The forest night was surprisingly quiet. Only the flickering of fires and the sound of vermin chatting was the only sounds heard in this part of the woods. Though a few were Searats who had in their times sailed pirate ships and raided coasts. Most were either Water Rats or Black Rats. Black rats were different than the common Brown Rats. They lack swimming ability and were a little shorter but they were more agile and could climb trees quickly. All of them were in chainmail or plate armor with helmets. Armed with spears, halberds, machetes, falchions, arming swords, partisans, Longbows, daggers and some of the searats kept their scimitars and cutlasses with them when they turned to serve the Marlfoxes.
There was also a special forces of black rats. They mostly wore the same color camouflage cloaks the Marlfoxes wore over their breastplate armor. Mainly because they used one weapon that could easily turn a battle to their Ally's favor. Powerful long bows! With Bobkin and poison tipped arrows. They are powerful bow beasts.
This army of sixty had set up camp. All in their tents, near the fires or scouting. Eating fish, birds or their supplies and drinking fine wines or water. Searats drank Seaweed Grog too. But lets forget about these creatures for a minute and go on to their leaders...
Julia. A Beautiful but deadly Marlfox. Was sitting next to her own fire. Waiting for her two brothers to return. Her dinner was mainly a roasted bird and a drink of damson wine. He pale eyes scanned the camp and her soldiers. She remembered the day when she decided to leave her home for adventure. Her father and mother would not allow it unless her brothers and these rats were allowed to join. At first she had dreaded the thought. But now. She did not feel as restrained or slowed down. For they were under her and her brothers' command. Her parents also wanted her to find and bring back treasures and riches whenever she had finished her adventures. With was fine with her. Whenever her family got riches and treasure. All family members each got a share. So there was no arguing about that little mission...

((OK! Here goes:)) ----------------------------------------------
A set of fierce amethyst eyes watched the Marlfoxes' camp from a rocky outcrop hidden by the winter skeletons of bushes. Xalato Six Rings was big for a racoon, so it took all of his powers of stealth to stay hidden. But he was sitting on a pinecone...
As carefully as possible he changed positions. Then he reread his instructions that Lord Zemunaz had given him. Xalato frowned, making his brutal features become even more intimidating.
These don't make no sense!, he thought discontentedly. What would killin' th' daughter fox be any good for?!? He grumbled slightly, locking his gaze onto the back of Julia's head. He was bound by duty to do this act, but his own ethics held him back. Xalato was seriously considering desertion...
That bird looks pretty damn good..., he mused, drooling slightly as he averted his hawk-like gaze from his target, If I could only... Nah, tha's stealin'..."
The hefty racoon went back to slumping dejectedly in his vantage point, waiting for something to happen to create a diversion...

Stormgaze peered up through the woods, away from his own camp and to the Marlfox one. Markimm wouldn't be to happy if these foxes planned to clash with him and his own army. The lord would want to know about them as soon as he could. The ferret ran off to his own camp, and into the wildcat's tent.
Quite awhile later, Markimm emerged, Stormgaze trailing in his wake. The warlord rounded up a few of his best warriors and strode across the underbrush to the camp. He walked whithin the light cast by the fire closest to him, and peered around at the vermin. He stayed silent long enough to cause unrest among the rabble, then he spoke. "Vermin, take news to your master that I wish to talk, face-to-face."

Although some of the lower ranked "Beasts-at-arms" type of vermin were slightly uneasy with the wildcat. The Special Elite Force were not scared. They had expressionless faces and had their Long Bows pointed at the cat just in case. Not all of them where there though. Some of the Long Bow wielding beasts where hidden. A searat captain gave an order to one of his beasts. "Get Julia or one of 'er brothers quickly." The black rat ran off. Heading for Julia's fire to give the report. ____________________________________________________
"You know it is foolish to try to sneak up on Marlfoxes right?" One of Julia's Brothers had noticed the raccoon up in the tree. He was right behind him now with his battle axe in his paw. As soon as this raccoon turned around. He would smack him over the head with the flat of his axe blades. A attempt to knock him out.

Markimm stood calmly, his paws held loosly clasped behind him. His green gaze scanned the camp, and he marked out the various vermin with longbows trained on him and his guard. His hand didn't twitch, or move towords the sword hilt over his left shoulder. He knew that he needed to be as unintimidating and to seem as harmless as a warlord could be. If he made one wrong move, those arrows would be in him before he could protest once.
Stormgaze was becoming extremely uncomfortable. He couldn't be as at-ease as his supiriour. He fidgeted and had to force himself to keep his hands as far away as possible from his wrist blade hilts. The calm vermin around him with the bows trained on his group unnerved him.

Xalato flinched and tensed when he heard the marlfox's voice, but he did not turn. He continued to stare steadily at the newly arrived wildcat and the ferret that waited nervously beside him as he answered.
"Foolish, maybe, fox." The racoon mercenary silently slid his dirk out of its sheath, "Did ya also know that it's pretty stupid t' sneak up on one of Zemunaz's?" In one swift motion the racoon spun around and held up his dirk in parrying position.

The Marlfox brother swung his axe. He knew he already had the upper paw. One. His foe was on the end of the branch and number two. His double headed blades are a lot bigger than the creatures dagger. "Time to die assassin!"
Julia had quickly turned and noticed the raccoon. She pulled her own axe out and pointed a claw at the raccoon. "Archers! Get that creature! Don't hit my brother though!"

Xalato grimaced; now he would have to get drawn into this whole damn business... Ah, well: He would only have to pull out all of his old tricks to squeeze out of this one. The racoon dropped like a large furry stone from the branch, but before hitting the ground he dug his claws into the bark of the tree, slowing him down. He hit the ground running and swerved straight for the line of archers, wisely choosing the section farthest from Julia. If he knew anything about marlfoxes it was that they were as deadly in combat as a windstorm...

Markimm made a small sound of laughter as he spotted the lone racoon dash across the woodland. The beast was bold, he had to admit, to charge a line of archers with no visible advantage. The wildcat was extremely amused, but he decided not to help. He would benifit more by remaining neutral in the whole escapade. If he seemed like a potential ally, the marlfox's would be more hesitant in ordering their troops to open fire on him and his small patrol. If, however, he decided to help the racoon, he would show that he was a definate enemy, and things would become hard to dodge. There's no doubt that Markimm would escape with his life intact, but most of the vermin with him would indeed perish in trying to escape. Oh, well. Markimm resigned himself to watch, while he waited for one of the marlfoxes to see him.

Julia was not going to let this raccoon attempt to kill her and get away with it. She screamed out her order. "Longbowbeasts! I want that raccoon alive or DEAD!" Her brother jumped down the tree from the lowest branch and almost attempted to chase the raccoon. But held himself. He did not want to end up being hit by an arrow....
Most of the time. The Longbowbeasts killed any beast. So the "alive" part really should have not even been said. They fired their arrows at the raccoon. Attempting to hit him in the head or chest. Beasts with smaller bows joined in. Attempting to hit the raccoon.
Another of Julia's bothers. The third marlfox. Had returned from his scouting when he heard his sister scream an order. He was quick to the camp. Right behind the line of bowbeasts. His axe at the ready.

Xalato saw the arrows coming and grinned humorlessly. Then with a speed unbecoming of his bulky appearance he dropped to all fours and charged forward like a rhino. He felt smaller arrows whiff inches by him, but the longbowbeasts were much better at adjusting their aim; arrows dug temporary furrows in his fur and two or three grazed him across his back. Only one particularly good shot found his shoulder, but it was not a lethal wound.
The bowbeasts did not have a chance to reload their bows before Xalato's reckless speed sent him in among them. With learned presicion he struck out with his paws, tail, and fangs, not stopping his assault to see if he had done damage or not. In his peripherals he saw the three marlfoxes approaching. They were the biggest threat, so he would have to track their movements closely.
