A cloaked figure walked unhurridly through the dry, dusty path. His footfalls making little sound, and rising no clouds of dust. His hood overshadowed most of his face, leaving the white 'tooth' marks on his snout quite visible. His bony, white arms hung over a long ebony stave. Grey, matte chain links wrapped tightly around the staff. At one end, was a four pronged weight swinging slighly with the rhythmn Jasyn's footsteps made. The other end was attatched to a fearsome blade affixed to the staff through a notch at the top. The black blade hung down, and shone wickedly through the dying light of the sun. The shadows seemed eager to throw themselves in the figures path, and seemed to conspire to hide him from unwanted spies. Jasyn stopped and, not moving his head, called out. "I know you are there, pest. You have been following since my last employers camp. I can't stand sneaks, so come to where I can see you. Preferable in front of me. If you don't, you may find that you wish you had." The words were calm, and no rancor was threaded through the speach, yet the words had a strangly unnerving quality that would knock unprepared listeners of their feet. Jasyn waited.

The creature came out of hiding. This stoat. By looks alone. Had to have been a barbarian. He wore skins, he had a buckler shied, and even more notably. A Large battle axe in his right paw. The Ugly beast smiled as he poke "And ya may find that you would make a nice cloak! Now hand over whatever-"
The stoat suddenly dropped to his back. Killed by a arrow that had struck him in the head.
"I would watch myself around here. The numbers of Barbarian Tribes have been rising since they were chased into these woods by the Beasts From Hellgates. Your lucky. This one was alone. They often comes in groups of at lest ten or fifteen." The speaker's words were coming from the Merc's side. Only a turn of his head would show him the shooter. Hans Vermeer stood out of the trees onto the path. The Arctic Fox had a strange looking bow in his paws. Not like small or longbows. But a very powerful bow indeed. The fox smiled and spoke again. "What are you doing here alone friend? A traveler?"

"A mercenary." Jasyn still didn't show any outward signs of acknowledging anyone else's existance. "May I ask why you followed me from the marlfox warlord's campsight? There are other ways of following me, and most of them get you into less trouble." Jasyn lifted his head, and the hood of his cloak fell down his neck, revealing a deathmask. His skull-like visage and grey eyes aimed straight at the bowbeast. "A fellow fox..."He murmered. He removed one of his skeletal hands from the weapon resting on his shoulders and lifted his hood again. He faced down and returned his hand to it's resting spot on the staff. The glimpse of his face would give most beasts nightmares, it was still questionable whether or not it would give this newcomer dark dreams. Jasyn resumed his walking, not knowing or caring whether or not the archer would follow and answer

Surprisingly. The Fox laughed. "Marlfox? Please tell me your not another madbeast that believes in such things. Marlfoxes are just a bunch of Foxes that more likely had traveled south of the Land of Ice and Snow and got knocked on the head by something. There is not much different between them and i. Because we are the same species. In short. There are no such thing as "Marlfoxes" Only Arctic Foxes. Get it?" Noticing the fox walking off. He spoke out even more. "So if you are an Mercenary. That would mean you would serve or work for anyone who is willing to give you what you wish for right? Food? A home?" The fox smiled as he said the words that might catch the mercenary by the hood and stop him on the spot. "Wealth and Currency?"

"Whether or not I believe in Marlfoxes is none of your concern, archer." Jasyn didn't stop, not untill he heard what Hans said. Jasyn turned his head slightly. "Money is my only concern now, archer. Why do you ask, are you willing to buy me?" Jasyn stood motionless. He didn't expect a single archer to be able to afford him. His price was big, and few but the most wealthy could offer enough to placate him. He wasn't too greedy, but he was well aware of his worth, and he wanted others to know it as well. This turn of events was interesting though. Followed by an arctic fox from his last encampment, and seemingly offered another job."My price, archer, may be more than you could ever scrounge up. Unless you have someone who would be glad enough for my services."

"Someone else? When i take the Great South Stream into my possession. I can build docks and start trade with the Far South Desert Empires and with the Northern Kingdoms? There will be a lot to be gained from them. But also. There are still "richer" tribes in the new worlds."
The New Worlds were lands that creatures found by sail. It was full of tribes. Most of them Raccoons. Those who had came there had came back with massive amounts of gold, silver and the such. Even after the Great Wars. It seems the North and South Empires and Kingdoms might have another go at each other. So trading food and drinks and such resources and trading stone to the North for walls and castle and such could net any lucky beast with almost unlimited amounts of wealth. The Arctic Fox seems to have this all wrapped up into one huge plan. If he has plans like this. It's more likely obvious that he might have a army and a castle somewhere in these woods...

"You have plans to conquer. That is of no concern of mine. What concerns me, is how much you are willing to pay. My base price per week is twenty gold coins, and a pound of powdered Deathgaze mushroom at the end of the employment. Can you afford that, Conquerer? And also, do you really want me under your command?" Jasyn was intrigued now. Who was this arctic fox with plans to become a powerful warlord? In anycase, the mercenary just hoped that the payment would come, and on time.

"That a impressive amount of cost. You like to show how good you are as a Mercenary huh? A pound of Deathgaze Mushrooms? Alright. Sure. You might be a interesting fighter. I am High King Hans Vermeer by the way. My force maybe a little small. But they are some of the best anybeast can have. They had already bagged me a good amount of riches and land." The large arctic fox seemed so sure that he would be able to take the Great South Stream and even maybe some other territory. He had already taken Marlfox Island and most of the land around the land easily. All he needed was the stream and he would have a easy shot at tripling his amount of riches with such simple ideas. It was strange no other beasts with hordes had ever thought of this...

Underneath the mask of shadows he wore, Jasyn grinned. It would look freaky, if you peaked under his hood, to see a doubly grinning skull. Jayns turned, and removed his weapon from his shoulders. The blade curved high over his head, and the weight lay heavily in the dust. The mercenary extended one skeleton's hand to the other fox. "If you'll accept my offer that easily, your either very rich, very desperate, or very foolish. In any case, you have my services Hans, don't abuse them."

The fox took the fellow foxes' paw and shook it. "Trust me. If we manage to take the Great South Stream and gain the trade alliance of the North and South Empires and Kingdoms. We'll both be very rich. Not to forget an easy battle against New World savages." The Fox was confident. If he ever got trade going and send some corsairs to "take" some of the riches of the New World savages. If he ever keep workers and resources and the such high. He would be unstoppable. His Kingdom was getting stronger and more powerful by the days!
