Toboe closed the door behind so the robin wouldn't get out and walked over to it. He knelt in front of it quietly and stared at it pensievely for a few moments, giving it the chance to make the first move.

Hans grabbed a long sword and tested its edge. It needs to be sharpened. He thought. He sat down on a chair and started to sharpen the long blade. He looked at the other weapons. Might be a weapon other than this sword i might like to use....

The bird, still reasonably wawry and frightened, scooted back to the far end of the chamber, watching Toboe with his dark brown eyes. He merely kept his distance, and retained his silence.

Toboe watched him for a moment before holding out a piece of bread in his paw to see if the bird trusted him enough to take it. If it did, then he had a chance of convincing it to carry their letter.

Cole had been thinking and had thought hard on using the cogs again. But what he wanted the most is to have that bird send that letter to the other beasts at the other dock. Have them seek Allies and territories and more beasts to join his own forces. But if he is forced to go on a cog there just to have that happen. He will.
When he gave the long sword very sharp edges. He noticed this might make a very good battle blade. It had a brass hilt and handle and a very strong blade. He would make it one of his weapons to keep. But what other things can he get from this armory?
The Fox sat up and started looking for other weapons.

The robin glanced first at the cat, then at the food, gazing hungrily at the morsel. He stepped forward a pace, but then stepped back as he caught himself. He had certainly had a bad winter, with no food, nowhere to fly, and now this... He finally opened his beak to talk.
"What you want, eh?" a pause as he attempted to clear his throat. "Why all this? Why you offer food to Reddab?" It was clear that the bird hadn't interacted with woodlanders in a long time, from his speech. The dark brown eyes once again focused warily on the cat.

Toboe smiled kidnly and set the food down in easy reach of the bird. We need help from our forces across the island, but it's too dangerous to go by ground because of pike. We need someone to go by air to deliver a message for us. Would you be willing to do this for us, Reddab?

Hans looked at the weapons. He liked the Baselard Dagger, a mace, A Falchion. But wait! What is this!?
Hans noticed something. There was a door with a large lock on it. It was rusted with time. So it might be able to be opened. The Fox grabs a mace and bashed the lock a few times till it finally broke and fell to the ground. The fox opened the door. No one had entered the room behind this door for many many seasons.
There. A large sword. Bigger than even the long sword he had sharpened. hung there on the wall from a gold plaque. A huge sword! Six Feet long! It's long two handed handle black and hilt large. It had Parrying hooks. Red gems decorating it's hilt and pommels. It was a intimidating. Yet beautiful sword. It was a Zweihänder.
Hans pulled the sword of and was surprised that it was not as heavy as it looked. It was certainly able to be used with balance and ease. Which was good for him. He wished to use it in battle whenever it happened. He tested its edge. It was not a display sword. It had been used before. It's blade was very keen.
Right there he made his choice. This would be a weapon he would certainly use in battle. As he left the armory. He also took a gladius with a scabbard with him.

"I sees."
Reddab eyed the food, then pecked at it some, testing to see if it was poisoned or something. Vermin, especially cats in his book, weren't to be trusted. Cats, he heard, ate birds regularly... Tasting nothing toxic, he gobbled up the food in an instant. "Pwomise t' let Reddab go, though?" He spoke with a full mouth, crumbs unintentionally falling from his beak.
-------------------------------------------
But, if Hans cared to notice, there was also an empty weapon rack, one that held a much smaller item. A dirk was missing. the day before, it had been sitting placidly upon the wooden weapon holder, gleaming in the light, its green pommel freshly polished. Now empty space remained. Nothing else appeared to be missing, only the dirk.

Toboe watched the bird eat and nodded. I promise that you will be set free, even if I have to sneak you out myself. I won't let you come to any harm, my friend. You have my solemn word, sworn on my parents's graves.

Hans went to his chambers to practice with the sword. It had been a long while since he used one. Richard The Great had taught him many things about the art of Longsword combat. He was surprised at the weight and balance of this unique longsword that never in his life had ever seen. The Parrying Hooks were the most unique. It seemed to him that the area behind the parrying hooks is like a secondary handle as so to allow the sword to be wielded more effectively at close quarters.
When he was done with practicing. He sat down on his bed and laid the sword on his lap. I wonder how Toboe is doing with that bird.....

Reddab still gazed upon the cat with doubt, but there was something about the way he said his promise. Maybe... Maybe it was sincerity? It was the best chance he had besides trying to bash the door down. He probably couldn't do that anyways. The bird imitated his approxamation of a nod. "H'okay.... Reddab will help you..."

Toboe smiled kindly and set down some more bread for the hungry bird. Thank you, Reddab. I really appreciate you doing this for us. I'm sorry if I was rough with you earlier. I hope I didn't hurt you.

"Reddab is fine..." He ate the bread at the same alarming rate as it was set out. He licked the crumbs from his beak as he finished. "Uh... What be your name, cat?" The bird asked in a curious voice. Surely he would want to learn of this beast's name. A cat making deals with birds was very interesting indeed.

Toboe sat down and set another piece of bread out for the bird. My name is Toboe Hawktalon. Nice to meet you Reddab. If you don't mind my asking, where are you from? Are you from here or somewhere else?
