Rizhacka Fourspear, terror for the vermin underworld was playing. With dibbuns. Everyone gawked at him. Well, except for the small cluster of children around him. He was slightly taller than the young ones, so he had a role of a giant. He had his arms outstreatched, and taking big, exaggerated steps amung a gaggle of giggles. "I am the giant Raaaz. I shall squish you all into jelly!" the otter roared. He fell on a young squirrel and started tickling his sides. "Heehee...stopit mistah Raz....hahahha.stopit" The young babe was avenged by the others, who promptly pushed over the otter and piled on top of him. "Oh dear," Rizhacka tried to hold in his mirth, "I have been captured. Please spare me you villians." A young mouse girl waggled her finger at the otters revealed head. "Nono mista Rass. You git no mircy from us."

From the shadows a pair of orange eyes watched. The sound of sloshing liquid was heard everytime he shifted positions. The tunic on his was ripped and tattered but clean, an d his fur stuck out in all directions. Playing? He remembered doing tht before. No matter now. Taking a step forward to reveal himself he paused, that would scare the dibbuns. His friend had told him that was not allowed. This otter was supposedly a vermin slaughterer like Ringu, but what reason did he have to murder?
Insanity? Not likely. Slavery? Not scarred enough, and he was to trusting.
Bringing the gourd to his face the Otter downed half of its contents, savoring the pain reducing liquid,. It dulledh is mindd, and kept away the memories. Of course his medicine did that too, but he hid from that like a Dibbun hid from bathtime right before it was time to sleep. LEtting his arms rest at his sides, he gazed emotionlessly at the babes. Of course in his mind they slowly morphed to rats, and a growl formed in the back of his throat.

Rizhacka looked over and saw the fellow otter. He looked back at the babes. Sensing trouble, he started pushing the dibbuns off. "Okay you villians. If you let me up, I'll get you a treat after dinner. The young babes let him up and ran off to the abbey, yelling and frolicking as they went. The other abbey dwellers returned to their work, and Rizhacka dusted himself off. He looked back at the otter. He walked over and stood in front of Ringu. He was shorter then the gray warrior, but he was quite used to that. He looked at the orange eyes and the twisted face, the filed teath and claws, and smiled. This beast looked extremely fierce. Almost like himself. "Are you Ringu? You need to remind youself that the dibbuns are just that, not an enemy worth slaughtering. I am Rizhacka Fourspear, but I think you already knew that..."

The babes wandered off. Leaving Ringu alone with Rizhacka. Which was a good and bad thing depending on how you looked at it. Wiping one grubby gray paw across his face his cleaming, crazy, and intelligent eyes watched the other otter. "Dibbuns--I used to have a coupla those matey." Ringu said dejectedly, both of his eyes seemed to look through the otter and not at him. Not even acknowledging his fellow otter he nodded. Before lifting the gourd to his lips. "I would never harm a divbbun--less they were damned vermin bastards! Then I'd rip their innards--out--hehe." The otter said with a chuckle of glee, his eyes following the last little babe as it disappeared along a curve in the halway. "Never would I harm a dibbun sir Rizhacka. Never I Ringu--Ringu..well whatever me last name happens to be"

"Never should one kill a young one, Ringu. It's a horrible crime, accidents are devastating yes. But murder for little to no reason is plenty worse, my friend. Plenty worse..."Rizhacka's voice faded as his mind jumped to atrocities commited by his enimes in days long past. With a shake of his head, though, Rizhacka banished the memories like water. There were things at present that needed attending to. "Come, my friend. We have much to discuss, and I'll need you sober. Surely there is something that can get you normal again, Ringu."

" I will nae hurt little ones. Didn' we establish that Rizhacka sir?" The mad otter questioned, going off down the same hall as the dibbuns. Little vermin weren't tortuered, no he killed them before they had a chance to do anything wrong. Twas much more merciful that way. Turning his head as the otter spoke he grinned. "What makes ya think I am drunk? I am normal--hehehehe." Or as normal as he was likely to get for a long time. Lifting the gourd to his mouth again he drank from it. Licking his whiskers as he did so.

Rizhacka looked cynically at the other otter. "Indeed. Well, I hope this is sober enough to discuss with me what we had in mind." The golden otter led Ringu into a small, privat corridor, and into a smaller room with a table and two chairs. A wide window showed the orchard and the pond distant, with the sun shining on the pink stone walls. Rizhacka pulled out one of the chairs. "Sit, you'll be thankful for it I'll wager." and he moved over to stand over the other wooden chair, waiting for this mad beast to sit, so they could start their discussion."What did you want to talk about, Ringu?"

Ringu narrowed both of his eyes at the other otter. The aura of anger, and vengeance made most beasts in the abbey shy away. As was obvious as he slithered his way down the hallway. His tail scraping the floor at random intervals, and one hand was clanched against his chest, wrapped around the javelin. "Sober-- drunk..there is not a difference..either way tiis fun to kill vermin." He could talk about slaughter all day, whether he was 30,000 feet above or below sea, and stark raving drunk, along with half mad. Grinning at a ottermaid as she passed he waved halfheartedly, they were why he killed.
This otter didn't revel in the beauty of Redwwall. To him it was like a prison. They were told not to let him out by himself, especially when company was abut, and he wasn't allowed anything but what was necessary. Wood had been used as weighted arrows before, and he had built pitfalls in the very abbey! Sitting down in the chair, he averted both of his luminous eyes to the ceiling. "Sitting is sitting, if it pleases you, then it doesn't please me." This fellow was irking him already.
Heh ad called him. "Do you happen to know who opens the main gate tonight?" Escape. All he wanted was to escape. Under the table his paws were clenched as he tried his best to remain under control. Droplets of crimsson blood speckled the sandstone floor, only dying it a much darker pink. 'I'm tired-- of al this Naivety--and these stupid DAMNED GOODBEEASTS!" A snarl rested on his features as he finished the sentence, half raising out of his chair as he did so.

"Sit down." The words spoken weren't asked, but commanded. A different aura surrounded Rizhacka as he replied. "I can not tell you, I do not know myself, but don't raise your voice in anger to these goodbeasts. Most of them do not no the pleasure one gets from killing something that does not belong this side of the Hell Gates, yet that doesn't make them any less. Tensions are rising in the abbey, and friends from outside have informed me of gathering vermin. Without these beasts to hold me in check, I would be out there slaughtering as many villains as I could. Ending their reigns of terror before they even begin. I know how you feel Ringu, but hold your anger in check just a little longer."

RIngu glared down at the seated otter. His body now raised its full length above the table. "If I don't? Well? I don' like being ordered about like some slave." Without his medicine he was beyond hard to deal with, any request seemed like a order posed to him at rifsk of wwhip lash. Ringu liked to rip apart paws that held whips in their hands. That had been the first vermin he had ever went after, the Bosun of the ship. It was fun to watch him mutter something about impossiblities and punishments, before he broke his neck.
Ringu watched as the other tried to lecture him. That wasn't going to fly, like a bird with tattered wings that ideal would crash and burn. "I pity them! I am not angry at thei' stupidit' like I pity you. Do not raise your voice. Again." He would let it slide this time. Any more of this would be too hard for him to stand. Lifting the gourd to his mouth once again he took a long draught. The effect was spontanoues, the flames of anger seemed to leave his eyes, and was replaced by a look of dull annoyance. The anger was still there though.
Vermin coming to his prison, to try and take it over? "Vermin!? Hah. Like grain before the scythe they be matey." Then he cackled, long and hard. At the mention of slaughter and the otters permission to do so he felt as if he had found his new best friend. "Death..no pain.." Yet in his mind he saw a smiling face, it was homely and sweet, a pink dress was draped loosely on her. A baby was layig in her arms, and she was cooking something..not a soup of blood..no it was, Hotroot soup.

"You are not being ordered about like some slave. But I must tell you this right now. Do not say that you pity me, never say that. Do you hear me Ringu? Things are becoming more problematic, don't add to the troubles." Rizhacka half stood himself. He was a little saddened as well. Things were not going the way they should be. He should not have to yell at this compatriot. Both he and Rizhacka were of the same mind, and that gave him a small idea. Suppose he and Ringu went out for a little hunting...Yes, It could definitely work. Supposing that they could manage the side gate without being spotted. Rizhacka himself was getting restless, and he believed it was time to murder some vermin up to no good. Any would do, any at all. Just so long as they are plentiful and a good challenge. Maybe the Painted Ones, or the Juska. Either would do, but a bit more challenging foe would be even more accepted. After putting the final touches to the plan in his mind, the golden otter thought he had everything down. He looked towords the other beast. Mad though he would be, he would be a welcome companion on the hunt. Finally making up his mind, Rizhacka nodded to himself. "I have an idea, Ringu. Suppose we decide to go foraging out tonight after dinner, suppose all you need to hold you in check is me. Also, suppose we bring our weapons along in case of a vermin attack. And let's say we stumble into a tribal camp. It would only be expected for us to defend ourselves, maybe even to annihilating the camp, wouldn't it? What do you say? Even if that doesn't work, the side gate is little used and under guarded. Either way, there is a strong possibility of us going hunting tonight."

"Add to the troubles---But Rizza that tis when things becoming the most fun heh!!" The gray otter growled, more playfully then angrily. What fun was life if everything was hunky dory? There was no point to Ringu if everything was fine. Nothing to kill but phantoms of vermin, and no reason to want to hate the world anymore. So why couldn't he ensure that he would be around for some time to come. Besides the otter had started it. "Sounded like a order to me matey--but tha' transgression was yours." If he wanted to try and order him around again, well he had weapons, and it didn't seem like he did, to dangerous if you were playing with babes.
Hmm. A plan? "quite a long string of coincendences mate. Lets just add one mroe, I jsut happen to need soem supplies, and a extra bottle of grog, and a flask of me medicine." Now he was seated again, his tail waving back and forth behind the chair, still a little angered by the boldness of this otter. Thinking that he deserved his trust just because they looked alike. "What happene' to your family?" HAd they died? Did he ever have fuzzy happy memories of them that turned into blood covered night mares in the blink of an eye? Well his family was likely still alive, and he just found the thrill of the kill fun. "Like you'd be able to keep me in check...pup." Really nwo what guard would believe that? Well if he assumed the dull eyed look his medicine gace him , maybe quite a few. Holding up a hand for silence, he closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. Soon it seemed as if he had fallen asleep, at that point he opened his eyes, and allowed his tongue to loll out of his mouth. Lifting the half empty gourd his mouth, he downed the rest of the potent beverage, and peered at the other otter. "Unles' I acted like tha'." That would be sickening, but he could do it.

"My family still lives in the holt where I came from, thankfully. And you'd be surprised at what I could do, Ringu. Now, let's gather what we need so we can begin our little 'hunt'." Rizhacka walked to the door and held it open. "I'll gather the baskets and food as well as my spears. You gather what you think you'll need, and we can begin the 'foraging'." The otter left the chamber and walked through the hallways to his room.

So this was't a kindred beast, what was the worst he'd lost a few friends? And he thought he had a right to talk to him!? Bastard. "Probably--judging from ya looks not much." The gray furred otter replied, and with a twist of his lower body he was now standing slightly slouched, which was his normal standing posture it made it easier to move in battle. Not to mention it put his arms closer to his weapons. Smiling cheekily at his fellow otter he brushed past him, and turned down the hall, his eyes seeming to glow in the flickering candlelight, and if one looked closely they could see he was huckling, and rubbing his hands together. Upon reaching his room, which was really a section of the infirmary he grabbed a wicker basked, and began piling things ito it. Pieces of wood, a torn blanket, and then he threw in a couple of bottles. He refilled his gourd, corked the botle and laid the rest of it in the basket. Checking to make sure his javelins were there he flung the basket over his shoulder and stroled off towards the door. Looking as happy as a mousemaid picking flowers, and he was whistling to boot, he stepped outside into the cool spring air.
His eyes became fixd on Rizh and he made a beeline for the younger otter. Being careful not to break the bottles inside the basket, lest the smell of alchohol leaked through to the guards.
