Age: No younger than 50 seasons, actual age unknown
Species: Adder
Gender: Male
Allegiance: Good
Appearance:
Siampre is a fair-sized serpent, large enough to coil around a badger almost three times. His scales are a vivid forest green with lusterous black diamond patterns on top. His underside is a pale moon-yellow, the same color as his slitted eyes. There is a deep, silvery scar that runs across the top of his head, all the way from his eye ridges to his nostrils.Belongings:
He is a snake, therefore he wears nothing.
Siampre owns a virtual library of scrolls originating from all manner of beasts. He keeps them in his home, a small system of cathedral-like caves chambers and tunnels that also serves as religious sanctuary for his sect's followers.Job or Position:
He also has the responsibility of guarding a sacred religious relic called the Vaipiristone: It is a large prism of crystal with mirrored facets, too large and heavy for most mice or smallbeasts to carry.
He is the Haas, or spiritual leader, of the True Vaipiri, a large group of serpents that practice the old ways of snake culture...Personality:
Siampre is a very solemn and stoic old creature who adheres to his spiritual code no matter what. He has aquired vast amounts of knowledge from his readings over the years, so a beast could say he is wise. The adder Haas is devoted to the causes of his religion, True Vaipiri, which are essentially peace with the land, peace with others, and peace with yourself. Around those he doesn't know he appears rather intimidating and fierce. He simply doesn't mince his words. To friends or creatures who come to the House of Vaipiri for sanctuary he is actually very generous and compassionate in his odd, unsmiling sort of way. Sometimes he gets quite a temper when he sees or hears of something truely awful happening.History and Background Information:
To tell the story of Siampre I have to first tell the story of the Vaipiri religion and the attempts made over time to snuff it.Any other details:
Since before anybeast, snake or otherwise, can remember there was a widely followed religion among the serpents called Vaipiri. It's principles were very simple: Peace and goodwill are the most important things to maintaining a good world, and everything depends on everything else so there is no reason behind harming anybeast beyond that essential reason. The only reason these Vaipiri serpents ever killed at all was to survive, and such was not evil to the Vaipiri.
Not long before the early Badgerlord Brock came to power, a terrible thing happened. A power-hungry young adder, an ancestor of Asmodeus, murdered the Great Haas and claimed his position for himself. He managed to sway the majority of serpents to his side by either a promise of a great reward in his skewed view of afterlife, or the threat of a horrible death. Any who refused to join were hunted down and massacred by this monster's many zealots.
For hundreds of seasons, Asmodeus's line reigned over the serpent world with a cruel iron coil. Siampre was very young, but he learned the old ways of the true Vaipiri from a scroll his mother left him when she died. He appeared before a council of the most important serpents and proclaimed that he would lead the true Vaipiri practicers back to their old standard of decency. At first the council were suspicious; they did not want another charismatic but cruel ruler. But in the end they relented because Siampre also stated that he would be willing to share his power with any serpent who also knew the old ways. Now Siampre is the Haas of the majority of Mossflower, his place of practice is his home in Central Mossflower called the House of the Vaipiri, located in the red sandstones of the quarry.
Family:
Mother--Ulessa
Father-- Unknown
Siampre is tightly bound by religion. There are many things he is forbidden to do:
-Kill anything within 50 feet or within the House of Vaipiri
-Lie after giving the oath of a Vaipiri
-Go longer than a single week without incanting a Time of Confessing (self-cleansing prayer)
-Eat any animal that also eats meat(doesn't count fish, does count birds, this means squirrels, mice and shrews are vulnerable, but a barn owl or a weasel is safe).
His nemesis is the family that will one day produce both Asmodeus and Baliss.
