In a little house in the wood a mother weasel and her sons prepared to eat a meal together. She knew what they were thinking as she stood at the little stove cooking the bird the only way she knew how. Kolia never had been known for her cooking skills but now that she was raising to whelps she had to feed them somehow. She could feel Lightning's eyes on her back while she worked. Thunder was playing a game with some stones and singing to himself but Lightning. . . . She always told him how much he was like his father but in actuality he was more like her: conniving and vengeful. "Supper'll be ready soon. Why don't you put your stones away, Thunder and come to the table?" "Yes, Mumma," the whelp looked over at his brother. Lightning made a tailsign and pointed to their mother indicating that he wanted Thunder to interpret for him. Thunder didn't want to pass on the message because he knew it would make his mother unhappy but not telling would probably mean his brother would hit him later. "Mumma, Ting says he don't want pigeon again." Kolia kept her back to them, closed her eyes with frustration for a moment and then continued plating the food. "Well I'm sorry you feel that way, Lightning. This is what Mumma caught and this is what you're going to eat or you can go to bed without."

((Heehee.. Lightning reminds me of my brother when he was little...))
Through the treeshade the swift, dark figure dashed, nimbly dodging over clumps of greenery and sidestepping sapling that he threatened to crash into at every turn. There was the flash of a dagger in his paw when he did this--and just like that those small trees had new initials to show to passersby.
Sennveil Reavear was pretending to battle a small army, the soldiers being stood in for by the poor trees. For the moment he halted one could tell he was a weasel for the first time. Then he was off again, bounding atop a boulder, and from there, into a solid elm tree. With agileness and strength tempered by years of cruel conditioning, he hauled himself up in short order and paused to get his bearings.
As the keen, icy eyes of this strange weasel scanned the forest canopy he spotted something interesting: A small plume of blue smoke wafted up from the forest not far from him. He decided an investigation would be a superb way of figuring his direction and perhaps snagging himself a meal. Snickering quietly, he leapt from the tree and hit the ground running.
He only slowed down when the little run-down building appeared. Now he walked at a leisurely pace until he was almost touching the walls. He could hear voices inside. Crouching down, he put his ear to the wall and listened intently, a smug smirk plastered on his face.

Kolia frowned at the bird. Parts of it were burnt black and other parts were still bloody. How did friars and cooks do it? She sighed at least she was able to put something on the table for her children. And they would be grateful for it, d*** it. "Alright here it is?" She put the plates on the table. Lightning pulled on his brother's tunic and furiously made a tail sign. "He wanted the leg," Thunder said blandly as if he was used to this sort of thing. Kolia took both plates and switched them around.

From his position against the wall, Sennveil heard everything that was spoken. He most definitely smelled the aroma of cooked flesh, and he chuckled wickedly to himself as he considered how easy it would be to get it. From what he heard there were only some little ones and their mother in the house, but what species they were the black weasel didn't particularly care. Whatever they were he was sure he could deal with them.
Slinking silently around the old shack, he eventually found the door. It was closed, but not securely. Brazenly he rapped an annoying rhythm on the bleached oak planks with the knuckles of one paw.

Kolia jumped at the knock. She looked at the twins and then at the door. Without moving from the table she called towards the door, "Who's there?!" It could have been anybeast: woodlander, vermin, slaver. She picked up the knife she had used to carve the bird. It wasn't her preferred weapon. Her dagger was on a shelf next to the door. Slowly she inched her way around the table and towards the door. She ruffled Thunder's ears as she went by and smiled at him, trying to act like there was nothing wrong.
The twins spun around to face the door. They knew Mumma didn't like visitors of any kind and they knew better than to buy her act.

Sennveil smirked again upon hearing the tense voice from within the dwelling. Even the suggestion of being feared was a wonderful feeling to the black weasel. Leaning nonchalantly on the doorframe, he called back: "Just a figment of your lovely little mind, sweetheart. Are those your whelps in there with you?", he said insolently. He so wanted that meat, and without the fuss of knocking maids around, preferably.

Sweetheart? Well that changed everything. Nobeast called Kolia Sweetheart. She slammed the cooking knife down on the table crossed to the door in a few quick strides, grabbed her dagger and twirled it in her paw. She looked at the twins and smiled holding one finger up to her lips to warn them to be quiet. Then she turned towards the door and in the sweetest voice she could manage answered, "Why yes sir, just me and the dibbuns. We were just sittin' down to supper. You wouldn't like to come in and join us, would you?"
Both the twins grinned and Thunder clapped his paws together. They loved it when Mumma kicked tail.

Scratching his slight chin ponderously, the weasel, well, pondered. From the tone and brogue of the maid she sounded like either a hedgehog or a mouse or maybe a decent rat. But he really couldn't be sure. The smug grin returned. Easy prey! "Heheh, aye, I'd love to come in, and I'd especially like to meet your kiddies..."He chuckled, trying to keep the ego-fueled adrena line out of his voice. Just in case things went awry, he slid one paw over the hilt of one of his best daggers and gave the door a shove.

Lightning pulled out his little sling and placed three stones on the table. He thought for a moment about which stone he might want to use first. Once he had chosen, he loaded the sling and watched the door.
Kolia had a paw on the door latch so when she felt the intruder shove it she swung it open wide hoping to throw him off balance. following this only a fraction of a second later she raised her dagger. "Who are you callin' sweetheart?" she growled through her teeth.

Sennveil widened his ice-colored eyes and blinked in mild surprise. The maid was certainly no mouse or pinpiggy. He fiddled with the hilt of his dagger and gave the aggresive weaselmaid a rougish wink. "My, my. We got us a fiesty one, Senn!", he laughed, not caring if otherbeasts were around when he spoke to himself. He peered inside the little dwelling inquisitively and saw Lightning's loaded sling. He grinned, exposing sharp white fangs. "Tch, tch. Fiestiness passes down I see. Would you mind not threatening to skewer me, eh, love?" Again with the irritating, mocking tone. The former battleslave knew no bounds to his boldness.

Kolia was not about to back down. "I am not your love" Her voice was lo and threatening and she kept the dagger raised.
"Mumma is he our Daddy?" Thunder asked innocently. He had never seen a grown male weasel before and assumed since Mumma was always looking for one he must be it.
"No baby," she answered not taking her eyes off their guest. "Your Daddy had class." A touch of humor passed through her dark eyes and then she spoke to her other son. "Lightning why don't you show our guest what you can do with that little toy of yours."
The little whelp grinned, spun the sling and then sent his rock headed in a direct line towards the weasel's forehead.

Sennveil waited patiently for the little weaselbabe to fling the stone. It was then that he showed that he was no ordinary weasel: His paw was a dark blur as it whisked out and caught the pebble a few inches from connecting with his skull and possibly knocking him out. He held up the smooth rock and cocked his head in Lightning's direction. "Little fellow's got great aim. Too bad it never it me," he remarked almost casually. He grinned toothily at Kolia, "Did you teach him?"

"Of course I did. You see any other beast around here what would of done it?" She was proud of what her sons had learned so far and knew she could teach them more just as her father had taught her.
Lightning tugged on Thunder's tunic again and signed to him.
Thunder passed on the message. "Ting says do you wan 'im to try 'gen."
"No thanks baby. You did real good." Still she kept her eyes on the newcomer. "Why are you here?" she asked him.

Sennveil drooped his ears and put on his most innocent face. He clasped his bony paws together in a way that was supposed to look pleading, but was obviously a mockery. "Oh, dear, kind miss, all I wanted was a liddle spot of grub. Would her loveliness please let a poor rover inside to sample that bird yonder?" At the end of his exaggerated plea he grinned cheekily. It didn't much matter whether or not she let him in. He convinced himself that he'd get in somehow(he always had in the past, why stop now?), and get what he wanted. Perhaps some extra as well.

((is she not just the bitter widow from an old western? You'd almost think she had a shotgun trained on 'im.))
Kolia let her gaze travel for just a moment back to her boys. They were her first priority but they did have plenty to eat and this beast didn't have the feel of a slaver to him. She lowered the dagger slightly but still held it ready. "Alright," She gestured towards the table. "You eat and then you go." She crossed to the table and grabbed up the cooking knife. It felt better to have a blade in both paws.
