Kolia ran back up the stairs to the infirmary from the meeting in great hall. She had gleaned some very important information that she had to get to Roask. How to get it to him, was the question. She was so busy with her own thoughts as she entered the sickbay, that she hardly noticed the fox and the ferret and the squirrel. She sat on the bed she had been given and started absently rubbing her stomach. Then she smelled the fish they had been eating. That's when she turned to see who they were.

Vrelt looked at the weasel, he stood up and walked toward her bed. Even with a brace on his ankle and many other wounds Vrelt looked every bit the warlord with his broad shoulders, dark appearance, and his icy blue eyes. The ferret looked surprisingly well for someone shot by several arrows the night before. "Hello, I am Vrelt Darkfang," Vrelt said as he looked at Kolia, not any warmth in his voice.

Another ferret, Kolia thought, looking the creature up and down. She didn't care how closely they were related to weasels, after seeing that ferret duel with her dad, wait no Pepp, she was feeling distinctly uncharitable to the species as a whole. She was also still a little confused as to what she was remembering from her dream and what was the reality of the night of the duel. "What are you doing here?" she answered him finally with a voice just as cold as his.

Huh... Silas thought silently as Kolia entered the room. So that's Kolia... Silas had only heard of the weasel during his stay at the Abbey. Seeing her in person was quite different. He stepped cooly in between the ferret and weasel, saying, "'Scuse me miss, but as y'can see, he needed some medical attention." He said that more to prevent a conflict with them instead of point out some detail. He also kept a close eye on Vortex as well, in case he got up and grabbed a weapon or something. But the squirrel knew he was in over his head at that moment.

Kolia looked from the ferret to the squirrel. She didn't really care what some vermin thought of her but she new instinctively that this squirrel's opinion mattered within the Abbey. If she was going to stay on the good side of the Abbey beasts this was again time to turn on the charm. Her demeanor changed completely. "I'm sorry," she said to him, smiling meekly, and completely ignoring the ferret. "I don't believe we've met. I'm Kolia." She looked around and saw the plates of food the others had been eating. Her eyes flashed, hungrily. "You wouldn't possibly have anymore of that fish?" The whelp was craving meat.

Silas was thrown off slightly at Kolia's apparent change of mood, but then again wasn't that common....? "Uh, yeah, I'm Silas..." He replied, introducing himself. "Think we have some fish left. You're welcome to have some." He gestured vaguely with a paw back at the cart.

Vrelt shot Silas a look that said 'I know what you don't'. Vrelt leaned heavily against a nearby by chair, "I am quite capable of talking myself." He turned his icy gaze to Kolia and then he spoke in a common vermin-trader language, "Weasel help me, and maybe the fox to get away. You get big reward because I rule Riftgard." Vrelt spoke again to Silas "Nothing to worry about squirrel, that's just a common greeting among ferrets and weasels."

"Thank you," said Kolia. She rose from the bed and tried to walk to the cart in a somewhat dignified manor. What she really wanted to do was to tear into the meat and cram pawfulls of it into her mouth but she managed to restrain herself and just pile a large helping onto a plate which she carried back to her bed and sat to eat it. She knew they were all watching her so she smiled up at them and explained, "The baby needs protein." Then unable to hold back any longer, the pregnant weasel tucked into the fish with a will, like a hare after a seven season famine.

Silas returned Vrelt's gaze with one that said, 'Yeah, sure.' And as he did so, his left paw was bent down, reaching into the sleeve of his tunic for some reason. He backed up a pace so that he was at the infirmary door, still saying nothing.

Kolia shot a look at the ferret still shoveling food into her mouth. Who does he think he is? I haven't spent the last several days gaining the trust of these stupid beasts only to scrap it all for some vermin no matter what he thinks he's the ruler of. "I'm sorry," she said to him in the common woodland tongue. "Did you say something to me? I didn't quite understand." Then she added a curse under her breath in the language he had used, making sure the squirrel didn't hear her but still making it quite clear to the ferret that she had understood and wasn't about to do anything to help him.

Silas' ears perked up at the muttered curse, not hearing what it was exactly but knowing what it meant. That served to compund his suspicion of the weasel. Then again, he didn't trust many vermin at all... But this was with reason. What if they were planning something behind the abbeydwellers' backs? It was a troubling notion indeed.

Vrelt cursed back, he pulled up the sleeve of his tunic revealing the mark of Riftgard. Then he spoke in the vermin tongue again, "Listen weasel, I don't have time for games. I want to leave this place, and It's no place to give birth." The powerful ferret cursed in a low voice, still using the vermin language.

Silas' blue eyes widened as Vrelt used the dialect once more. He had heard it before, as a teenager... Right before he was attacked by marauders on the path. However, he did not recognize the Riftgard mark. But the language was proof enough.
"Vrelt," Silas began, "I'll have to ask ye to have a seat." He said, somehow keeping his voice level and his expression calm. The erret was definitely up to something. But what?

Kolia tried to look as if she hadn't understood but the ferrets words had the distinct feel of a threat. Her paws were shaking as she set down the plate of fish and placed them protectively on her stomach. "I wish you would stop speaking to me in a language I can't understand. The healer said I shouldn't be getting upset. It's not good for the baby." She wished she still had her daggers. She felt so vulnerable without them.

Vrelt obeyed Silas and sat down. Vrelt didn't want to harm any of the beasts in Redwall or to betray Silas, who had helped him in his time of need. "Silas, I don't want to harm anybeast here, you have all been kind to me."
