Appearance:
Age: 24 years
Species: Ferret
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Vrelt is tall and broad-shouldered, much like his father. He has icy blue eyes, the trademark of his family, and his fur betrays his origins. Vrelt has mostly the classic white fur of Pure Ferrets, but he has several patches of dark brown fur, further demonstrating his less than royal ancestors. He has powerful, sinewy arms and legs, with corsair tattoos on his fore-arms, differing in variety from the common ones of pirates, to more exotic looking tattoos from the far west. He is agile and quick, though he lacks the same agility and speed of his half-brother.Vrelt is quick on his feet, extremely smooth in combat, with naturally fast reflexes that gives him an edge over most opponents. He has only been bested once in a duel, by his half-brother, and he has not been beaten since, his strength and agility working together to make him a talented fight. Vrelt wears a variety of tunics, but he always wears his shark-tooth necklace, his dark blue cape, his black corsair pants and his tall sea boots. In general, he avoids the jewelery of the average pirate, though on occasion you might find him displaying some of his impressive wealth.Belongings:
Vrelt sports a swept-hilt broadsword rapier, a long skinning knife, six poisoned daggers, and a crossbow.Job or Position:
Corsair in service of Riftgard, otherwise known as a Privateer.Personality:
Vrelt is one of a kind in terms of personality, much to his half-brother's disapproval. He is considered quite a rouge, much more wild and uncontrolled than Drask, often making decisions on spur of the moment reasoning. This gets him in trouble constantly, whether it's with Drask, or with another corsair. Not to mention his little thought through dealings with many female beasts in his days; that has gotten him in more trouble than anything he has said or done to the king of Riftgard.History and Background Information:
Vrelt possesses a fiery temper, though he is smart enough to control his anger in most circumstances. It is hard for the pirate to display the self control that his brother does, often times not bothering at all with it, and just doing whatever comes to his mind. Vrelt is a headstrong beast, confident in his abilities, whether it be as a corsair, a swordbeast, or a ladies man. His pride is his greatest weakness, and sometimes the ferret will leap at any chance to prove somebeast wrong. Despite his other traits, Vrelt is intelligent, finding ways to outsmart his opponents rather than beat them outright. This intelligence shines through with his dealings as a captain, and sometimes during his visits to Riftgard.
Vrelt was born on the vermin controlled island of Riftgard, to Kralak Darkfang, the current ruler of the island. His mother was a common ferretmaid, with no royal pedigree, and this led to much strife for Kralak and his empire. Kralak was married when his dealings with this other ferretmaid went on, the relationship that led to Vrelt being born, and later, Virek.Any other details:
He spent his first seven years apart from his half-brother, Drask, who was a few days older than him. Vrelt was not a good student for much of his early life, not taking anything seriously, which would lead to his downfall. He was very smart, but he didn't put forth the proper efforts in his studies to learn, until Drask showed up. When Kralak led an attack on Akkladia, to bring back the rightful heir to the throne, it changed Vrelt's outlook. He had been spoiled, taking what he had for granted, he knew that Drask could very well take the kingdom away from him; and he was right.
Vrelt trained hard from age seven, up to age sixteen, fighting to best Drask, though not succeeding in much, except physical strength. He took an interest in the affairs at sea more than leading a ground based military, another reason for his loss of approval. His brother, Virek, was born when he was seven, and though they were blood brothers, Vrelt took little interest in the new Darkfang. Virek seemed a waste of time and energy, and a rival, to Vrelt, while Drask grew close to his new half-brother. When he was sixteen years old, his father's empire finally crumbled, as he was assassinated, by one of the many females to visit his chambers. Vrelt quickly seized control of the fortress, with much of the army backing him, while the royal families, the navy, and the Ratguard all backed Drask. It was a standstill, the leaders of the two groups decided it would be determined like civilized beasts; through a duel. Vrelt may have been a good swordbeast, but Drask bested him. Drask was faster and more polished in his technique, easily countering Vrelt's attacks, and returning with speed and ferocity that Vrelt couldn't match. Vrelt was lucky to have left with his life, his half-brother spared mercy on him, allowing him to command one of the ships in the fleet. That just move began Drask's rule, and began Vrelt's life as a pirate.
Vrelt took control of the Darkblade, and renamed it Vrelt's Pride, quickly earning a reputation as a skilled corsair captain, becoming one of the most profitable of the privateers employed by Drask. He spent most of his time at sea, visiting Riftgard on occasion to offload cargo and treasure that he pillaged. Vrelt was more comfortable at sea for the first few years of captaincy, enjoying all life as a rich corsair had to offer; from the best drinks, to his choice of females.
The corsair often took risks, which for the most part, payed off, but sometimes they didn't. One of these gambles he took led to him fleeing a battle, sailing his damaged vessel to the west, where no pirate in his right mind would go. Though he went father north than the areas of jungle, to a settlement of Minks. The ferret and his crew stayed in the tribe, while they worked to repair the ship, keeping mostly to themselves, for fear the warriors of this tribe would kill them, despite their chief's orders not to. Vrelt was one of the few pirates on the ship to take an interest in the culture of these minks, learning a bit of the language and gained several tattoos that were common in the tribe. The night before he left, the captain had far to much grog, leading to a one night stand with a mink there, who was willing enough. He sailed away, with his ship repaired, and a pregnant mink left there, unknown to him.
Vrelt is still determined to rule Riftgard, and he does his best to annoy his brother, to get under his skin. He hopes his persistence will pay off, and he retakes the crown, though it looks unlikely, for the entire island supports Drask, due to the king's just rule, and his rebuilding of the army and navy, making Riftgard a massive power once again. Vrelt has only the loyalty of his crew, who all look up to their captain, seeing him as a bold leader and a fierce warrior, not to mention a cunning opponent.
Vrelt is brother to Virek, and is Drask's half-brother. He is also Tallula's father, though he has no idea of her existence.
