Build: Nissa is a rather large squirrel, tall in height, slim in weight. In physical appearance she takes after her mother, Late. She is rather strong, choosing to attack rather than defend
Eye: Nissa’s eyes are a light blue, and normally smiling. Her brother, Aiken, also has ones matching.
Fur: Her fur is a soft reddish-brown, her underbelly a soft cream (see signature picture)
Paws: On her front paws, the ones us humans would call hands, her claws, or nails, are stained in hotroot pepper, in order to keep her from biting them. She used to use lemon juice, but then discovered she took a fancy to it, and switched to something she detested: hotroot.
Her back paws, her feet, are leather-like, due to the amount of traveling she has done.
Clothing: Her usual attire is a soft blue short-sleeved dress that matches her eye colors. It shows her figure quite nicely, in her opinion. She wears thin brown sandals, and a necklet around her neck, see below.
Markings/Tattoos: She has a slight light brown spot beside the point where her tail begins.

Belongings:

Sling;; Her first weapon, a small sling, given to her by her father, and taught how to use it by him in addition.
Sword;; When Nissa turned fourteen, her father decided it was time for her to learn how to attack and defend with a “real” weapon. This is the weapon. She lovingly called it Brazen, which her father told her, meant bold. It is a medium sword, in length, and rather small in width.
Shield;; A small circular wooden shield, good for braving off stones and the occasional spear thrust.
Necklet;; A small silver chain, onto which is attached a cross silver wildflower. It has been handed down from female to female of her family for generations.
Picture;; A slightly faded sketch of her family, before her mother died, done by a wandering artist. She treasures this, it being one of her only memories of her deceased mother.

Personality:

Temperament:
Nissa’s mood changes often, and the weather, other people, and even what kind of food is being served effects it. She loves the rain, and thunderstorms, making her happy, and she likes the sunny days, also making her happy. However, she simply loathes cloudy days, and ones with gobs of snow, becoming utterly cranky. She doesn’t like overly braggy people either, or show-offs, or cheaters, or just some that she just doesn’t like, for basically no reason.
Food:
Nissa enjoys eating, especially sweets. She cannot stand any kind of bitter green vegetable, collards, turnip greens, and she doesn’t care much for radishes either. Her favorite meal, perhaps, is a healthy smoked salmon slathered in honey, accompanied by apple cider, a strawberry tart, and two slices of wheat bread.
Colors:
Nissa loves colors of the darker variety, particularly black, brown, and navy. She absolutely cannot stand pink and purple, thinking others would think her girly, plus she doesn’t like them
Smarts:
Nissa is not very quick when it comes to “numbering”, as she calls it, often getting confused, and then getting frustrated, sometimes leaving the room in a bout of cranks. She is educated in the way of espionage, and woodland and vermin ways.

Nissa is very quick to decide things, not wanting to waste time, and is often in a hurry to get things done. She gets bored easily, and likes to talk. A lot. She likes to stay up late into the night, writing or drawing (two of her main hobbies, both of which she is a bit above average at), and then waking up the next morning at around dawn, never being able to stay away past 8. Needless to say, she is a bit out of sorts afterwards. She likes to tell the Dibbuns stories, loving to see their delighted little faces when she comes up with a new one. She illustrates pictures to go along with them, and voices hysterically.

History and Background Information:

Nissa was a cling-on at birth. She loved her mother, and never left her side. She liked to think she was helping her mother, rather than being a sort of pain. After awhile, her mother, instead of thinking it was rather cute, got a small bit annoyed with Nissa. So she sat down with her and had a little talk. She, Nissa’s mother, explained that Nissa was getting a bit in the way. She couldn’t hardly get any work done, and Nissa, poor Nissa, wasn’t making any friends. Plus with this baby on the way, Nissa wasn’t going to be able to be right by her side much more. But she ended it with a nice big “I love you!” and a rather large hug. But Nissa knew it would never be the same. This baby, this it, was going to take her place.
One night, when Nissa was around seven seasons, she woke from a dead slumber. She heard mumbling voices, and saw flickering shadows. Needless to say, she was thoroughly frightened. The squirrelmaid grabbed her pillow, and, in what she hoped was a threatening manner, stalked stealthily out of bed. Brandishing the worn, blue pillow, she tip-toed over a few beds, and discovered something shocking.
A mass of various Dibbuns were huddled together, whispering to each other in hushed tones. A hedgehog holding a wooden sthingy by her side, stood in the front, she looked to be their leader. Spotting Nissa from the shadows, she smiled and beckoned her closer. And so, Nissa became a member of the notorious Dibbuns Against Bedtime, or DAB. She was timid at first, preferring to stay only by Brookie Dirtclaw, her mole friend, but soon warmed up and became as lively as the rest.

Then It came along and ruined everything. Nissa’s brother was born, but she shunned him. Hated him for taking her mother. Late Salith had passed on to the Great Acorn Field In the Sky while birthing the babe, Aiken Morn Salith. She wouldn’t speak to her father either, believing that he, Drae Salith , loved that it better than he loved her.
Later on, when cute little Aiken, It, grew and grew some more, her hatred partially dissolved into resentment. Then, when it/he learned to speak, he told Nissa: “You da bestest sistah evah!” and then gave her a rather large hug. Nissa was dumbfounded, and tried to pull away, feeling guilty because she knew she hadn’t been a good sister. But that only caused Aiken to snuggle deeper. She returned his affection, and the dislike melted away.

Nissa turned fifteen going through a bout of depression. Over her mother. Over her younger brother. Over her father. Over losing the Dibbuns Against Bedtime. Aiken, aged thirteen, had gone a little overboard celebrating his birthday, and almost got kicked out of the Abbey. Her father was seriously looking into remarrying, but Nissa didn’t want him to. And then her age had sadly exceeded the DAB limit. She was given an honorable discharge, and a most prestigious award: Most Strawberries Eaten In a Minute. But nothing could mute that dull pain of losing that club. Now, there was no club to join, No missions to complete. Seeing her depression, and need for change, Drae sent her away to live with her Aunt, his sister, in the Northlands.
She spent the remainder of her teenage years there, still not completely satisfied. One day she received a sudden impulse to roam. To sail the seas. To see the great mountain, Salamandastron. To feel the sand beneath her toes. To feel water rushing in a waterfall. Maybe help some poor, defenseless beast? That sort of desire could not be quenched. And no matter how hard her Aunt Sae and Uncle Dargin pleaded with her, begged her to stay, she just couldn’t. Fortunately, her Aunt understood, having gone through the same stage in life. The need for every day to be different.
