"Sam," the catmaid smiled guiltily at her brother, still standing there in Calvin's protective embrace. "I'm actually already . . . ready. We just thought, well, Mr. Garret here. He doesn't really have anything appropriate to wear this evening and we thought maybe something of yours might be sufficient for the occasion."
Even though she was a bit uncomfortable with her little brother seeing her this close to a male, she didn't make any move to part with Calvin. In stead, as propriety demanded she made introductions. "Sam this is, Calvin. He's my er friend."

Sam looked at Calvin, and shrugged. He highly doubted they were just friends, but he looked cultured enough, and it wasn't his place to judge. "Fair enough. Please come with me." He said, and gestured for them to follow him to his room, which was close. He indicated that Garret enter, then he closed the door and waited. One could at first hear nothing, then the rustling of cloth, followed by various strapping noises, a few clicks, and a chuckle. Garret walked out dressed rather fine (http://www.suitsmen.co.uk/suit-images/full-size/boys-morning-suit---tailcoat-1.jpg That is the best looking suit that was worn during the 1800s I could find, don't knock me on it ), with an amused smile on his face. Albeit, his sword was still visible, but he didn't plan on leaving that, and it wasn't exactly consealable. Sam Grinned. "It's about right. A little small, but, it certainly works." Garret nodded slightly, and looked at Ivy. "Well, now that I'm looking spiffy, what's next on the itinerary?"

Calvin had a small messed up thought about what had happened, but shooed it away immediately. He nodded, not taking his hands off of Ivy, nor even thinking about his hands. Since this wasnt his say in the matter, he was silent.

Ivy smiled. "I suppose we go join the party. Not many creatures will have arrived yet but Calvin knows someone in the band, don't you, Calvin?" Then the catmaid frowned. It probably wouldn't do for the other guests to see 'Mr. Fairfax' fraternizing with common musicians. "And about that . . ."

Calvin nodded, and unwillingly removed his arms from Ivy to let her free. He felt strangely deprived after releasing her, as if part of him was removed from his body and he couldnt get it back. "After you, M-miss Ivy." he gestured shakily. His ears did perk up as a saxophone began soloing. Calvin recognized the flair on each note, and immediately knew who it was. Uh-oh...

"I'm guessing there's some issue with 'Mr. Fairfax' knowing this person? Is it that they might ruin his night, in one way or another, or do we simply dislike him?" Garret asked, a slight smile upturning the corners of his mouth. He shrugged his shoulders, letting the harness for the massive amounts of weaponry settle more comfortably.

Calvin shook his head. "N-no, no problem. I highly doubt any issues from him, and even if he is after any, i saw how many people were requesting songs, so he'll be busy for a while." Calvin said as he watched a few guns rise and fall on Garret's chest. "You'd think you have too many weapons there. This is simply a dinner party, not some combat situation where firepower is needed." He didn't mention anything about the chuckle that he had heard, which amused him dearly.
"If you must know, the musician is my brother."
