A silver, feathery furred otter sat in the low branches of a tree in the camp, strumming the strings on his guitar slowly, playing a soothing melody as he closed his eyes.

Virek Darkfang walked silently through the undergrowth, following the sound of some type of music. He wondered if Rabisat was still following him, but he shoved those thoughts away as he grew closer to the sounds. Virek hoped it was some defenseless old woodlander that had some food, for the young ferret was willing to do anything for some hot food.
He stopped close to the edge of the bushes and waited, considering his options before moving in. If it was indeed an old woodlander, Virek decided he wouldn't try to kill him, he would merely take whatever food he had. The ferret removed his bow from his shoulder and armed it with a fresh arrow, then he stepped out from the foliage, pointing his bow at the beast playing music.

The otter's ears perked as he heard a rustle in some nearby bushes, but he kept playing and acting as if he didn't notice. He appeared relaxed, but every muscle in his body was tightened and ready for immediate action.

Rabisat was right behind him with her sickle sword drawn. She was not as hungry as Virek, mainly due to the fact she hunted for her food and would eat anything that moved or did not move that was not vermin, but she was willing to help her only vermin companion out. This otter looked weak and defenceless enough and besides, she is more deadly and scary than almost anything they were ever going to encounter in this forest. Pointing the lethal spoint at the otter. She rasped. "Paws up riverdog!"

The silver otter leapt, spun, and whacked at her with his tail while loading and spinning his sling in the same smooth motion without so much as a snarl.

Virek watched the otter go on the defensive and moved a few steps closer, calling out to him. "Stop! We aren't going to kill you, unless you try to kill one of us." The young ferret kept his bow trained on the otter, waiting to see his reaction. Virek wouldn't hesitate to let his arrow fly straight into him, but he really didn't want a fight at that moment. All he wanted was a bit of food, but of course the otter wouldn't know that, he would assume they were just bloodthirsty vermin out to kill somebeast.

The otter stepped back, still tense and with his teeth bared silently, but not making another move. Wot d'ye want 'ere?

Rabisat once again like before. Almost seemed to have transformed into a demonic creature. The glaring red eyes, the wicked sickle sword, the sharp bared fangs, the claws and the unaturaly pure white fur of a real albino creature. She had no fear of the otter and she would not hesitate to leap at him with her blade. Besides, she had always been looking for a fight. It gets very boring being stuck in the middle of nowhere and doing nothing but walking in a direction your not even sure is going to take you anywhere. "Go ahead riverdog. Let fly thy stone. Lets see how quick ye can reload before i am upon ye! My friend here simply wants food. Nothing more."

Virek was smiling inwardly at the tactics they used; Rabisat would scare the heck out of their poor victim, while Virek backed up her threats with his bow. The young ferret nodded to the otter, "Just calmly put down the sling and we won't hurt you. All I want is whatever food you have, and we'll be on our way." Virek's smooth talking was also a great aid to raids of the woodlanders, for many listened to his clear, soft spoken voice, and had an arrow in the chest seconds later! He didn't want to kill this otter, but he wouldn't hesitate to do so.

The otter remained tensed for a moment before slowly lowering his sling arm, but keeping a grip on the sling. All ye want is food? Well I ain't got any, but the camp does. I can get some for you both and bring it back here.

Rabisat gave a wicked chuckle. "Thou art foolish to think we are silly enough to let ye go to a camp and bring back "food." What a joke! Ye would come back with reinforcements! Not food!" She spat out the last sentence angerly as she pointed the point of her sickle sword at her. She was not stupid. Any vermin with a brain in they're skull would know this trick right off the bat.

Virek thought it over for a few brief moments, before evaluating the situation exactly as Rabisat did, but the albino fox voiced their shared idea before he did. "She's right. You'll stay right there until we figure out what to do with you. Your lack of food may affect your life, otter." Virek kept his bow trained on the otter as he slowly advanced over to Rabisat, once he was next to her, the ferret spoke in a nearly silent whisper, still keeping his icy blue eyes on the otter. "What do you suggest we do? Just kill him? You've got more experience, make the choice, I'll go along with it."

The otter tensed even more and barely bit back the snarl rising in his chest. I give you my word I'll come back with food, not reinforcements. I won't speak a word of you to anyone in the camp. You can even watch me. I know a tree that gives a good vantage point of the camp.

Rabisat ignored the otter and looked at her raiding partner with a smile "Mayhaps i suggest either two things we can do. One. We can...... Well. Thou art know what my Far Northern kind need to do when they are hungry......" Licking her lips and giving him a clue on what she means. She had eaten fellow beasts before although like Hans Vermeer. She had never ate foxes or wolves and never would. That was true cannibalism. Eating ones own kind. "Or...... Mayhaps we shall use thy otter as hostage?"

Virek smiled wickedly, "I say, plan number two. Let's get ourselves a hostage." To tell the truth, he was disgusted with the thought of eating another beast, he was apparently more civilized than the fox, which saved the otter from a savage death at the claws of Rabisat. Virek looked back up to the otter and gestured with his bow, "As much as I'd like to believe you, I can't allow you into that camp. We have decided to spare you, for the moment. If you would, walk slowly toward us, and you'll live to tell this story to your children one day."
