Four days after 'Time Draws Near'...
The town of Darkwood seemed peaceful at a distance, bathed in the serenity of the descending sun, making the snow gleam a slight orange on the rooftops. But if one cared to examine the village up-close, they would hear all sorts of gossip and speculation of the weaselmaid that so dramatically entered the town no more than four days ago, carrying twins. Sure, the doctor told the real story, but what traveled from ear to ear often changed from fact into rumor. There was also much talk of one Sergei Ramikov, the weasel without a known origin and a knack for throwing and using daggers of any sort to defend himself.
Today, that weasel stood atop a ridge, examining the town with a contemptuous gaze, a rather stuffed pack on his back. He had made the desicion to leave the town of his own free will, despite the spreading rumors of his own life-story. He didn't know how the word got out, but it did. Well, at least all of the gossip brought about one good thing...
Spitting in the town's general direction, he snarled, the fur on his neck and back being raised in anger, even though he resolved himself not to be this way as he left the whole town open to those idiots down at the tavern... He clenched his fists, then unclenched them slowly after a minute or so. He sighed, and calmed himself.
This is stupid. I'm wasting time. He thought to himself. And with that final farewell, he left Darkwood, heading parallel to the road heading south to the Abbey.
And where he heard, on a hunch, that his father might be there.

Vrelt Darkfang was headed away from the town as well. Covering his tracks so the vermin attempting, and failing, to follow him couldn't reach him.The ferret seemed to disappear from the town after Kolia arrived there. He crept toward Sergei without making a sound. Vrelt stepped out of the trees and smiled at the weasel, "Hello Sergei."

"Vrelt." Sergei muttered as he kept walking, not bothering to make eye contact with the ferret, mainly because of his current mood. There were also some places in their short acquaintance that he felt the ferret had stepped out of place, compounding his concealed anger. He then half-growled a question,
"Shouldn't you be with Kolia and the rest? You have nothing better to do."

Vrelt shook his head and stared at Sergei, "I have something to do now. At the moment I'm keeping away from that town." His cold tone matched Sergei's. Vrelt smiled, "Let's just say they're not to fond of me there."

"I can't imagine why." Sergei rolled his eyes. Ego going unchecked against others even remotely alike it always caused conflict. He stopped and finally glanced back at the ferret. "Well, if you have something to do, why follow me, eh?"
OOC: Lol he's grumpy.

OOC: LOL.
Vrelt kept smiling, "I can imagine why." The ferret walked up beside Sergei. Vrelt left the town after making sure none of the vermin he enlisted in Mossflower would follow him. He had out-witted them after not paying them the money he promised for their services.

"Oh, really?" Sergei raised an eyebrow, speaking sarcastically. "Do tell." He added, crossing his arms. He wondered what the ferret was up to in the town of Darkwood, probably back-alley deals or something that got him in trouble. Well, that's what you get out of Darkwood... Snide words and a five-claw punch in the gut.

"Not much." Vrelt smiled, "I owe money to a few vermin back there, they were the ones that followed me into that tavern, when I first met you." The ferret thought back about outwitting a few very stupid vermin that had the displeasure of serving Vrelt Darkfang; without anything in return. Except a few bruises and some other wounds.

"I see." Sergei paused in thought. ...As expected... "That still doesn't explain why you're following me, though. Could you enlighten me as to why?" He asked, mildly curious. But even as he asked the question, he knew the sun was going down fast. He was wasting time...

Vrelt shook his head, "Who said I was following you? I think I will travel with you, however. No particular reason." Vrelt glanced at the quickly setting sun. Why was he following Sergei? He had no idea whatsoever.

"Fine. If you remember why, feel free to speak up." The weasel said, his voice turning from a growl to a slightly-annoyed sigh. Well, this would be different, having someone follow him through mossflower... Well, changes in his routine were supposedly for the better, he reasoned. He began to walk again, not waiting to see if the ferret would follow him or not, trudging through the snow, southwards, ever closer to his destination. He silently hoped that Vrelt brought his own food and supplies...
Sergei almost certainly wasn't sharing.

Vrelt stood there for a moment, the ferret thought Sergei would get very angry. Vrelt obviously underestimated the weasel. But that wasn't a bad thing; it made Vrelt have more respect for Sergei. Vrelt strode up to Sergei, "Looks like I'm coming with you."

"I can see that, thanks." Sergei adressed Vrelt, the annoyance fading away slightly as well. "Just don't get in the way." He padded off southwards the whole time, not really caring why Vrelt had chosen to follow him now. Time was as short as a shrew at the moment, and pretty soon it would vanish altogether. If the rumor was indeed true, he would finally meet his father.

Kolia stood in the shadows and watched and listened as the two beasts talked. She had felt better (almost herself) after that first good night's sleep and despite all she had said about waiting around with the troupe or going to that other town to wait out the winter she knew she needed to get back on Roask's trail. For that she would need to practice up on her tracking skills. Her father had been an expert tracker and he had taught her everything he knew from the time she was very small. The pregnancy had made her crazy she had nearly forgotten all of his lessons. That must have been why she hadn't been able to find Roask. But now it was as if she was coming out of a fog. She knew she could not fail. Of course she had to move a little slower with the twins tied in a sling about her shoulders. She couldn't just move on her own schedule she had to be dictated by theirs. But her father had aways told her that slow and steady was the better way. She had stayed with the troupe for two days after the birth of the twins, allowing the vixen, Taure to care for both she and her sons. It was the vixen who had suggested that she start taking short walks each day to get some exercise. This was when Kolia began her retraining. She would spy on different members of the troupe completely undetected. She would follow behind them so close they could have reached out and touched her but if they turned she and every trace of her would be gone. On the third day she went out for one of these walks carrying everything that she owned including the twins. If Taure suspected anything she didn't say. The blind vixen had a way of knowing things that no other seeing creature would ever imagine. Kolia didn't say good-bye or thank you but in a way she hoped that the creature who had given her so much help would know that she meant these things. She had slipped away without any of the theater beasts knowing it and covered her tracks well. It was still part of the practice because she really had no idea of where to go next. She spied on the town for a day and saw the weasel, Sergei preparing to leave it. No one else may have known of his plans but she could tell by the small preparations he made. She didn't know where he was going but decided where ever it was was as good a place to start looking for Roask as any. So she followed him and she saw when the ferret joined him. But neither of them saw her and it was her challenge to keep it that way. Thunder was sleeping now, but Lightning was wide eyed taking everything in. She wasn't worried because she knew that he would not cry out and give her away.

Vrelt smiled as he walked with Sergei, "I won't give you to much trouble. Anyway, where are we headed?" Vrelt could have swore he smelt something very familiar, but he brushed those thoughts away and kept walking.
