It had been a wonderful week at Camp Willow, like a second honeymoon for Lalena and Catori the young otter couple who had just found out that they were expecting their first kitt. Everything seemed to be going well even though Laney was starting out her pregnancy not in the best of health. She had dealt with anorexia for most of her life and this had taken it's toll on her body. The otter fixer had not wanted her to try for a child until she had her own nutrition under control but things happen and now the unborn kitt was requiring more from the otterwife than she had ever had to consume to support herself. She was weak and tired easily so the journey that they had taken in two days to get to the otter Camp was taking them twice that long to get home. They had just reached the path that ran from north to south passed in front of Redwall Abbey. They would be back at their own holt in only half a day.
"Almost home," Laney smiled trying not to sound as tired as she felt. She knew Catori would want to stop again if he knew she was getting warn out but she didn't want to stop now that they were this close.

Catori walked alongside his wife happily as they traveled back from Camp Willow to their holt. He couldn't wait to deliver their exciting news to his parents. They were expecting their first Kitt. As he looked happily at his wife, he noticed that she looked pale and his expression immediately changed from happy to worried. Are you feeling alright, Love? You look pale. |

"I'm fine," but as soon as she said it she knew she wasn't. The smile fell from her face, her paw went to her stomach, and she nearly doubled over in pain. This wasn't like the hunger pain she had mistaken for something more sinister back at the camp. This was lower, sharper. "Catori!" she cried not having any other words to express her fear.

Catori was at her side in an instant. He picked her up in his strong arms and looked around frantically for a place they could go to for help. He sighted large red sandstone walls nearby and knew it had to be the famous Redwall Abbey he'd heard so much about. He walked down the path towards the walls as fast as he could. He stared up at the massive main gate amazedly for a moment before pounding on it frantically. Help! Somebeast help us please!! |

Lalena was glad for his strong arms when she felt so weak. "Catori, the kitt, what will we do?" She clung to him. The pain had receded somewhat but there was still a dull ache. She hated to think what that might mean. She had tried to do to much. They should have rested longer.
Lois was just taking a walk around the grounds when she heard the call from outside the gates she rushed over looking up to the wall guards. "It's a male otter, carryin' a female. Looks like she might be hurt." They called down to her. She didn't wait for any other word, knowing the urgency she heard in the voice, she lifted the large cross beam away and pushed the door open to admit the couple.

Catori nuzzled her cheek reassuringly. It'll be alright. He rushed inside the gates as soon as they were opened and went to the badger that had opened them. Please, Ma'am. Where is your infirmary? My wife needs help. There might be something wrong with the Kitt... |

This little female was having a kitt? She was hardly more than a kitt herself. Lois's heart when out to her. Unable to have young of her own she was of the opinion that pregnancy was a complete miracle. She was on the point of reaching out to carry the otterwife up to the infirmary herself but thought better of it when she saw the look on her husband's face. "Right this way." She led them across the grounds and into the abbey building.

Catori nodded gratefully and followed her quickly. He was really worried about Laney and didn't want anything to happen to her or the Kitt. A large, brown furred otter was wandering the walltops when he saw them cross the lawn. He could tell something was up so he followed them after closing the gate. He followed Lois at a steady pace and asked, What's going on, Marm? |

"Skipper, good, this couple is expecting but they appear to be having some sort of complications. I was just showing them up to the infirmary." Turning to the young husband she asks him, "What is your name, sir? Have you met our skipper?"

The otter nodded politely to the newcomer. My name's Catori. This is my wife, Laney. I don't believe I've met you before, although you do seem familiar... The otter nodded back politely. My name's Ronan RiverWolf I'm the Skipper of Otters here at the Abbey. I think I may have seen you somewhere before. You seem pretty familiar too. |

Lalena gave a small whimper of pain, "Should we have them send for the otter fixer?" she asked Catori weakly. But then she had a curious sensation. It didn't lessen the ache at all but it did make her forget about it for a moment. It was a little flutter like butterfly wings in the same general area from which the pain had emanated. She didn't need anyone to tell her what it was. "Tori," Her face lit up. "He's moving. I can feel it." Then the pain hit her again and she grimaced.
Lois watched the changing expressions on the young female's face. "Come, we've got to get her upstairs."

Catori rubbed his wife's stomach soothingly, hoping it would ease her pain as he continued to follow Lois to the infirmary. He smiled when she said she could feel their Kitt moving around. He hoped everything was going to be alright. He didn't want to lose either of them. |

Lois threw open the door of the infirmary in her agitation to get the young mother to the help she needed. The door banged hard against the wall behind it, drawing the attention of everybeast in the room and waking up a couple of patients who were resting. "I'm sorry," the badgermum apologized. "This young creature needs a healer's attention."
((do we have any healers anymore in the Abbey or are we going to have to NCP one?))

Catori followed the badger into the infirmary and layed his wife down on a free bed gently, trying to make her as comfortable as possible. He sat on the edge of the bed holding her paw reassuringly and stroking her head fur soothingly. [OOC: I'm not sure. Maybe we should just NPC one.] |
