Conan and his four members each sat in a chair. Derik was keeping an eye on Vrelt and sometimes looked over his shoulder at the guards as if to make sure they were not going to jump him or something, Serkan was already looking at the drinks and the food and Nolan sat quietly with that calm sleepy look on his face. If Vrelt had any female beasts serving as guards or servants or something that are stoats. They have probably at lest took one long look at him. He was not a bad looking character…
Conan was simply waited till he had permission to grab and eat or drink anything. One wrong move can end up in his death or worse. ..

Vrelt took the seat at the head of the table, and he gestured to the food and drink; there was several different types of ale, grog, and wine. Various types of fish, and other seafood was on the long table. "Eat whatever you want." Vrelt also kept an eye on Derik, he seemed to be the strongest of the four, but Nolan looked the smartest, and therefore needed careful watching. The warlord moved his foot slightly, and both the guards took off their cloaks; but both still stayed at the door. One was a mongoose, the other was a pine marten, they both looked swift and well muscled. Vrelt took a glass of wine from the table and sipped it. The door swung open and Romsca strode in, followed by one other guard. "Commander Romsca, this is the corsair who is hoping to join the fleet; Captain Conan."

Serkan had already filled his plate with food and grabbed some grog to drink and was already eating and drinking greedily, Nolan was taking a few sips from wine and feasting on a large fish. Careful not to over do it or eat too much. He ate a lot more slower than the rat did. Derik was drinking only the ale. More likely thinking it is more less potent than the grog or wine or it is just nonalcoholic ginger ale and was eating a tuna. When he noticed the mongoose. He reached down his silk clothing and pulled countless necklaces out and over the clothing. Four of them had king cobra teeth, a few of the had large python teeth, a few had adder teeth, and some others had a mixture of other teeth that were large but could not be identified. This was merely a show of power really. Something that no other beast should interfere with. Most of the time such things were silent between the mongooses. They rarely talked infront of other beasts when another mongoose was in the area…
When Romsca came in and Vrelt told her of him. Conan didn’t say anything. He kept drinking and eating. Knowing damn well to only speak when you are spoken to by a superior. Already Conan was getting it. He was not going to be the boss anymore. He was going to under their orders or he was gonna be dead. Simple as that.

The mongoose silently noted Derik's necklaces that displayed the teeth of many snakes. Arrin in turn did the same, revealing an equally large set of necklaces, his had two king cobra teeth, several from a spitting cobra, some from a boomslang; one of the hardest snakes to kill, and various other teeth and fangs off of snakes.
Romsca took a seat next to Conan, and she glanced over at Vrelt, silently willing him to start talking. Vrelt set down the glass of damson wine and stared over at Conan, "Captain, this is the commander of my fleet, Romsca Fireblade. She is your new leader." Romsca picked it up from there, "Do you prefer to command, Conan?"

Derik quietly turned around and started his meal. He and this beast had tied in this show of power ritual. They are more likely equally matched and both just as experienced as the other. If a fight does erupt and they would have to escape. He wouldn’t be able to escape. He and this mongoose would have to battle it out. One on one. It was a disgrace and dishonor if another beast that was not a mongoose or that is not related or a mate helped the fighting mongoose kill another mongoose. Mongoose duels were most of the time either a one on one or two on two match. Or in slave arenas. A free for all! A two on one fight CAN happen but the winners could not claim the defeated mongoose’s “teeth” otherwise they are either forced to fight each other to the death to claim it or they were forced to share it. (Which was something almost every mongoose didn’t do. They never split their honor and shared it with someone else. Not even with their mate or their sibling.)
Nolan seemed to not be paying any attention. In fact, he looked like he was about to hit his head into his plate and fall asleep. But in fact, he was wide awake and listening to every word and already collecting information from the environment around him. Although Conan was a good commander in his own right. Sometimes Nolan was there to play a small role as advisor for him. Though most of the time. He was play the role was a map maker and giver of directions. Map makers on corsair and pirate ships were worth their entire weight in gold! Those who can map some of the places they had been to in the sea and are able to direct the ships they were on were one of the most important members in a crew.
Serkan didn’t look much like anything important at all yet Conan had brought this rat along with him for some reason. Maybe they were good friends? Maybe he really was something of great importance? Only Conan and his crew knew.
When Conan was told who this ferret was and that she was his leader. Conan understood. He knew he would have no right of command over even his own crew anymore if he had joined Vrelt’s army and fleet. But it was the fact he might earn a lot more money and wealth if he did join that forced him to come here.
When Conan heard Romsca’s question he knew better than to answer that with a yes. He may be a little drunk. But he was not a complete fool. “I used to command my crew, but now that I’m here I cannot anymore. You command now ma’am.” He knew better...

Vrelt stayed silent and drank his wine, and ate some of the fish laid out before him. The warlord was just going to listen to Romsca deal with Conan, before speaking himself. Though not talking was extremely hard, considering he hated sitting still and paying attention to other beasts. But he managed to control himself.
Romsca nodded in approval, "At least you respect the chain of command; Vrelt gives me orders, I give all the fleet captains orders, you give those orders to your crew. Each of these three beasts controls one of your ships, correct?" Romsca considered making each of these other beasts captains, at least the mongoose and the stoat, maybe not the rat, he didn't seem like captain material.

Conan answered her question quickly. “ No ma’am. I commanded one ship, Nolan the stoat commanded the second one and anoth’er beast commanded the third one. He is at the docks. I didn’t bring’im along. I always have at lest the second mate in charge of the crew while I’m away. That way nothing should go wrong while me or the first mate is away. Derik is one of my best fight’ers and Serkan is me best pal.”
This meant that Conan was Captain, Nolan was the first mate and a unknown beast his second mate. And when he was away. The First mate kept everyone in order till he was back, but in the event that both were gone than the second mate was in charge. Also. Conan could never in his dreams command three ships at once. Noone really could unless they were willing to either yell very loud order to the other ships or swim over to each ship to give those orders. So he had the most trustworthy, smartest and loyal members of his crew take control of those ships. That way nothing went wrong. Conan's way off ranks on corsair terms were in a way pretty different fro mother corsairs and pirates...

Romsca replied simply, "I see." She would have to speak with Nolan later, and maybe Derik, if he was not just a good fighter, and was clever, they might become captains. Though she doubted this. Vrelt decided to speak up now, Romsca had spoken with Conan, now it was his turn. "Captain, consider yourself a member of the Royal Fleet of Riftgard." Even if it's not that royal, he thought. If this pirate displayed some real commanding skills then he would be officially a part of the fleet. Perhaps even an officer. He took another sip of the wine and glanced around at the other beasts at the table, taking special care to study Conan's expression.

“Thank you my lord. It is a great honor.” The Gray Arctic Fox said as he took a bite out of a tuna. He seem quite happy about becoming a member of Vrelt’s ‘Royal Navy.’ Serkan was still drinking and eating and starting to become drunk, Derik was only drinking the ginger ale and only by sips and he had only eaten half of his dinner, always keeping an eye on Vrelt, Romsca or the two guards near him and Nolan seemed to be thinking of something.

"Yes, it is." Vrelt decide to reply simply again, still trying to be tactful in Conan's presence. He ate slowly and with manners, but he couldn't do so for long. Vrelt rolled up the sleeves on his tunic, revealing his fore arms, covered with corsair tattoos. And he took a large drink out of his wine glass. "Now we're done with business, meeting over. Time to enjoy ourselves a bit." He started eating his fish with a little more enthusiasm. Romsca sighed, Vrelt really needed to grow up and try to act like a ruler. And not just for a few minutes.

Conan was starting to have feeling of thinking Vrelt was one of the strangest rulers he had ever encountered. One second he is all tough and serious and then the next he is acting like he just invited people to a fun dinner. It was just hard to find a person just like him. You never go to some emperor or king’s kingdom and they not only invite you into their castle, but also let you have dinner with them! This was weird and the ruler was a little weirder…
Derik must have thought the same. Because his mood or action didn’t change. He always had an eye on Vrelt, The Guards or the female ferret that had just entered.
If Nolan even had any suspicious thoughts. He hid them well. Keeping that calm, cool sleepy look..

Vrelt knew for a fact he was one of the strangest rulers ever. But he was also a ruthless warlord, and it showed in his take over of Riftgard. His father didn't rule with an iron fist as Vrelt did, he simply allowed his second in command most of the ruling problems, while he spent all his time pursuing females of his kind. And that got to him. Vrelt's father was killed in a revolution, by his once loyal second in command. Then Vrelt returned to the island, and discovered what had happened, quickly seizing his chance, he took Riftgard. For six years now he had been strengthening his empire, rebuilding it to its former greatness, a power that had not been seen for many years; the last great ruler was Vrelt's great-grandfather, a Pure Ferret who was highly ambitious. Luckily for Riftgard, Vrelt took after his great-grandfather and he shared the same ambition. Ambition for power drove both of them forward, and they both established an empire. Vrelt was once a simple corsair, but he knew he was heir to Riftgard; and he grabbed up that position before his half-brother Drask did. Drask on the other hand, was a lot more ambitious that Vrelt, though he didn't show it. Both of the Darkfangs were like that. Vrelt wiped a fish scale off his face with the back of his paw, then he turned his icy eyes to Conan again. "Conan, is there anything that you would be needing to make your stay at Riftgard a bit more comfortable?" The warlord was feeling generous today for some reason. Romsca wanted to slap Vrelt in the back of the head and tell him to shut up. He apparently had no idea what he was doing.

Conan knew better than to ask for anything from the ruler. If he wanted something he would either have to earn it or on his break, tear it from the cold dead paws of some poor corsair or pirate at one of the Western Islands many bars and small towns or from a slain enemy.
“No mightiness. There is no need to give me anything at all. I had never slept on anything comfortable in my entire life as a captain and pirate. Makes me less needy and keeps me tough.” Well…….. Half truth. He has his needs. Like sex, high pay and a lot of drinks. But the part that was true is that he was tough. Because living a childhood in the Land of ice and Snow is anything BUT comfortable. Much less on a pirate ship…

Mightiness? That was a title Vrelt didn't care for, warlord was preferred. But he didn't say anything about it, it was just a worthless name. Drawing on experience, he kept his mouth shut in this instance. Vrelt continued eating and drinking the damson wine, then after a few moments he stopped, "So, the far northlands, where you're kind comes from, is it as cold as they say it is?" Though Vrelt had been there before, he was trying to figure out Conan's thinking, and how his mind worked.

Canon acted like the question was no surprise at all. "No. It's worse than what they had said it is. Cold is an understatement. It is freezing in it's worst times. As if Death herself had gripped the lands in her boney grip. The freeze kills almost all of the plants and greens. Leaving leafless trees and dead leaves in someplaces. But in most of the land almost desert-like tundra. It's tough livin'. Even worse near mountain areas where there was not much in the first place. Animals become Cannibals, most of them. Did not matter how good things were at whatever town or village you came from. Unless you lived in a palace or somethin'. Things were very bad. Well............. There was something better than a palace. It was a ship. If ya had one. You could just sail away. Ships were not common in the Land of Ice and Snow though. Mostly armies had them but i ended up lucky. I rarely ever come back there to my home land..." He took a sip from his glass.
