Your character's full name: Varak
Age: 24
Species: Grey Weasel
Gender: Male
Allegiance: Neutral
Appearance:
Age: 24
Species: Grey Weasel
Gender: Male
Allegiance: Neutral
Appearance:
He is a Grey Weasel. A species of weasel commonly found in the Middle Kingdoms territory. (Often up in the cold North) A species prone to minor polydactylism. Often having only an extra toe or foot claw. Most Grey Weasels are either strong yet overweight as tyrants or lean with a bit of muscle for the perfect blend of speed and power as warriors.Belongings:
Varak is a little different. Mainly average though a little on the skinny and tall side though not too much. Has dark grey eyes with a well taken care of medium gray pelt with a white lower jaw, neck, chest, and belly.
A little special thing about him is his sword paw. (which is his left paw (Pretty rare in Redwall world more than likely ) ) Has seven claws instead of five with an extra thumb and pinky claw. The pinky claw works well though the thumb claw only moves and grips when the primary one does.
Despite the fact he became the adopted son of a pirate lord brother in a far away palace in the Eastern Jungles. (This place being some of the few places in the area NOT conquered and controlled by the Mong Com) It is the fact that the Gang Brother had taken this palace pier to the Eastern Jungle war that allows him to have the more expensive and better things in life to have and wear.Job or Position:
He wears his old expensive silk dark purple shirt embroidered with silver stitching, a plan black hakama with a black polished belt with a black and silver polished scabbard.
He often does not wear armour due to being so high up in society that he is not required to fight in the front lines at all. Though if he had to. He would likely choose plate or chain mail.
Due to his seven fingered sword paw. He has few options for anything but longer war swords. Sabre and rapier handles are too small for his paw to fit in, even more so with the guards.
Thanks to being involved in the lives of the Gang Brothers and they're other adopted sons though, his adoptive father decided to surprise him with a gift. A beautifully made Jian. With a long, light, straight, keen double edged blade with a point that could punch chain and plates through, a polished silver/platinum alloy (with maybe some other small amounts of metals to make it even more tougher and more durable) doubled sea snake head hilt and a pointed pommel (useful for punching a hole in somebeast's head), a perfectly lengthened rayskin handle wrapped in black leather and silk dark purple tassels hanging from the pommel. Making it a beautiful blade to behold and hold.
Most other weapons like daggers are used with his secondary paw. Due to the fact once again that his seven clawed paw cannot use the smaller hilted weapons well.
His paw also prevents him from using a some ranged weapons well. Thankfully due to being in a empire that is both powerful, wealthy and because it is made up of pirates. Inventive, resourceful and creative. The Crossbow and Blowgun are the weapons he is best at in the ranged catagory.
Was ruling a small part of the Northern Territory of the Middle Kingdoms as a Count, but his two other brothers over powered and kicked him out. Now he is the adopted son of one of the three powerful mongoose Pirate Lords known as the Gang Brothers.Personality:
Grey Weasels are often the most well known for being either two things. Horrible and Greedy Tyrants, Dictators, Counts, Warlords, and Viceroys or Powerful and Fearsome Warriors, Captains, Knights, Swash Bucklers and Generals.History and Background Information:
Varak is a strange grey weasel. He always wanted two things. His wealth he has now and the wish to enjoy life while he is still living it. Leaving most of the more important things in life to his Advisers and Generals when he was a Count. He is carefree mostly, easily bored when more serious things come into play, does not take too many things seriously unless they are directed at him, lacks a sense of responsibility and a bit lazy and unwilling to sit around and do papers all day. He is the type that often tries taking shortcuts and takes the easy way out to solve and fix his problems. Though often these acts of simple problem solving sometimes blow up in his face and backfire.
Although he is quite intelligent. He (As stated before) is unwilling to put any effort in raking his brain for anything more advanced and sophisticated.
Despite this. He is known to have one thing. Much more luck than he has bad luck... and luck often comes to his doorstep...
Born in a set of triplet brothers. His father and mother died due to illness in the often snowy, and freezing North of the Middle Kingdoms when they were at the age of sixteen. They're father was a obese and horrible tyrant who gripped a good piece of the North in an iron paw and kept it in paw from many other tyrants, dictators, viceroys, counts and warlords. The land was split between the three brothers, each one taking a equal piece of they're father's land.Any other details:
Unlike the other pieces of land. Most peasants and civilians liked Varak's land the best and beasts often moved there to live happier lives. This was due to the fact Varak was too lazy and unmotivated to be a horrible tyrant or count as he called himself. Often letting his advisers and generals do most of the work for him while he laid around and watched jesters make fools out of themselves just to entertain him. Varak's empire was becoming very wealthy and powerful and he was not even doing one thing about it to make it so!
Unfortunately, this would be where his lack of effort to have any control of his own land or motivation to build up his military power would blow up in his face and backfire.
His two brothers. Enraged and jealous of the fact he was getting off as the better and more wealthier ruler by doing nothing at all. Ganged up they're forces and suddenly attacked him in a two year war that finally ended up the count being forced off his own land and to lose everything he had.
Having nothing left of his past life other than a good long hilt war sword and the cloths and armour on his back. He decided to travel off to Mossflower Country by going West of the Middle Kingdoms. (The very Middle of the "Middle Kingdoms" is really nothing but dense and huge forest, wood and some areas of villages and bogs with dirt paths. Often full of small barbarian tribes, bandits and highwaybeasts, Hermits and villagers, or if your superstitious. Monsters and ghosts too)
Unfortunately, fate had a different plan for him (not to mention that because he never traveled once in his entire life and had no map he had gotten lost and made a wrong turn) and he ended up going East. Though just south enough to miss most of the Eastern Kingdoms and just North enough to miss the Southern Kingdoms (Including the Royal Pure Ferret Kingdom) and ended up in the Eastern Jungle. (Before the Mong Com became a massive threat and the a war against them was started, though during this time they were many and they had destroyed some empires)
There he forced himself through nothing but dense, wet and nearly unforgiving jungle with no more paths to follow while slowly losing hope of any chance of finding any real place to live at that would except his kind.
Suddenly he was ambushed by five mong com soldiers,(most "soldiers" though are really just peasants with no real training and are just given weapons and sent off into war) but thanks to swordplay and dueling being one of the things the weasel had enough interest and motivation in practicing and doing. Killed all but one, the leader. A big mountain weasel. Although this scout leader didn't have any better training or experience than his lackeys. He did have one special thing about it. A large dao made from the metals of a "star that fell out of the sky." (look at other details)
With this special blade, the Mountain Weasel left the Grey Weasel with a look of shock on his face as he stared at his war sword, who's blade had been snapped almost off at the hilt. Giving the Mountain Weasel plenty of time to pull the large blade back for the killing blow.
Finally. Good luck found the Grey Weasel Varak. The Mountain Weasel was stopped in mid swing by a sudden volley of arrows. Now the grey weasel found himself surrounded by barbarians and tribal beasts who had tattoos, bone and teeth earrings, necklaces, bracelets and pawrings. Creatures with dark brown fur and no white bellies. (who look weasel and mongoose in appearance)
To his surprise. These creatures did not kill him. They took him in with them as they traveled seaward. Feed him, fixed his thirst and allowed him to travel in complete safety with them. Escorting him and a few other strangers to the jungle to an ally they recently made. To a amazing place! A Place consisting of a massive palace, seaport, dock and town surrounded by three massive thick walls that would withstand the worst of sieges! A place not even the biggest Mong Com army could conquer!
This place of the kingdom of three Pirate Lords. To some of the most powerful pirates to ever live, second only in power to Herrick himself! The Gang Brothers!
He started off as a peasant like about 45% of beasts were there. (The rest being soldiers and pirates) With only a pack with some drink and wood from the tribal beasts, the cloths on his back, whatever coins of silver and gold he had left and the very dao that nearly killed him. ( Ironically a Tyrant Ruler's special sword during the divided land era)
Well... Maybe he didn't start right off as a peasant, but he was slowly, but surely going down to it. He started off with enough coin to pass himself off as a middle class beast, only spending his coins on food, water and other needs and only few wants. He also owned a very small hut with enough space for himself and the stuff he had. He only did short and easy jobs for money so he could enjoy the rest of the day sight seeing or laying around.
Though the entire time, even when he was laying around sight seeing. He was often feeling alone and slightly scared. Being a creature that was a newcomer. He was often the target for petty pickpockets and bandits. Fortunately as stated before. One of the interests he DID have enough interest and motivation to learn was sword fighting and other styles of combat where his seven claw paw would not get in the way and also the fact he unknowingly had a dead ruler's sword allowed him to often come out on top of these matches.
That's when he suddenly had his idea of a job to make coin. By setting up a ring and daring anyone to cross blades with him. If he won. They would have to pay him, if he lost or died. They could take his.
Opening day to a few weeks later was where he had the most customers. Pirates mostly, thinking of giving the new comer the welcoming hello into the real hard life of the world of the lower class. Planning on beating the snot out of the weasel.
Unfortunately for them, luck was on the weasel's side once again. The combination of good swordsbeastship and the fact he wielding a special sword that was keen and strong enough to chop through the steel of sword blades and the thick wood shafts of spears made sure he always saw victory and never once defeat. His opponents often giving up and paying him after they were disarmed or overwhelmed by the weasels better swordplay.
After a few weeks though, the weasels reputation as a powerful swords beast and the rumor he had a "magic sword." caused less and less beasts to come challenge him. Making his quick and easy money making shortcut slow business.
Luck was on the weasel's side yet again. Gang Ning. A mongoose pirate lord who ruled the place along with his two other brothers. Was seeking to adopt a son because he was way too busy running The military and defence of the place to find a mate and produce one in his own blood. Decided to seek one out within the walls of the home he and his brothers made themselves at. Liking the weasel's calm nature and skillfulness with a blade. He took the weasel in as his adopted son. Later on sealing the deal by taking his dao and having an expert blacksmith badger make it into a new weapon. A beautifully made Jian Sword. Which was later presented to the weasel as a gift to seal the deal that they would forever be, father and son.
Now pretty much he is right where he started in a society short of way. Treated like royalty and served paw and footpaw like before. Though with a big difference. A living father who unlike his past father, gives a rat's tail about him enough to constantly bug, berate and irate him into constantly doing the things that he never had the motivation and interest in even trying to learn, and if that does not work. The constant threat of the mongoose's blade tip poking his back will. Forcing him to learn boring subject and take and have some responsibility for the future job he will have as ruler after his father finally passes away with either death by blade or death by age. Which really leaves him little time to do anything other than sleep for the night or maybe a bit of swordplay.
This causes the weasel to sometimes miss his past life, back in the North lands of the Middle Kingdoms. Back home when he was ruler of his own little land. Able to do whatever he wanted and didn't need to worry about anything. Back than before his brother attacked him. Back than when he could do the one thing he loved the most. Enjoy life while he still had it....
Although it is rare for such a thing to happen, (happening only once in the books) and it DOES happen rarely. Though when that rarity does happen. It may happen in one place more often than others. Though the most historic one i may present you would have been an event called "The Gathering of Ambition." An event involving a falling star (metal meteorite) and the Eastern Lands... (Including the Eastern Jungles)
It happened during an era were a old empire was soon to fall and become a divided land, ruled by warlords, rulers and leaders of great will and ambition. A quite large star fell from the heavens and crashed into the recent emperor of the dieing empire's massive palace. (Not the one the Gang Brothers have now) Knowing his empire, after generations of his family line ruling it, would soon fall. He decided to invite all of those warlords, rulers and leaders who would soon each own a large part of land when his empire fell. Using the star's metals. He allowed the making of special weapons for them all. Weapons that were perfect, weapons that could shatter or cut through steel or iron blades. Weapons only those with great leadership and ambition could own and wield into battle.
Soon this emperor died from a combination of depression and illness and like he predicted. The empire fell. Becoming a divided land with territories owned by well over twenty or so rulers. Wars broke out on an almost daily basis. Some rulers lost they're lives and territory, some had sons to pass they're weapons and empire down too, some had been betrayed and they're empires were taken over by they're own strategist or general. As stated before. Wars were almost a daily basis.
Finally. Many many beasts got tied of these wars, tired of losing they're loved ones, tired of it all. A new emperor was chosen secretly amongst them to bring back the old empire. Bring back peace onto the land.
This emperor had no special blade to wield into battle, but he did have the beasts on his side, hope and determination to bring back to land to what it once was. This beast became the cause of the remaining ruler's or they're son's complete and utter fall.
Slowly, but surely. Each territory fell and more of the land was united. Finally. All the rulers or they're sons had either died off from age, illness or went out fighting and they're land was taken till the land was reunited. Though out of respect and the fact he never needed a special blade of his own to use and did not need one now that peace had came back to the land. He decided to leave those weapons with them in they're tombs. They're tombs being the very palaces or castles they had started they're rain of ambition and will from.
Many eras later. These palaces would be raided by Mong Com soldiers and these weapons are one of the many things they had gotten they're filthy paws on....
