Gemma sniffed the air at his question. "Mmmm, have you ever had stew for breakfast? It's one of Taure's specialties especially good on a cold morning and I smell," she thought, "bacon, scones. . . and pasties. Mmmm. I'm not gonna be able to walk I'll be so full."

"I've done that before." As he got up Batou said, "And from the sound of things, I'll end up doing so again right now." Batou then proceeded to get in line for the food. "What do you want? I'll get you some if you want me to."

"That's okay, I don't mind coming along to get my own," she didn't mind standing in line if it meant spending more time with him before she had to leave. And while they were there she introduced him to everyone. She got a few raised eyebrows from her troupe members when she introduced the big badger as her friend but she didn't really pay attention. She just hopped he wasn't embarrassed by the looks. And she hopped that they wouldn't tell him anything embarrassing about her while she was gone.

"Oh. Alright, then," Batou said as he made room for her. As she introduced him, he also did the same for himself. "Then his turn came up. "Hello, Taure. This breakfast looks delicious, just like your dinner was last night," he said as he dished his food.

((I'll let her know once she gets back. We'll be IM'ing for a bit once she returns, so I'll tell her then.))

Taure smiled at him and handed him a plate. Thank you, Batou. I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner last night. I hope you enjoy your breakfast too. She stretched, in an attempt to loosen her muscles for the day's upcoming chores.

"Yes, it was very good dinner, and this looks like great breakfast, too. Thanks, Taure," Batou said as he left the line with his food. "I'll save you a seat," he called out to Gemma as he walked off.

Gemma waved at him as he walked away, "Alright, thanks, I'll be there in a minute." Then she turned back to Tauri and whispered, "What do you think of him, Taure? Seriously, I want to know your opinion?" Gemma knew that even without her sight, Taure was a very wise beast. She respected the vixen's council and often asked for her advice.

Taure handed Gemma a plate of food and smiled. I think he's a very nice creature. You're one lucky gal if'n everything works out atwixt the two of you. I wish I could find someone special...

"Oh I'm sure you will one day," Gemma said rather quickly and then returned to the subject of Batou, "but you really think he's nice?" She turned and looked at him across the clearing. "I asked him to stay here with the troupe while I go to visit Ally." Once again she hadn't actually said the word Salamandastron but she knew Taure knew what she meant and the significance behind it. What if she did meet the badger lord? Would it make a difference? She hoped Taure had some words of wisdom for her now. "He said he would see you all safely to Redwall. And I'll meet you there when I, er finish my visit."

Batou waved to Gemma, calling "Are you coming?" But then he saw she was talking to Taure. "Oh. Never mind. Come down here when you're done." Batou then tried the first of his stew. It tasted slightly better than it smelled. There really was a promising future for Taure as a chef. Batou just didn't know how she'd go about that, being blind and having this troupe relying on her.

Taure nodded in response to the Badgermaid's question and put a paw on her shoulder. Would you like me to come with you visit Ally? I'd be more than happy to accompany you if you want. All you have to do is tell me.

Gemma shook her head, for a moment forgetting that Taure couldn't see her, "No, I'll be alright. Besides somebody's gotta keep Florian in line. And make sure he doesn't embarrass me in front of Batou." She patted the vixen's shoulder lightly. "Thanks though. I better go and . . ." But what ever she was going to do exactly she didn't say she just started to walk across the camp to where Batou was waiting. "It's good, isn't it?" She indicated his bowl of stew.

Batou held up his already half-empty bowl. "Indeed! Well, now what? I mean, in the mean time, while we're finishing our stew?" As he said this, Batou ate another large portion of his stew.
