This is just so I can keep the Darkfang history straight and keep it as a reference for all those who RP with me. I'll tell it from Drask Darkfang's viewpoint, here goes nothing.....
Hmmm, Where should I begin? I guess I'll start before anybeast had heard the name Darkfang. Some time ago, the headstrong son of the Pure Ferret Ruler of Riftgard sailed away from that island, determined to set up his own kingdom away from his father's. His name was Czek. Czek sailed around for three years, searching for the right place to start his own empire. But the longer he searched the more he realized he would be forced to come back and seize Riftgard from his father. Czek did just that. The aging Pure Ferret was easy to beat, because most of Riftgard's soldiers supported Czek. After his victory at Riftgard, Czek gave a name to himself; he became known as Czek Darkfang
Czek pieced toether his father's kingdom, strengthening the army and navy to the point that the name Darkfang was known all over the Seas, even far into Mossflower. But after the grand reign of Czek Darkfang, his empire fell into pieces.
The only surviving son of Czek made it to Sampetra, were he eventually became a captain on one of the ships there. He became a great corsair and sailed the high seas without fear. This mighty corsair died in a massive storm, leaving behind several children. Apparently his mate was not a full blooded Pure Ferret, because the newest Darkfangs had icy blue eyes. That was one of the traits that became forever associated with the Darkfangs.
What happened for those three children is unknown. Except one survived. He knew he was a Pure Ferret from Riftgard. Therefore it belonged to him. He mustered up a large fleet and sailed to Riftgard, where he encountered no battle, for the ratgaurds willingly accepted him as their leader. He rebuilt the empire that his grandfather had established, returning Riftgard to its former greatness.
He had a very active social life, and that's where Vrelt and Virek came from. But first, he was married to the young heir to a small island called Vardav. Her name was Aspen Keht, my mother. Vrelt was born close to the same time, but to a different mother. Aspen found this out and quickly got out of Riftgard and headed back to Vardav, taking me with her.
For my first seven years, she taught me everything. How to write neatly, who to speak like a gentlebeast, how to lead inferior beasts, and most importantly, how to handle a blade. But that didn't last long. In my seventh year, my father launched an attack against Vardav, managing to take me away and back to Riftgard. Aspen was able to defend the island and win the war, but the price of victory was extremely high.
My father filled my head with lies about my mother and why he took me away. I didn't believe a bit of it. Vrelt and I were rivals from day one. He was stronger than I, but I was far wiser; it caught my father's eye so he spent the most time with me, preparing me to rule in his place. All the while Vrelt listen and learned from all his father said, he had the ambition of ruling as well.
When I was sixteen years old, I secured a ship and left Riftgard, with my father's fleet in hot pursuit. Until I was nineteen, I used hit and run tactics against his fleet, pounding it until my father was forced to halt his search for me. During that time I earned the reputation of a cold blooded killer, a real dangerous pirate. At the very moment I learned my father was dead, I sailed back to Riftgard to claim what was mine. But Vrelt was already there, backed by every soldier and pirate at Riftgard. I got away from there.
Vrelt followed in the pawsteps of his great-grandfather, rebuilding the empire yet again. He proved to be smarter than he looked and he established the Riftgard empire that is in effect now.
I made it to Sampetra. There a young weasel was looking for beasts to help him take over. I joined up. Together we overthrew the emperor and he Teague took his place, making me second in command. At age twenty he sent me to Mossflower, where I was to train and bring back an army. I did exactly as ordered, and in the process I made myself known as a great general.
I returned with the army and equipped them properly. Four years passed, and we were planning to invade Mossflower, when he was assassinated. Moll Rawnwave, who was to be his queen, took control, with me again at second in command along with Walon Vau.
So that's the history of the Darkfang family as best as I can tell it. Now pour me other cup of wine......
