Appearance:
Age: 20 seasons (or 20 year equivalent)
Species: Black Rat
Gender: Male
Allegiance: Good
Appearance:
Azar is a very tall and strongly built rat with soot-colored fur everywhere but his throat and chest. He is well-groomed and not bad-looking, but his eyes are a slightly unerving red color. An outstanding feature is his unusually long and thick tail, which is as much of a weapon as any sword or spear.Belongings:
His clothing is worn and faded; just a simple leather jerkin and a pair of black pants. On his chest he wears a slightly rusted breastplate of steel. Three belts crisscross around his waist: A red one holding a canteen, a gray one for his club, and a green one for his satchel of medical supplies. In cold weather, rain, or high winds he wears a dark, concealing cloak.
A heavy traveler's pack which contains the following: A small pillow, a wool blanket, three clam shells of different sizes for use as bowls or plates, a carved oak chalice, enough dried fruit, bread and toasted nuts to last a week, his cloak, a short length of rope,a map of the Mossflower region, an old barkcloth, a necklace of blue stones and tiny pearls and a gold medallion set with an aquamarine. On his person are a long-bladed spear, a light club, bandages and healing herbs, and a small canteen of water.Job or Position:
A wandering warrior.Personality:
Azar is a surprisingly friendly creature, always willing to help out anybeast down on their luck. He can't stand crooks or pirates, but usually just tries to avoid those types of beast. He's a passive one, only fighting when cornered and with no other choice. A meek rat, Azar doesn't complain at all and never stands out much in a crowd. He has a well defined sense of right and wrong which he will stubbornly defend.History and Background Information:
Azar collects all sorts of junk; he's a bit of a packrat (no pun intended).
Azar was born the only son and heir of the Scourgetail family in Northeast Mossflower. He grew up in his family's woodland manor, recieving a good education and a decent upbringing. At the age of 16 he decided to set out on his own and see the world despite disagreements with his parents.Any other details:
Only a week into his journey, his inexperience with the wide world quickly showed: He failed to notice the rainclouds bunching one day and was caught in a torrential downpour. Trying to escape the rain, Azar stumbled into a camp of foxes, weasels, and other rats. He asked for shelter until the rain stopped from the apparent leader, a former corsair fox named Axeburn, who accepted Azar (almost too readily). The young rat naively turned his back to a henchrat who knocked him out with a club on Axeburn's command. When he woke he was in chains, all his good clothes and belongings stolen, and doomed to sale as a galley slave for Axeburn's corsair brethren.
He was spared this fate by Silverwake, an old and deceptively feeble-looking otter armed only with a long-bladed spear. The ancient otter easily trounced all of the corsair slavers and sent them scurrying. Azar and Silverwake soon became friends, and the young rat stayed with the aging otter for two seasons, learning how to fight with a spear, paw-to-paw combat, and survival skills. Silverwake then gave Azar his treasured spear as a parting gift, which Azar immediately named "Silverwake" after his mentor.
Azar now roams far and wide, trying his best to see the world and help others as Silverwake the otter helped him.

(Formerly in this profile was this reference to Azar's lineage:
"his family name an ominous hint as to who his ancestors were. Azar's powerful tail offers clues as well. The Scourgetail family descends from well-documented accounts of a young Cluny the Scouge's multiple mates."
Well, Cluny wouldn't have been born yet in this new plot, so we can't have that bit no more! But I knew Cara liked that part, so I've kept it visible here just for kicks. )
