his head slightly in amusement as the pretty young ferretmaid scurried off to the kitchen to get ice for his "wound." It wasn't serious, just some swelling. But she was being kind enough to offer, so he would not refuse.

The ferret queen was not amused in the slightest "In time Drask, in time and when you least expect it to come...." She would get him, like she always did in the end. Drask may have been the faster rabbit, but the adder always needed just one bite....
Unfortunately, this one caught her when she least expected it, it turned from political ideas to a sudden shot at her in less than a moment's notice. For now, she merely wanted to get back on subject. "Anyway, you could also try to find and forge bigger alliances too. I know you have my family, but in a fight, two fists are better than one. The bigger the buddies you have, the more weak and feeble the others around you feel and therefore. The more submissive...." Another big idea by her, the problem with her idea though was it required a powerful, but easily manipulated ally..... such a beast would likely have to be some heir to the throne and that is far from experienced.....
Larka didn't get lucky when it came to finding out things other beasts would not want her to find out, but Krauser did, least he believed he did. "You know that slave wench Jayne? You know? The one that always acts and looks like a cat in a room full of dogs whenever I or any other male beast has to be stuck in the same room with her? Well, now ever since Vrelt came here she has been acting like a cat stuck in a room full of WOLVES. Just completely weird now. Not to far back and she actually tried to break out of my grip when I stopped her to find out why she was running like a maniac to the kitchens, She said she had to get fire water because somebeast over did it with Artist's Delight...... HOW many beasts do you know here that actually drink the stuff? I don't know any except Callista, but if that was the case. You and me both know the place would be more hectic and at unease....... That and I didn't make it to the meeting in time and instead had to listen in through the doors, when it at and end and I started to walk away, I saw Vrelt come out gripping his cup so tightly, it looked like he was about to break it in his paw. Is it just me, or does this all seem a little.... Interesting?" He took a bit out of the fish on his plate, than continued. "That's why I came here, to shake some answers out of the staff....... You know? If my charming looks and great charisma does not convince them that you may have to do me a favor..... Like the possibility that you may have to get under the sheets with weasels so we can get some answers.... Hope your ready for that if it comes down to it....." The stoat grinned widely.
(Nice long post. hope it's good, if not. I can change it.)
(Ahhhhhhhh Krauser, even when your trying to be serious your mind is still always in the gutter. = P xD )

Larka slipped off the table and into his lap. She knew there was a danger of getting between the stoat and his food but she didn't really mind if he nibbled on her a bit. "You know I'd do anything for you." Then she pouted. "But do you really think it will come to that? I mean you wouldn't want weasel drool all over your peachy tart, would you?" She nuzzled her muzzle into the fur at his throat and occupied her tongue in a way she knew he particularly enjoyed.
Jayne was glad to be away from Walon. It was much too soon for her to be confronted by another male ferret so soon after her encounter with Vrelt. Why had she promised that she would get him ice or medicine? A lifetime of service had made her too ready to constantly see to the needs of others, even beasts she had no business helping. But she had promised and she could not go back on her word. She ran for the kitchen and slipped inside silently. Her plan was just to run to the icebox and take out a chunk of the stuff to bring to the admiral so that he could reduce the swelling of his injury. But that was before she saw the stoats tangled together in the chair by the big table.
The ferretmaid squeaked with surprise and then turned and hurried back out the door and into the courtyard without the ice she had promised.
Larka lifted her head a bit reluctantly and looked around the room. "Did you hear something?"

Drask refused the urge to irritate her further by laughing at her threat, actually that was more of a promise. He knew that Callista would get back at him, probably worse than the shot he had taken at her. The ferret switched back to thinking political thoughts since his wife didn't seem too keen on starting a war of words right now. Of course there would be more time for that later, probably after dinner, unless Vrelt decided to ruin it somehow......
The king continued to stand with his arms crossed over his chest, and replied back to Callista, his emotions once again back in control. "You've got a point there. I'm going to have to expand Riftgard's influence further, and make some new friends, hopefully some more powerful beasts, at least in comparison to the islands nearby. Any suggestions?" Drask himself was thinking of paying a visit to the kingdoms to the south, in the desert. He had yet to go there during his reign, and it was always worth a try. There was also Terramort, but Drask was unsure if he would be successful there, he knew it wouldn't hurt to try, however.
Drask hoped his wife was right, regarding Riftgard's ties to her family. He thought that if nothing else they would help Callista if she was in trouble. The ferret wondered how they viewed him, and how closely they felt to Callista, that would determine whether or not they would get aid from her family if they needed it. As he thought more about it, he decided it was time to pay Callista's family a visit as well, to attempt to strengthen the bonds between the two kingdoms and ensure their support if he needed it.

Walon shook his head as the ferretmaid scurried back outside. "Well that was fast service!" he said with a big grin. "Top marks for speed." Then he noticed the lack of ice. "Is something wrong?" Walon's voice was instantly carrying a tone of concern, not anger.

"Yes...... Yes I did.... Wanna get nasty in front of them?" Krauser again made no hesitations to show what location most of his thoughts were at, the gutter. He always turned that way whenever Larka sat on his lap. Which was almost sexual torture to him. One of the best thing about her was her big rear end. Most vermin were into breasts, but he was a butt vermin. That commonly seen twenty something vixen that's got a big chest? Give her twenty more years and she'll be stepping on them by mistake. Larka's behind in twenty years? The same place, same shape and still spankable. That's why he was into asses more any any other curve on a female vermin's body.
(Krauser's not a pig, he's a BOAR! xP )
"I know a cat..... A caracal I think they call his kind. Somewhere in the Southern Deserts, he is the type of leader who is in his thirties who tries being in denial of his aging by wearing all kinds of fancy jewelry and has harems of she-cats pleasuring him, but he does not have many foes, considering he's destroyed most of them......" The ferret queen didn't really like the idea of choosing him as an ally though. It's not really because of his harem so much as he does not seem like the war type, though maybe all those riches and those she-kitties he desires so much that just so happens to be the spoils of war he has been rewarded with numerous times.....
She continued "You also got the Jade Empire, but I don't like them. There is just something weird about an empire that has nearly a dozen emperors dying every year and still managing to just throw another effective leader on the throne. It does not make any sense...."

Larka chuckled a husky assent and went back to work on his throat.
Jayne squeaked again and jumped with surprise when the Admiral spoke to her. She pointed at him with a paw and then pointed back towards the kitchen then she stammered a nonsensical reply. "I couldn't get... because they... i mean they were... the stoats... I am sorry about your ice." Finally biting her lip and wringing her paws she took a step closer to him. "Does it hurt much? I could try to..." She glanced back at the kitchen door hoping he wouldn't ask her to go back there.
Not that the stoatmaid wasn't enjoying herself but she couldn't help but be curious about the creature she had heard. She lifted her head again and looked out the kitchen door to the courtyard beyond. "Krauser, is that the ferretmaid you were talking about? It doesn't look like she's having much trouble talking to Walon."

Walon cocked his head to one side, considering the statement for a second. Two stoats...and the timing would fit.... he mused, and then his suspicion was confirmed by a look coinciding with Larka's glance out the door. "Oh. Larka and Krauser. You don't need to explain any further. I understand completely." He'd walked in on the two in the past and it was pretty damned awkward to say the least.

The first of Callista's suggestions were right in line with his own, for the king had been considering the Southern Deserts as well. This caracal seemed worth a visit when Drask sailed south, and whatever neighboring kingdoms that were there. An alliance with an island like Riftgard would have much to offer any kingdom in the Southern Deserts, especially trade. Riftgard was an important island because of it's location between the mainland, and the New World, plus all of the islands in between. Much of Riftgard's riches came from these trade routes, and it had made the Pure Ferrets that controlled this island wealthy.
Drask spoke again, addressing something that had been bothering him since they began speaking of alliances; the strength of Riftgard's ties to Callista's family. "I think that we are going to have to pay a visit to the Southern Deserts soon, probably once we get Vrelt away from here. But, I want to also discover how strong our ties to your family are. You've already said that your family would help us, but can you be sure of that, Callista? I don't want to count on an alliance for aid and then be surprised when help doesn't come." Drask didn't know her family well, but he knew a lot about vermin families; especially the royal ones. Callista may have been sold on her family helping them, but it would take more to convince her husband of that fact.
