As the slaves were lead past him and the others, Vrelt noted the young mink, and, "What in hellgates?" He exclaimed as the mink passed him, tears streaming from Icy Blue eyes that looked exactly like his! The warlord's eyes widened in shock as he took in what he just saw, until he finally yelled to his Patrol that were leading the slaves, "Halt! Don't move them forward!" The Patrol heeded Vrelt's command, stopping the slaves where they stood. The ferret took several steps to stand next to the young mink again, staring down at her, and she truly did have the traditional eyes of his family. He thought he had imagined it. But she was a mink, how did she have those eyes?

The mink was sad, scared and angry all at the same time. To scared to even think straight at all. Her mother always told her she would know who her father was just by making eye contact with him, but she was starting to regret the fact she even know looked at him. This ferret was in some way going to use her, like the other beasts in chains. He would not care for her life. Lest she thought so.
Conan was likely the only one not surprised. In fact, he had a slight grin on his face. "Ah. The life of being the young corsair. I remembered it well. The plundering, the terrorizing, the treasure, the drinking, the lady beasts...." Than his grin disappeared. "The results of the drinking and the lady beasts...." Vrelt was not the only one who suffered the horrible backfire of the life of the corsair. Though he might have had many more that he did not even know about. In fact. He knew he had to fathered a bunch of children, but he ever knew any of them now and possibly never now since now with his newer job, he never goes back to the Far Western Islands.

Vrelt looked back to Conan, attempting to retain his humor in light of the seriousness of the situation. "Of course, I do miss some of those things from time to time." He couldn't take his eyes of the young mink for long, however, and he returned his icy gaze back to her, attempting to remember when he was ever with a mink.
Suddenly, the memory came to him. Vrelt and his crew were being chased by a much larger pirate crew, and they had avoided them by sailing due west, toward the unknown and dangerous lands where the other pirates refused to go. They changed their course to move in a northern direction, and they arrived at the mink settlement. There Vrelt broke out the grog in celebration of evading the other pirates, and his crew joined in the celebration. The natives who initially welcomed the corsairs into the village were almost immediately sorry they allowed Vrelt and his crew to stay there. During the first night there, Vrelt noted a certain female mink with interest. Whether he was under the influence of the grog, which was extremely likely, he found she was more than willing, and, well, the rest is history.
Vrelt knew this young mink was the product of that meeting. He wasn't sure how react to having a daughter, but whether or not she was a mink, no daughter of his was going to be a slave. After several minutes of silently staring at her, remembering where she came from, and what to do with her, he finally spoke, "Unchain her right now, captain." The Patrol Captain again complied with Vrelt's orders, and he unchained the young mink.

As the chain fell off the mink's paws, she let her lower jaw drop. She does not even remember the last time she felt her wrist and forearms bare and free, but the stunning and sudden shock of freedom all but shook up the inside of the small child's head! She had been wrong! She knew this beast and he knew her. Now she knew she was finally safe. Safe and sound. She knew they may not understand each other, but at lest now she knew maybe finally. she may encounter a thing she has never had for a very long time. The caring protection of a parent.
She took and few steps forward and hugged the ferret's leg. Not really wanting to let go of him...

Vrelt was taken back by the young mink hugging his leg, he had no idea how to handle this new experience of having a child. This was not very fitting for a warlord to have a child clinging to his leg, but he didn't care at this point. Vrelt didn't know what to do now, so the ferret allowed the young mink to continue clinging to him as he gave orders to the Dock Patrol, "Don't just stand there! Keep moving!"
((Darned shortness....))

Nolan. Being the calm, cool yet firm and chilling stoat he was. Helped make the ferret's order at the dock patrol by walking forward with the Katzbalger in his right paw and gently pushing the closest guard with his other. The warlord needed some time alone with the mink child that he had discovered was his and besides. He would be needed to keep the witnesses in line should they have any "funny" stories to tell they're buddies....
Conan, dispite being the bad beast he usually was. Could not help, but feel a little happiness at the fact the kid was more likely now going to have a much better life than being some stone laying slave sent out every day to build the damaged fortress back into tip top shape. Hell, this kid was..... well.... a kid! She does not deserve a fate like that..... or anything he used to suffer through as a cub himself...
Tallula was starting to slowly realize that Vrelt was not really the fathering type, never mind the type that has had any experience with children like herself at all. So with that she willingly leg go of him and just stood there with her head down and with her eyes staring at the dock. To tell the truth. She didn't really have any experiences with fathers either...

As Nolan made sure Vrelt's orders were carried out, the warlord thought carefully about what to do with his new found daughter. He supposed he ought to bring her into the fortress and get her a warm meal and new clothes, but he remembered something that would prohibit that; she didn't speak a word of his language, just like her mother. Vrelt wondered if there was anybeast here who could translate or teach her his language, to make this easier on both of them.
Vrelt broke out of his thoughts and kneeled down to Tallula's level, and gestured to the fortress, and back at her, trying to get her to understand him. "Come with me." He spoke the words slowly, if that was any help to her. Vrelt attempted to smile at her, but it was extremely difficult for him to do so, this was all new to him.

Tallula didn't understand a single word her daddy was telling her. Which hurt her deeply, but she certainly could tell by his body language what he wanted her to go. Go to the big, stone house with him. The safe place that would keep her with her daddy and keep her in a well care for home with food, water and other things she would love to have. Knowing this now. She decided to try something she thought would work to help him understand that she knew what he wanted her to do. She nodded and smiled.

When Tallula figured out what he was trying to say, he smiled broadly, "That's right." Vrelt raised himself back to his full height, addressing Conan, "Come with me, Conan." Though he wasn't sure exactly why he wanted the pirate to come along, something told him that the arctic fox was much more trustworthy than the average corsair. Vrelt looked back down at his daughter and held out his paw, a gesture for her to take it. He hoped she would understand this one as well, though he guessed she would, for she was probably far smarter than any gave her credit for. She did carry Darkfang blood after all.

Tallula without a doubt knew what daddy wanted her to do.. She grabbed his paw with her own. Willingly coming along with him to the big stone house to safety. Though she could not help but wonder what would happen to the ferret slaver that made his life so miserable.....
Conan obeyed his orders immediately of course. "Of course yer mightyness!" Willingly walking along side the ferret warlord. Besides. He had already gotten himself a good sunning. This mink was the most interesting thing that has happened today. He has to see more of the warlord and mink...

((whatd'ya say we bring in Draygo and Jayne? I think it would be interesting if Jayne actually did know a bit of the native mink and could kind of bridge the language barrier. Especially since we already know they're not on the best terms with Drasky))

((It's okay with me, just make sure Cole agrees.))
Vrelt started off, holding the paw of his daughter, with the two guards still following him. The fortress towered above them, the most massive landmark on the island of Riftgard. The five beasts entered the fortress, with one of the guards in the lead and the other covering the rear, making sure no beast would be able to attack their leader in the narrow, echoing hallways in the fortress. Vrelt kept drifting back to the mink settlement, attempting to remember more of Tallula's mother. If she was still alive, Vrelt had already decided it was his duty to bring her here, and one of the things he planned to ask his daughter, once they were able communicate effectively, was if she was still alive.

Tallula walked along side with daddy. Keeping even closer to him with the guard up front and the one behind her. She was not used to being around so many people she never knew at once before. For the most part she lived alone with her mommy in the wide open world of the New World. Nothing ever went wrong, only good things mostly happened. Till the strangers from the ship came and took her away from home, killing her mommy while they were at it. Than it all went down hill...
The mink looked over her shoulder, than back up front. This place was nothing like home. It was huge, gray and a little cold. Pretty cold in fact. She could hide food in here instead of bury it! Though she wondered where the water would be. The other water outside is bad water. Bad water kills any who drink it. Causes them to foam at the mouth and such.....

As the five beasts moved through the various corridors in the fortress, Vrelt's thought's turned to the problem with which he was currently faced; how he would take care of his new found daughter. He would have to first find a well-educated beast that could teach her to speak the common vermin language, that was the major problem.
The group came to a halt at the entrance to Vrelt's throne room, and the warlord spoke to his daughter, even though she couldn't understand a word he was saying. "We're here." He stepped into the grand chamber and waited at the entrance to allow Tallula to take in all that was in the throne room. It was a massive room, with expensive furnishings abounding in it; from his throne in the center of the room, too the collection of weapons hanging from one of the walls. Vrelt always smiled when he saw this room; it brought back the memory of beating his half-brother to Riftgard, and how Drask would never be able to sit in that throne.

Tallula was awed at the sight of the throne room. Was this where daddy slept at? Ate and drank at? Where he got ready for battle? The countless questions rushed through her surprisingly intelligent young mind. Indeed. The blood of the Darkfangs truly ran through her! OR maybe all children were truly thoughtful and always learning? That truly can really only be decided by opinion.
She noticed the smile on her daddy's face. He must have really liked this room. Maybe it was because he had made it with his own paws? Maybe because he did sea things like the slaver ferret did to get all these things? No.... It definitely must be a tribe chief thing....
