(Alrighty folks, the last one got really long and I can't seem to remember all of it in its entirety, so we're starting a new one, continuing right where the other left off. Think of it as a series of novels, or a mini-series heh. But anyways, here I go.)
As his boots swished against the unmowed grass towards the trash can, Bane could feel Anna's eyes on him. It was one thing to look into them, to see what lay behind them, but it was another to be given the honor of having their attention focused on him. He discovered that as he approached the trash can under the tree that he had gotten rater jittery. But as he turned around to face the weaselmaid a meter or two away, he smiled and asked, "Would you prefer it if I threw your trash away as well?"
He imagined that she would prefer not to hang around trash bins much longer than she had to, and by the smell he knew earlier in the day somebeast must have not liked their breakfast all that well. He stepped a pace back again, as if an invisible rope was tying him to Anna, and in a sense it was. He knew it was dangerous, but every moment he spent with her he wanted to be closer, and to be closer to her was to be farther away from lonliness both in this place and others. His smile just said it all as he watched her and awaited a response.

With Jane's arms wrapped around him, Vrelt was certain he could completely forget the situation they found themselves in, and the land they were stuck in. The ferret was extremely close to kissing Jane once more, but he caught a glimpse of Sev out of the corner of his eye, suddenly he felt himself thrust back to the present. It didn't feel right to kiss the ferretmaid like there was no tomorrow when the hare was standing in the same room. Then again, who knew if there would be a tomorrow? The Zone was a place where a beast was forced to live for the present, and a life could end like the blink of an eye. That may have been one of the reasons Vrelt and Jane moved along so quickly, for they both did not know what tomorrow would bring. Moments like these made Vrelt think deeply about their situation. It was clear how he felt about Jane, nothing would change that, but to think seriously, he barely knew her, and she barely knew him. They might not even have time to get to know each other much more.
The warm look melted away from Vrelt's face, replaced with one of seriousness, a facet of his personality he rarely manifested unless the situation was dire. He looked down into Jane's green eyes, but didn't speak, he had nothing to say. The look in his eyes told enough; this was far more serious than either of them truly gave consideration for, their situation was not simple, it was far from that. Vrelt finally spoke again, a smile touching his lips, replacing the seriousness he had for a brief moment. "Jane," He paused for a second, caressing her cheek with a finger, "We sure have a lot to talk about after that pizza. I hope our kiss is like that when we "renew our vows" soon. That's something to look forward to, eh?"

"Well that would give me the chance to stay where I am and enjoy the view." Anna blinked. She had surprised even herself with the quick teasing comeback. She giggled and bit her lip. This was not her nervous laugh but an honest, happy, bubbling over of joy. She looked down for a moment at the bowl and spoon in her paws and then held them out to Bane. "Thank you."
Jane watched as Vrelt's expression went from smiling to seriousness and back to humor again. She wanted to ask him what he was thinking, if anything was wrong. If there was anything amiss she wanted to do everything in her power to fix it. She realized in that moment that she never wanted him to ever be sad or worried about anything. She wanted to always see that carefree smile on his face.
His touch and his words distracted her from his happiness for a moment though. He seemed to have no trouble at all knowing exactly what would make her happy. She nodded eagerly in answer to his question and then smiling added, "I think the pizza is all done other than being cooked. We should probably go ahead and get it in the oven." Even though she said it she didn't make a move to extricate herself from his arms.

"Indeed." muttered Sev as he turned around and opened the oven door, enjoying the hot air that hit him as he put the pizza in to cook. He studiously ingored the two, watching the cooking cheese instead as it started to melt together and form the perfect topping for a pizza. His mind flashed back ages, to when his adopted mother had taught him how to make it, and how not to use a timer, but to instead watch the pizza as it cooked, making sure it reached the stage of perfection.

Bane also laughed with the weaselmaid, smiling as he took her bowl and spoon back to the trash can. "Haha alright... No problem." He replied, allowing just a little more of himself to show through to Anna. It couldn't hurt anything anyways, he decided. Thus the weasel ended up throwing away the bowls and spoons and walking back to Anna, hurrying along a little as the clouds gathered in the distance. As he stood next to her again, he said, "Well, I suppose this view is nice, but how about a few others around town?" He suggested, gesturing with an ear back to roughly where they entered the park.

((fast-forwarding a few hours to later that evening when everyone has eaten and come back together at the barracks and now they're going to have a little interlude))
Anna helped Jane into the white dress in the little private room at the back of the chapel. The only dress that could be found was slightly big everywhere but around the belly where it was stretched tight. The people of the little village had really out done themselves. The had provided clothing for the little party would be in the ceremony and hundreds and hundreds of flowers.
The no-armed weaselmaid who had spoken to Jane earlier in the market was now standing by watching with tears in her eyes while Anna brushed Jayne's headfur and laid a crown of flowers over her ears. The girl was probably thinking of her own Nicoli when she asked to be part of the wedding party. But her presence made Anna nervous.
Anna had so many questions she would have liked to ask Jane. But this girl only knew the made up story and she spoke English so Anna kept her muzzle firmly shut while she worked. Finally she realized that there was nothing more she could do.
Jane, despite the ill-fit of the dress, looked beautiful. Anna thought that probably had something to do with the smile beaming from the ferretmaid's face.
"It's time then," Jane half asked half commented with an excited hitch to her voice. She rose from her chair and picked up a bouquet of flowers from the table. "This is it."
"You look beautiful, Ms. Jane," the weaselmaid gushed.
Anna smiled and nodded still unable to speak since she couldn't say everything she wanted to. Are you sure about this? You've only just met him. You have your child to think of.
"Wish me luck," Jane opened the door to find Sev standing there. She smiled at the hare, "Ready to give me away? You've probably been wanting to do that for awhile, eh?" she teased. Then totally in control she pushed Anna out ahead of her. "You and Katerina have to go first."
Anna was still worrying about Jane as she heard the organ starting to play and watched Katerina walk up the aisle ahead of her but then when it was her turn to go she caught sight of Bane standing next to Vrelt and all the worry melted away. Yes, she thought those kinds of feelings could be forged in only a few days.

Vrelt felt as if his heart was in his throat, a feeling of nervousness at what would happen in moments. This had all happened so fast, even so, the ferret had very few doubts about being married to Jane. He had to keep one thing in mind, tomorrow he could very well be dead, or Jane could be dead. The Zone was not a safe place, no matter how well you were armed.
He was dressed as good as he could, wearing his uniform that looked clean and straightened. The beasts here had helped him out with that, and Vrelt was grateful, for there was no dust or dirt left on his once dirty uniform. A couple of medals were pinned on his chest, very few for a captain to have, but considering he never officially joined the army, he was lucky to have any rank. It was given him for his service after his arrival in the zone, as a soldier and for his original duties as an architect. The black military issue boots were shined to perfection, and his fur was clean, he looked good. Vrelt had admired the way the crisp looking uniform looked on him in the mirror before coming out here, happy with the way he looked, despite a bit of a gaunt look in his eyes. That was something only time away from the Zone could cure, perhaps it would never change, even if they left.
Vrelt was asked to leave his weapons away from the chapel, and he did, except for one of his .45 pistols. That gun had saved his life multiple times since he arrived in the Zone, and he would not leave without it. The .45 was in its holster, looking cleaned as well, the black holster was also polished, and displayed on his right hip. His shoulders were held back proudly, standing straight and tall, and his face conveyed some of the nervousness he felt. The ferret's heart started beating even faster when he heard the organ, this was it......
He looked expectantly down the isle, waiting for the appearance of Jane, and he was not disappointed when the ferretmaid began the walk down the isle. She looked beautiful in his eyes, that smile bringing warmth to his heart and his serious looked faded away, replaced with one of confidence, and with a smile of his own.

Vrelt was not the only one in military uniform. Sev also wore his. While he was a captain like Vrelt, he had a lot more ribbons and decorations, due to his service in various parts of the world, and then he had medals, which included, besides his campaign medals, two Purple Hearts, a Distinguished Service Cross, a Bronze Star, a Silver Star, and to cap it all, the Medal of Honor. Each had been shined, just like his boots and he fairly gleamed, each step causing a reflection off some piece of metal.
As he walked Jane down the aisle, barely stopping himself from bursting out laughing at Jane's comment. Sev had also left his weapons. Well, most of them anyway. Inside his uniform jacket, there was a 9mm Browning and a large combat knife, a Marine Ka-Bar. Just to be safe. You didn't get far in this world by being universally trusting. That was usually a ticket to a six foot hole, or just being left in a heap somewhere.
They finished their walk down the aisle and Sev stood off to one side, waiting for the ceremony to continue, trying to remain still so as to not attract attention to himself.

Bane stood uneasily next to Vrelt, feeling like he was clearly out of place in all the proceedings. Instead of a pristine military uniform, the best he could muster from his duffel bag was a clean white shirt, and a leather jacket he had bought on his last trip to the Zone. He had also left his weapons back at his room in the barracks, including his survival knife, its reassuring weight gone from his belt. However, the weasel reasoned that the guards still watching over the large refugee camp could handle things. Even an impromptu wedding. He marveled at the joyus atmosphere that seemingly fell out of the sky into the chapel, distracted by the flowers, some of them in odd neon colors thanks to the mystery of the Zone.
As the organ started up, though, Bane's attention moved from the flowers to the aisle, observing Katerina and then Anna walk down towards them. He allowed an encouraging smile at the latter, wondering what she was thinking of the proceedings.

The priest a funny little mouse with strange orange eyes looked over his book at the two ferrets. He only spoke Russian so Jane couldn't understand a word he said but she didn't care. She had always wanted a proper church wedding when the time came and with all that had happened and the unsure nature of the future she had never dreamed that she would actually get her wish. The ferretmaid beamed at Vrelt she had no doubt in her mind that he would be a good husband to her and father to her child 'till death did they part'. She tried not to think about the fact that that could be sooner rather than later. She tried to focus only on the moment at paw and she realized that at some point she was going to have to repeat something that the minister said. She hoped that somebeast would translate that part for her.
Anna also hadn't the faintest idea what the little mouse priest was saying. She took to looking around at the little chapel. The beasts here had kept it up remarkably well for all they had been through but then she figured a place like this was probably where most of them got their hope to move on. She did notice a few cracks in the stones and beams that looked like they had endured numerous repairs. The weaselmaid wondered how many times these creatures had had to rebuild everything even their very lives from scratch. They were brave beasts. She looked back over her shoulder at Katerina who had tears in her eyes and then followed the no-armed weaselmaid's glance to see she was looking out into the congregation at a young male weasel who was clearly in love with her. Their gazing at each other made Anna feel as if she were intruding on something so she brought her eyes back up to the front and found Bane's comforting smile once again.

As Sev stepped away, after leading Jane up to him, Vrelt gave the hare a smile; he had much to thank his friend for. He had a lot to do with him and Jane growing so close in such a short time, and on top of that, Sev was already a good friend, even though they had known each other only slightly longer than he knew Jane. His reflections were cut short when Jane took a spot next to him, her bright smile bringing warmth to his heart, and he transferred his smile from Sev to Jane. Though his smile for Jane was not one shared between friends, it was one you showed for a beast you truly cared about, much more than a friend.
Vrelt's limited knowledge of the language was bothering him, though. He caught some of what the priest said, though it was jumbled in his brain, due to his nervousness, and he waited for somebeast to translate for them, mainly for Jane's sake, but also for his. This had been a long day, and his mind was scrambled from all that went on, especially because of the ceremony going on right now.

Before the mouse could proceed, Ashlyn politely informed him of the language barrier existing between them and the couple, offering to translate everything for convinience. After this was done, the vixen began slowly translating the mouse's words, picking up in speed after growing accustomed to it, looking from Vrelt to Jayne with a smile on her face, her paw gently rubbing her own ring about her claw, hoping that fate would be kinder to these two creatures in the coming years.
Bane glanced over to Ashlyn as she began to talk with the mouse. The weasel himself knew adequate Russian, and just enough Ukrainian to squeak by, but the healer vixen was well-versed in her native tongue in addition to English. He listened to the mouse, and then her unfaltering translation, allowing his own mind to drift, and his eyes to glance a few times over at a certain weaselmaid, wondering what lay in store for everyone on the road ahead. Through one of his glances he also caught Grey, sitting near the back of the Chapel. The muscular wolf nodded at him in greeting, his expression indicating another matter of importance was to be addressed afterwards.

Sev was quite relieved when Ashlyn offered to translate. While he could get by with his rudimentary knowledge of Russian, this was a bit more complicated than rudimentary Russian. He let out a quiet breath, causing a series of lights on the opposite wall, reflections from his medals. His mind went back, several years in the past.
It had been dark. It was always dark, without fail. There were only four others left out of his patrol, his sergeant and three PFCs. There had been more, but constant and grinding attacks had decimated their ranks. Sev had been walking backwards, trusting to his hearing to stay with his group. That was when he heard the screaming, and Jimmy was gone. He whipped around, but there was nothing there, just drag marks from where he had been. "Jimmy!" he'd shouted, charging after him, firing at chest level. A strangled gulp and a thud and Sev came on Jimmy's body. "Damn." he'd sworn as he shook his head. And then the rest of the screams, Foster, Higgins, and Sergeant Parker. Sev was alone, ten clicks from base. At least he had plenty of ammo. He started running. As fast as he could. Which was pretty fast. He saw blurs and fired on the run, dropping the figures. He was using Jimmy's rifle, instead of his own sniper's weapon. He broke into a clearing, closely followed by six zombies. Yelling wildly, he shot over his shoulder on full auto, managing to cut one down before the clip ran dry. He dropped the AK-74 and went faster. Only 4 more clicks.
Somehow he'd made it, the only survivor from a 25-man patrol. He'd been promoted and given a medal. Jimmy, Foster, Sergeant Parker, Craigson, all of them had died. And he'd been rewarded for surviving, just for being able to run away very fast.

The vixen continued with her translations, enunciating clearly in a way that the Russian sentences would make grammatical sense in English. The mouse stopped, and glanced at the couple before him as Ashlyn began into the 'I do's', asking both Vrelt and Jane, unable to stop herself from smiling quite broadly at them.
Bane stood in respectful silence, trying his paw at translating a few lines in his mind as well before Ash' had spoken their meaning. He fidgeted with his paws, allowing himself to also think of the reception party. There was usually litle occasion to celebrate in the walled town, but when there was, the residents partied hard. He, as well as Grey and Ashlyn, knew from their own seperate experiences.

Jane was so thankful to the vixen and she mouthed the words thank you to her through an unbreakable smile and tears of joy. But her gaze only left Vrelt's for a moment and when it was her turn to speak she had never uttered a truer statement. "With all my heart, I do!"
Anna had noticed Bane's lips moving. It took her a moment to realize that he was attempting to translate for himself before Ashlyn got the chance. She had the peculiar desire to hear him say the words aloud and then as the couple continued with their vows she wondered what it might be like to be repeating the same lines along with the weasel standing across from her.
