Appearance:
Age: Fifty-five seasons
Species: Red squirrel
Gender: Female
Allegiance: Good
Appearance:
You'd see this delicate creature as soft and native, just as she is. Like most, and probably all squirrels, she takes on a narrow and lean, and slightly curved figure. Myaira, or more commonly known as May, has a luxurious gold-cherry pelt with a soft, silky texture. It would be typical that her long coat is kept tidy and in a soft, lusty sheen. Touching her satiny coat is a tap of white and pink. Her gold and scarlet fur pales around her stomach, where white-cream takes over.Belongings:
May takes personal pride in her bushy tail. Like her major pelt color, its cherry orange with streaks of scarlet and gold and curves at the end. Around her face are more orange, darker in between her eyes, and lighter along her cheeks and nose. She has charming, butter-melting black eyes, lined with long lashes, that gives off a charming flicker and a muzzle lined with long whiskers and a pointy nose at its tip. Sharp, keen ears tipped with a darker tint rest just atop her narrow-pointed head. And, the red squirrel distinction, two tussocks of redden fur behind her ears.
Claws always trimmed neatly, May's dark brown claws are kept at a smooth edge and shine. Myaira believes that exercising goes to sweat, and sweat goes to unhealthy body odor, and unhealthy body odor goes to untidiness, so she doesn't work out, but she keeps her fit image. However, this squirrelmaid is lacking in strength, but full in agility and speed. May is considered to be light, yet not underweight, and quick. But despite of that, May captures more of an innocent appearance with her sweet smile and flutter of her eyes lids. Her always-clean and graceful looks sets up her sweet image up.
May's usual wear is a hazel-colored smock with gold rings along the edges. The cuffs are ruffled messily and along the open neckline is a flat collar, lined with honey gold. It reaches to her footpaws, where the color fades to a darker brown. As she most treasured piece of apparel, May takes special care in it and can become prissy and concerned over its tidiness. Another piece is the traditional Redwall Abbey green habit, although May is less caring over this habit, for almost all Redwall dwellers own a piece.
Everything as to belongings Myaira has are on her person. The most noticable is the necklace of gold stones around her neck with a pink rose attached and gold-colored bracelet around her right paw. Attached to the squirrelmaid's ears are looped gold-hued earrings. And at times, a cream-rose headhand will be resting under her ears with a stone red rose fixed upon it. And lastly, a gold ribbon and bow secured around her bushy tail. She doesn't carry much that won't enhance her looks.Job or Position:
Sister, Performer, CookPersonality:
Myaira is a sweet little thing in some cases. She can be friendly and kind, willing to give a paw to others. And other times, she can be this finicky and mothersome bother. At times like those, she is considered the party-pooper and ruins the fun by complaining and concerning. More beasts would love her sweet side, but, well, sometimes, let's just say it's just too charming.History and Background Information:
May is, well, prissy about certain things. Take for example, clothing. She is always concern on what she is clad in. Tidiness is another thing. May is very concerned over how neatly kept and glossy her coat is, how clean and spotless her smocks are, to how formal her dorm looks. Because of this, she tends to stay out of things that gets messy, thus, leaving her out of the fun at times. As a Dibbun, she wasn't the most enjoyable to be around.
You wouldn't name Myaira modest. When given a compliment, the squirrelmaid takes it all, a charming grin playing around her lips. Even yet, she would display it for all to see. May takes pride in herself and anything she can do, which entitles her as vain. Well, you really wouldn't name her really stuck-up, but, since she is really stuffy while others are usually not and prefers to go out and have fun, she thinks of herself more "civilized" than most.
Myaira's behaviors around others depends on the beasts with her. If you're like her type, prissy and stiff, she'll act more likable, chatting away and smiling disarmingly. If you're the beast who loves fun and adventure, she'll be hushed and speaking and acting curt and stiff around you. As much as she tries to sound sweet, May just can't hold back her distaste in beasts who likes to get dirty.
Myaira is known to be cunning and sweet-talking, melting into the hands of others with simple ease, so she gets what she wants most of the time. You could call her spoiled. She's just like any other vain squirrelmaid with the power to flatter to no end. Myaira is labeled as Miss. Goody-Two-Shoes.
One of the more annoying things about Myaira is her exaggerated emotions and actions. When at the slightest sass-back or squint of the eyes, the squirrelmaid will burst into tears. She gets prissy even at the smallest smear of dirt. Myaira has become non-amusing because of this, although she could care less. Another thing, May can become rather jealous at anybeast who she sees a threat to her best spots of interests, like performing and cooking. The squirrelmaid will end up really competitive even at that.
But, once you break through her outer, stiff (literally) shell, you'd find a soft, welcoming heart who could help you through your problems. She's loving and open-hearted once you really get to know her. But since few have explored her true inner self, she's more commonly known as what she is on the out side.
Myaira's birthplace takes scene in a small society of squirrel families who lived together in a grove of trees deep in Mossflower. The families lived in secret in the ring of think oak trees, keeping hidden from others. The squirrels were peaceful creatures, and wanted to avoid vermin who lived in and crossed through Mossflower Woods often, especially after being drove off their originally home by a band of foxes. All six families supported each other, and was successful staying invisible.Any other details:
They built their homes up on the thick, gnarled branches out of strong pine wood with wood catwalks to travel from home to home. The squirrels were quite civilized and organized their homes fashionably, which included polishing the wood, creating unique, classy furniture, and things of the sort. They were well-mannered and lived an educated life.
The squirrels also adapted the skill of farming, and did so in the nooks and niches of the trees, planting fruits and vegetables, and retrieving nuts from around Mossflower Woods. They did all of this, yet kept hidden in secret. The squirrels were mightily proud of themselves, and that was when the line of confidence seared through the squirrels.
Myaira was born some seasons later. She was the third born since the families claimed their new home. Myaira was spoiled rotten, not only by her parents, Torrew and Meratu, but by the whole clan. Spoiled, that was all Myaira knew until her sixth year. As the young squirrelmaid grew, she hung out with her friends, sipping hot mint tea and chattering. They didn't go out and play. It was against the rules of the clan. You weren't suppose to get dirty. The rule was hardly listened to; nobeast fancied the thought of getting their paws dirty anyway.
At Myaira's sixth year, the worst happened. The young squirrelmaid, accompanied by her two childhood friends, Erila and Garshae, were, as usual, sitting among the taller branches, drinking tea and nibbling on a biscuit daintily. It was Erila who saw the bird. It was a single kestrel, perched high up on an elm, pruning its feathers lazily. Garshae was the one who made the bet. She dared May to irritate the bird by chucking a biscuit at it. At first, Myaira was a little hesitant; she was one of those good young maiden who followed rules and orders formally. But urged by her friends and the eager feeling of merriment, she did it. The squirrelmaid aimed her last biscuit at the bird and let it shoot out of her paws.
The object hit the kestrel right on its beak. The bird screeched unhappily, and its piercing eyes caught sight of the three squirrels on the branch, giggling with mirth. With another screech, angry this time, it seared for the three creatures who threw the biscuit at it. Because of the thick leaves and branches that blocked the way, the kestrel could only rattle and shake the branches with his powerful claws. The three squirrelmaids clung tight, although the bird's efforts couldn't shake them off.
May, Erila, and Garshae was about to burst into another helping of giggles when several screeches rented the air. Before they knew it, the air was filled with blurs of chestnut and black. The small group of kestrels went right to attacking the unwarned families of squirrels. The three squirrelmaids of the cause darted right down, squealing with terror. The birds had broke through the maze of leaves and were attacking the wood homes furiously. The squirrels were forced to drop down and make a run for it, scattering in all directions. Only few made it into the undergrowth and trees of Mossflower; the many luckless ones were picked off by the kestrels. Myaira's parents were two of the many that were caught.
Myaira and her two friends were one of the last squirrels out of the grove of trees. In the confusion of feathers, screams, and endless forest, Myaira and her friends were separated, May alone. She wandered as far as her little paws would carry here. Since she had no experience with the lands outside of her home, the young squirrelmaid could only drag her feet along aimlessly, sobbing at the sudden turn of events and how quick and easy it happened. It was all her fault. Born of a life of neat paws and educated manner, she was hopeless out in the woods. Myaira stopped upon a dead tree trunk of a sycamore, she sat down and began to weep even louder.
Her ear-piercing wail caught the attention of a mouse and hedgehog passing nearby out looking for certain herbs. Since her words her cut short by her endless sobbing, Myaira found it difficult to explain how she was here and in this state. The pair of kind creatures decided to take her back to Redwall Abbey, where they came from. Myaira spent a night in the Infirmary and woke up sobbing again. Now an orphan, she made a quick decision to stay, and the Abbey was where she continued her life.
Since the squirrelmaid had been living a spoiled childhood, Myaira continued to act like that, and soon, she couldn't shake off that behavior, even though she was part of Redwall Abbey for a season or two. At first, Myaira was the center of attention among the other Dibbuns, but after awhile longer, they got tired of her prissy, stiff, and unplayful morals. Even as a young Dibbun, Myaira would rather lounge in the Orchard and sip tea in a dignified manner than prance around with the other young ones. She was considered a well-behaved and good Dibbun, but rather boring and not really fun to be with.
Preforming is one of this squirrelmaid's few passionate interests. She gets really dramatic when you put her on stage. May also sees this chance to grip gentlebeasts in her liquid eyes and soft smile. She is truly a good performer, and isn't afraid to admit so. Myaira also likes to cook. It's one of the only things she'll do that involves getting messy paws, although she is extra-careful. She isn't actually a great cook, but is willing to be, even though she won't admit she isn't one.
