Daniel Riverborn pulled his cloak up tight to counter the chill in the air. It wasn't necessarily unpleasant, as there was plenty of humidity in the air and there wasn't a cold breeze, but Daniel knew better than to travel through winter without keeping warm. He breathed out slowly, watching the mist seep out of his mouth into the cold air. He decided that lunch was at hand.
Daniel sat down on a log in a clearing of the woods and prepared a small fire. The otter then took out a pack of provisions he had stuffed before setting out. He pulled out a bowl, some spring water, hotroot, and dried shrimp. Shrimp and hotroot soup, Daniel's favorite! He poured the spring water into the bowl and sprinkled a little shrimp into it. Daniel then put some hotroot into the mix. He put some more. And more! Daniel liked spice.

Around half a mile north of Daniels location, Zephyr Swiftpaw sat on a hill that looked over the large expanse of Mossflower wood. His big, dull yellow eyes scanned the trees below him. he would have to enter the woods soon to seek shelter, as he sensed bad weather was on approach. The wolf tilted his massive white head to the sky and glared at the giant grey clouds that dominated it. he then glanced behind him and found that ominous black clouds were rolling in from the north. Zephyr could make out a dark haze suspending from the black clouds to the earth below them. If it wasn't cold enough for the rain to turn into snow, then he would have to endure a long night of freezing rain. Zephyr guessed that he had maby three hours before the storm hit, more than enough time for a quick lunch. He reached behind his back to picked up the old rations sack he had been carrying around for the last 10 seasons and emptied its contents onto the ground before him. Zephyr snarled as a few crumbs sprinkled into his lap. He had forgotten that he ate the remainder of his rations that morning for breakfast. As he stood up and began his trek into Mossflower woods Zephyr noticed a thin trail of smoke elevating from the trees not far from where he had been sitting. "A Camp fire" he thought out loud. "lets see if there are any good beasts willing to share some of thier food" his paw rested on the extravagant hilt of his huge black scimitar "for their sake, I hope they are!"

Daniel slurped some of his Shrimp and Hotroot soup. "Wheeww! That's HOT!" he yelled aloud. He then started slurping more. The otter slowed down, so as to enjoy the soup. He then looked up at the darkening clouds. "Hmmm, looks like poor weather's comin' in." he thought. Daniel hoped it was cold enough to freeze the rain to make snow: cold rain made for horrible situations. Daniel got a little closer to the fire and fed it some twigs.

Zephyr was making his way through the woods, searching for the source of the trail of smoke he had seen earlier on the hill. His ears straitened as he heard someone yell "Wheeww! That's HOT!" Zephyr's eyes scanned the forest around him. It sounded close, very close. he took a deep whiff of the air and smelled spices. Following his nose, Zephyr made his way closer to where the scent seemed to originate from

((Not bad at all. The only thing I would suggest is getting to bed earlier.))
Daniel began humming an old river otter song he loved. His humming began to soften as he looked back up at the sky. He was starting to become worried: if it did rain, he would have to find shelter, and fast. The otter knew the woods well enough to know that the nearest shelter was quite a distance away. The shelter he thought of was a small cave just beside a stream. It was just big enough to shelter a small number of beasts from harsh weather conditions.
But then again, it might not rain. Who knows? It may even snow.

Zephyr winded his way around the vast assortment of barren trees when he came to a wide clearing in the woods. In the middle of the clearing sat a lone figure who was tending a small camp fire, an otter by the looks of it. Zephyr stealthily pressed his back against a large Oak and cautiously scanned the area to make sure that the otter didn't have company. If it had been a few years ago, he would have simply killed the woodlander and taken the food, but his time in Mossflower had changed him and made him soft hearted. he decided to ask the woodlander if he would be willing to share some of his food first. Zephyr took a step from the tree in order to get a better view of the clearing, but in doing so he accidentally stepped on a fallen tree branch. It cracked in half with a loud snap. Zephyr quickly darted behind the Oak

In one lightning-quick movement, Daniel was up with both of his beautiful falcions drawn. he called out with boldness in his voice, "Who's there, eh? Come out!" Daniel hoped that whatever made the noise was friendly, not to say he wasn't up for a brawl. If there were a hostile creature around the trees, Daniel hoped it didn't have friends.

Aran was quietly prowling the woods, searching for shelter before the up coming storm. She paused and sniffed the air. She was picking up the scent of a otter, and a wolf as well. There was also smoke, and food. "I'm not really that hungry.." She said quietly. "But I might as well take a look." She began to head in the direction of the scent, silently running though the forest.

((Hoy Aran )) Zephyr growled softly in frustration, then stepped into the clearing's light and locked eye contact with the otter. "Relax riverdog, I'm just looking for a quick meal if you can spare it. I don't intend to harm you." The wolf's large yellow eyes narrowed sharply as the brave woodlander kept his duel falcions drawn. "Unless you give me a reason to"

((Hey!!)) Aran stopped as she heard the wolf's voice carry though the forest. She silently leaped up into a tree and moved from branch to branch, tree to tree. It wasn't long before she came upon the two, and remained hidden. Her eyes went from the wolf to the otter, occasionally blinking. Her eyes then rested on the otter's weapons, and she examined them closely from her hiding spot. They seemed to be well treated, and were probably razor sharp. If she got into a fight with him, she would have to remember to avoid them as much as possible.

Daniel didn't lower his weapons, but he called over to the wolf, "Yeah, I've got some grub. Tasty stuff. You ever 'ave shrimp and hotroot soup?" Daniel had never seen a wolf in his life. The creature was enormous! if they got into a scuffle, Daniel wasn't sure he could come out of it alive. The wolf also had a huge scimitar! However, Daniel didn't earn his Honorary general title from King MacPhurious for nothing... Daniel wasn't about to put his weapons up, for he knew better than to trust vermin... if one could call this huge beast vermin.

Zephyr stared at the Otter. Was he inviting him to the fire, or daring him to take the food? He couldn't tell.
"I can't say that I have, I would up for something new though. Now then, I will ask again, sheath your weapons. I don't plan on attacking you". Zephyr Started walking calmly toward the otter, his giant blade strapped across his back

Riverborn cautiously sheathed his weapons and sat back down by the fire. What else could he do but trust this canine? Daniel indicated a place to sit across from him by the fire. He dug through his pack for another bowl and scooped some of the delicious soup into it. He then held the bowl up for Zephyr to take.

She awoke from a voice that carried on through the woods and flew towards it a little grumpy but not that grumpy. She didn't know what to expect except vermin. As much as she hates vermin she couldn't just sit back and wait if someone gets hurt after that yell. "why this late at night did someone have to yell?" she sighed. She continued flying until she saw smoke and got a little panicy and flew faster to it to make sure no animal was hurt. "whether it's good or bad i dont' care if the fire spreads it's dangerous i don't want to fix animals with burns." She thought outloud to herself not knowing other creatures could potentially hear her.
