Appearance:
Age: 22
Species: Cat
Gender: Female
Allegiance: Neutral
Appearance:
Sawyer is one of the most beautiful cats that came from the Northlands, with bright copper eyes; eyes that could entrance with just one warm look, or could blaze anger just as easily. Like her long dead mother, she has a slim figure, which does make her look rather weak compared to other cats, but so much better looking. Sawyer has soft white fur, that turns to a cream color in some places, notably her face, tip of her tail, and the tips of her ears. Also notable about Sawyer's appearance is her long, slightly bushy white tail, and her soft lips. Despite all those facets of her beauty, she didn't come out of the Northlands unscathed, she bears several scars, the most noticeable is a slashing scar on the back of her neck, as well as one on her upper right arm, from a deadly rapier sword.Belongings:
Coming out of the Northlands, Sawyer had no clothes but the white tunic, and a swirling black skirt. But since then, her life improved in the way of clothing, and she amassed a wide array of tunics, and various other articles of clothing suitable for a lady of noble birth, including several dresses that fit her body perfectly, improving her already good looks.
Sawyer owns much since life started to look up for her, most of that being in the way of clothing, not to mention a nice little stockpile of silver coins she managed to scrounge together, and a good bit of jewelry. She owns one single possession that came from a mother she never knew; a necklace of pearls that seemed made to fit her neck. The cat also has one weapon to defend herself with; a dagger strapped to her thigh. That dagger really wouldn't be that much of a fighting weapon, unless you were an expert in using it, especially by throwing it, both of which Sawyer is quite proficient at.Job or Position:
Servant and longtime companion of General Drask Darkfang.Personality:
Sawyer has a dark outlook on life the majority of the time, after all that happened to her early in her life. She bares that cruel beginning with the spirit like that of her father, managing to remain determined to survive. Sawyer isn't the most friendly beast, for her intelligence often places her on a level above that of many others, and she shows little kindness to those "ignorant" beasts. It is especially hard for her to trust anybeast, not to mention showing kindness to them, unless she knows them well enough, like she does Drask and Vera. Sawyer replies with sarcasm many times, mainly to those that lack her intelligence, but sometimes jokingly around Drask. She appears much more like true nobility than the current ruler of Sampetra; Queen Moll. It is that fact that causes Sawyer to hold little respect for Moll. Sawyer is skilled in dancing as well as being a beautiful singer, two things that made her happy throughout her life, and brought a calm about Drask, one that no other beast could give him. Therefore, she is invaluable to the general, and she knows it. Sawyer sometimes flaunts that fact above the servants in the palace, and even sometimes Vera, who always tried to get on Drask's better side. She could charm just about anybeast with her appearance and her copper eyes, but she rarely ever tries that, after all there are few male cats on Sampetra, and not one of them measure up to her high standards.History and Background Information:
Sawyer's life began in the bitterly cold Northlands, in a small kingdom ruled over by her father, self proclaimed King Vek Cradan. That smallish kingdom was won by her father in a short but terribly deadly war with the most powerful cat bloodline in that part of the Northlands; the dreaded Catudan Warriors. Her father had nothing to help him win that bit of territory but a small force of arctic foxes, ermines, a few cats, and his strongest weapon; his military genius. Vek bitterly fought for a castle held by the Catudans, until finally, he succeeded, thanks to help from inside the castle; a large group of mutinous soldiers, tired of Catudan rule. The short war came to an end when Vek crowned himself King. Shortly there after, he took a wife who was once a slave in the castle, and a while after that, she gave birth to a daughter for Vek.Any other details:
That daughter was one of the few bright spots in Vek's life, and he and his wife were extremely fond of the then called Kenrah. Kenrah was a quick learner from the day she was able to talk, and she took in everything, her life was going perfectly, until the fourth year of her life.
It was ofter said the Catudan Warriors were the most relentless army ever to sweep the Northlands, and this was no exception; they launched an assault against Vek's kingdom. Without a skilled fighting force to back him, Vek couldn't hold the castle, so he ordered all his soldiers away from the tops of the walls, and into his palace, to make a last ditch attempt to hold it. Luck was not with the Cradans. Vek's army was slaughtered by the formidable forces of the Catudans, until he died himself, in a duel to the death with a brilliant yet completely heartless cat general of the Catudans; Gravik Furrdinand. Gravik and his army plundered the castle, and took all of the other beasts within its walls as slaves. But what happened to Kenrah and her mother?
Gravik knew Vek had a wife and at least one child somewhere, and the general's persistence paid off when he finally found the two remaining Cradans huddled together in a secret room. The general debated what to do with his two important prisoners, until he decided he would keep Vek's wife as his own, and merely kill of Kenrah. Kenrah's mother wouldn't allow it, boldly standing in the general's way. It was a brave but foolish move, for Gravic didn't hesitate to draw his blade and cut her down right there, in front of the copper eyes of a four year old Kenrah. Gravic decided to take the young cat with him anyway, sparing her life. But Kenrah didn't come away unscathed; after her mother was murdered, she tried to flee, Gravic caught up to her, and gave her two nasty wounds with his rapier; a long slash across the back of her neck as she ran, then one on her arm. Two scars that would remind her forever of what Gravic did to her and her family.
Kenrah became a slave to the general for a brief time, until Gravic sold her to a trader that came by his fortress, when she was only five years old. She was immediately sold yet again, this time the trader shipped her to the island of Riftgard, to Drask Darkfang's father. She arrived there just after Drask himself did, when the ferret was seven. During this dark time for the heir of Riftgard, he became friends Kenrah.
Drask somehow managed to persuade his father to give the cat to him, instead of slaving away in the kitchens. The young ferret's wish was granted, and Kenrah was released to him. It was after that fateful moment when her life began to look up, with Drask looking out for her. The least she could do was offer her trust and friendship to the first considerate creature she knew since her parents. Drask was assisted greatly by the cat in his studies, and she soon gained the nickname Sawyer from her companion. Sawyer discovered she had another talent; she could sing beautifully. She used this talent to help Drask stay calm whenever he was feeling depressed, angry even, which happened constantly when the ferret was under the command of his father, and the taunts of his half-brother, Vrelt.
One thing Drask and Sawyer had in common was their hatred of Vrelt. Sawyer hated him because he showed absolutely no respect for her, or Drask, his own brother! She was ofter subject to verbal abuse from Vrelt, and even a couple brief fights that the ferret won. Drask hated Vrelt even more than Sawyer did. It was clear what side she would be on once a power struggle began for Riftgard.
During the time she was a slave and Drask's companion, she amassed clothing that the ferret had his father's servants make for her. Life wasn't so bad at Riftgard, except for Vrelt and his father of course. When she was fourteen, Drask showed open rebellion against his father and sailed away, unable to take Sawyer along with him. Sawyer's life again plummeted, now that there was nobeast to help her out. But she showed the same brilliance and mental strength of her father, managing to stay alive and kicking at Riftgard. Luckily, she had one gift from Drask that could help her do that; an extremely sharp dagger with an emerald embedded in the hilt.
It seemed like she had spent ages as a slave there, but change happened on the island, when she was seventeen; Drask and Vrelt's father was killed, leaving the island leaderless. Sawyer knew at that point Drask was coming back to take over his rightful position, but things never work out the way they are supposed to. That hideous scum Vrelt Darkfang got there first! Sawyer quickly began planning how to escape, when she heard that Drask and his small fleet were waiting, just offshore of Riftgard. She knew Drask had followers on the island, so she stuck with some of them as they escaped the island, stealing a ship docked in the port. The ship was met by Drask and his ragtag band of pirates, who welcomed Sawyer and the rest to their fleet.
Immediately after that, Drask came to power at Sampetra, along with Emperor Teague. Sawyer was no longer a slave to Drask, or any other beast, but she still felt she had to stick with the ferret. She became his strong left paw, while another female, Vera, became his strong right paw, for both of the female beasts were some of the best support Drask had. Vera of course served as an executioner and spy, while Sawyer helped in a totally different way. She still sang to Drask, and she offered her brilliant mind to aid Drask in sorting out his developing army. In some ways she was more important that Vera, for without Sawyer, Drask would be an even more dark creature.
Sawyer gained much from sticking with Drask; starting with protection, enough to eat and fine wine to drink, a warm bed, all the clothing she could wear, and plenty of jewelry. Despite the way her life turned around, Sawyer would never be able to forget the one thing that haunted her every night; the sight of her mother being brutally killed by Gravic. She thought Drask Darkfang was her best possible ally to destroy the Catudans once and for all, as soon as Drask's mighty war machine began to move....
