"Yeah, I guess so." Penny looked down at her paws. She didn't want to just leave him now and never see him again. She wasn't really sure what she wanted, but she couldn't imagine life without him. To stall or maybe just to change the subject she asked, "What was the Congo like? You said you'd tell me about it. What did you see? What did you do?"

"Well, it's humid there, more rain than Seattle, if you can believe that. But if you look past the exterior, it's a beautiful place. There's so much untouched jungle habitat there, it's just amazing. And the natives can cook up a mean soup, the main stuff in it is cooked crocodile meat. Which was surprisingly very good. I actually really enjoyed this trip, it's like stepping into the past, the forests, the natives, they've been there for thousands of years without any change." He was rambling on again, this time it wasn't as bad, considering Penny did ask him about the Congo. Drask tried pushing thoughts of a good-bye out of his head, he didn't want to just leave her here at a hotel.

"It sounds wonderful," She watched his profile as he drove and then looked back at the wet black road ahead of them as she spoke again. "I'd love to go on a trip like that. To see all the interesting flora and fauna and really get to know the natives. I'd never been anywhere before I came to Seattle. I remember it seemed like a different planet when I landed here 4 years ago." She laughed. Suddenly the idea of going back to Phoenix seemed terribly dull. She wanted to see some place new and exciting. Truth be told, she would have liked to go on one of Drask's adventures with him.

"Seattle does take a lot of getting used to. Arizona and Washington don't have much in common. Washington has the U.S.'s only rain forest, and Arizona is one of the hottest places on the planet. Must have been a hard first few weeks here in the Emerald City." Drask looked out the windshield and the huge form of Mt. Rainer, rising up out of the Cascades. The sun had started to set over the mountain, and it looked wonderful out there. Turning his attention back on the highway, I-5. He sped up the Mustang slightly, enjoying the rumble from its engine. "I'll never forget the Congo, it's one of the coolest places I've been." And I'll never forget you either, he thought to himself.

"Wow" the ferretmaid whispered under her breath. She was also looking out at the sunset and it was nearly enough to take her breath away. She was certain that for the rest of her life she would always remember this moment. "You'll never see anything like that in Phoenix."

"Yeah." Drask took the next exit off I-5, the Seatac airport exit. He drove to a tall building that was right off the interstate, and he pulled up to the main entrance. It was the hotel. Drask swallowed hard, this was probably the last time he would see Penny for a while. With one last glance at Mt. Rainer, he turned back to Penny, trying not to sound sad, "Uh, the is the hotel, Penny."

"Right," Penny answered but she couldn't seem to make herself move. Eventually she unfastened her seat belt and put her paw on the door handle. She tried to tell herself it would be easier this way just a quick good bye and then . . . and then what. The only thing that was certain in her mind at that moment was the fact that she didn't want to be parted from Drask.

Drask closed his eyes and leaned against the wheel, attempting to control his sadness. But it was near impossible. Then looking back over at Penny once he heard her seat belt unlatch. "Uh, I'll see you around. Good-Bye Penny." Maybe just a simple good-bye would be best. Though it pained him to do so.

Penny took her paw off the door handle and reached for the necklace around her throat she wanted to make sure it was still there before she left him. To feel like she still had part of him with her. "Yeah, see ya around." Then she turned slowly in her seat to face him but she didn't look him in the face, "You know, it's kind of late to get a room. They might be all full. I should have thought to call and make a reservation before."

Drask looked up at the hotel, "Maybe. I have a cell phone if you want to try calling them. Wait, we don't even have the number." He could barely conceal the sadness in his voice, it was all to much for him to bear. Drask clenched his jaw together, not wanting to appear as weak as he felt at that moment.

Penny looked up at him. Could this possibly be as hard for him as it was for her? She sighed, desperately not wanting to exit the car, swallowed her pride, and asked, "Could we just drive around for a while and talk?" She was probably just postponing and possibly worsening the inevitable but she couldn't bare to walk into that hotel alone right now.

Drask didn't need to be asked twice. He drove out of the parking lot, back onto the road. Though he was glad to spend a little more time with Penny, he didn't have a clue what to talk about. "So, how's Anthony's been while I was gone? Still cooking up the best pizza in the west?" Well, that was a start.

"Yup," She immedately felt better when they were back out on the road. "Tony actually let me try out a new recipe: pineapple and bacon. He was a little wary but he thought it was great when he tried it and actually put my name on the title in the menu: Penny's Polynesian." The ferretmaid smiled proudly at her accomplishment.

"I'll have to try that once I get back from Alaska. Sounds pretty good." Drask was enjoying this drive a little more, at least Penny wasn't going to leave right now. He wasn't even sure where he was driving to, but he knew these roads well, he was just glad to spend a few more minutes with Penny before she left for Arizona.

Penny relaxed back into her seat and jumped at another possible topic of conversation. "So, Alaska? What's got you traveling to the far north this time?" She'd never really considered anything much north of where hey were now. She'd been perfectly comfortable in the southern states of America until she'd gotten her college acceptance letter but suddenly going further north had a certain appeal.
