Appearance:
Belongings:
She is small and skinny in stature compared to most Pine Martins, appearing to be a scraggly runt because she is so naturally tiny and has little prominent muscle tone. Her eyes are glittering black jewels that have a mischievous gleam in them indefinitely. When she smiles she shows most of her beautiful ivory teeth that she takes great care of and the only physical trait of hers that she fusses over. Fur color is a dusty brown over her entire body except for the front of her neck which takes on a brighter, caramel shading. The fur is rather grungy looking because it is not properly taken care of, usually being matted in many places and spiked from the amount of grime that strewn throughout it. Her thin tail is usually the only part that still has some fluff left to it from time to time but it never lasts too long. Long black claws on all four of her paws are also kept well sharpened though not trimmed.
Yarrum usually wears a old tunic that is some shade of red, usually with no sleeves and a matching pair pants. No footwear of any kind is worn on her feet, she finds them uncomfortable and unnecessary. Her face, neck, arms, and paws are splattered with homemade paints most of the time in various designs. When the paint fades away she reapplies it in a different design so that the temporary tattoos are never the same. At times she can be seen wearing a bleached skull of a larger pine martin like a mask/full helm.
No weapons but her teeth and claws.Job or Position:
She does carry a small, scarlet silk bag that is filled with all sorts of trinkets, herbs, parts of bones, and sea shells that she uses in her seer work and to simply entertain herself.
In addition to her bag she also has the front part of a pine marten skull. Because she is so small, the skull is larger that her own head so when she is doing her seer work or just in a certain mood, she’ll wear it like a mask.
Seer and general gatherer of information.Personality:
Insanity personified. She can be calm and logical one minute, then threatening to rip out everyone’s throat at the next. She talks to herself all of the time and answers in incomplete thoughts when being talked to or questioned. Most of the time she seems to be in a childlike mind set, being inquisitive to her surroundings and collecting all sorts of odds and ends. If she feels that some beast is threatening her or even looks at her the wrong way she will snap into a violent mind set and attack the offending animal. She follows orders loosely, doing what she wants when she wants most of the time. Usually keeps to herself, mainly because others get annoyed with her sudden mood swings and her senseless babble. She doesn’t seem to have any sort of conscience, this is seen through the fact that she will sometimes eat an opponent she has killed if the mood hits her. When she commits this act she does so without remorse and goes about it as if it is as common as breathing.History and Background Information:
Though she seems to be nothing more than an insane idiot, Yarrum has an excellent memory and a wealth of information. Getting that information may be difficult but it is well worth it because she can recall the tiniest of details. However, because of her...condition...she doesn’t always know the chronological order of events, meaning she will sometimes give the beginning in the middle and the end and the start. She is also useful because she has the power to see and perceive things others cannot. She does this with the help of the items in her silk bag and the smoke from fires. She can be very accurate in her foretelling which is most helpful to the vermin leaders who’s band she has joined.
Yarrum was the only daughter of another Pine Martin seer whom lived with a small vermin horde on the outskirts of Mossflower. At an early age she discovered that she too had the powers of a true seer and began learning the tools of the trade under her mother. Around the same time of the discovery of her great potential, Yarrum began experiencing violent and sudden mood swings. She would turn from a sweet, young child, to a savage animal, biting anything in site. This particular horde was one that believe in many superstitions and thought that young Yarrum was possessed by some spirit from the Hell Gates. The vermin leader gave the pine martin’s mother an ultimatum...ditch your daughter or we ditch the both of you. Yarrum’s mother chose to keep the good life and leave her daughter behind.Any other details:
Her mother put her to sleep with the help of strong herbs and dumped her deep in the forest they were traveling though and hightailed away before the child would come to. When Yarrum awoke she was all alone and had to fend for herself, with the help of her savagery and her gift of Sight. She learned how to live on her own quickly, becoming an expert climber and a decent swimmer, and from then on she is more at home in the wilderness than in civilization. She became a robber of bird’s nests and learned how to catch fish with her bare paws with a decent success rate. As she grew older both her insanity and her gift as a seer grew and she began drifting between vermin bands, she was about 15 years old when she had killed her first comrade. The weasel had said a snarky comment about her ramblings and Yarrum snapped in an instant. She was upon the vermin and had killed him so suddenly that everyone was to stunned to act. In the heat of anger she as she was biting and clawing the now dead beast she actually started to eat him. She was run out of the band soon after.
Since then she has drifted along, mostly alone because rumors of the flesh-eating seer usually proceeded her arrival. With such a reputation, however dark it is, she is able to make a living off of her talents as a seer regardless of her other tendencies. Which is what she continues to do now, as she wanders through Mossflower, willing to give information to any vermin or goodbeast that is willing to pay for it.
She is willing to give information to anyone, though most Goodbeasts tend to avoid her for the simple fact that she is terribly insane.
