After Anna had sat down, Bane did the same, eyeing the soup yet thinking of the beast across the table. Though he ordered Pheasant soup, it primarily consisted of vegetables regardless. The weasel relaxed, leaning forward a little in his chair, feeling the afternoon breeze blow across the park in a gentle wave. Still caught up in thought, he spoke while looking about. "So, uh..."
He looked back at Anna as he failed to think of exactly what to say. There were many things to say, but still. He looked upon her with a sort of apologetic fascination, wondering if he could ever control himself and his thoughts on the road ahead. Well, he'd just have to wait and see.

Anna, smiling brought a spoonful of the soup up to her mouth. She wasn't really paying attention to the food, waiting to hear what Bane had to say. And then as soon as the spoon touched her tongue she dropped it back into the bowl. It was scalding. "I urnt i ung!" she cried fanning her open mouth with her paw. ((LOL))

((Lol ;D ))
"You alright?" Bane asked, leaning forward as if ready to leap to the weaselmaid's aid even if it was such a trivial thing as a mildly scalded tongue from hot soup. "That soup's gonna be hot." He said, smiling weakly at Anna. Then, he remembered something and searched about on his vest to find a canteen full of water. He retrieved this from its pouch and offered it to Anna. "Forgot about drinks, didn't I?" He said.

Anna grabbed the drink, gulped it down a little too fast and set to coughing. Then she laughed one paw covering her mouth the other passing back the canteen. "Yes, I'm alright. I guess I should pay a little more attention to what I'm eating." She pushed her bowl back a little bit on the table. "I think I'll wait till that cools down a bit before I try again."

Bane replaced the cap on the canteen and put it back in its proper pouch, answering only with a smirk and a blink of his eyes. After a second or so, he replied wryly, "Sounds like a plan." The weasel did not attempt to sample his soup either, wishing to spring up a conversation again before he ate. He started thus by looking about the park, his elbows on the table and the sun shining merrily in orange-golden rays down through the trees on his face. He looked back towards Anna, having a thought.
"So, um, how's Ashlyn? I know I just saw 'er an hour ago, but, uh..." He was intending to refer to the vixen's distant and macabre mood as they entered the city.

"Oh," For a second Anna had to remember who Ashlyn even was. She shook her head slightly to clear it. "I think she's fine. She was going to take a nap and - I think she may know somebeast here. Anna didn't presume to ask if Bane knew who the healer knew in this place. She preferred to let her friend have her privacy. Talking about the healer made her think of something else though. "How is your side doing? I really should check that bandage some time, make sure it's healing alright." She scooped up another bite of her soup and popped it into her mouth before remembering what happened the first time. It was hot but not scalding like before. "It's good."

"Oh." Bane said in answer to the first two statements. Seeing Anna eat a spoonful of soup, he decided to break off a piece the miniature bread loaf and dip it in his own soup. "Oh, It hasn't been troubling me too badly. Just when I'm really moving about." He replied, remembering the wound under the kevlar vest and the shirt he wore. "Should, uh, should still switch out the bandage, though." He said before eating the bread and enjoying the hot soup sponged inside it.

Anna nodded. She she had suggested the medical advice as a healer but when she imagined actually going through with the procedure a memory of seeing him shirtless made her blush. Trying to cover she reached out a paw and took a piece a piece of the bread as well. She tried the same thing she had seen him do: dipping the bread in the soup. "Mmmm."

Smiling a little at Anna's approval of the soup, the weasel ventured to use his plastic spoon to eat a piece of tender bird meat in his soup. After doing so, he looked back at Anna and said, "Yep, they always have good soup here. Gives 'em something to do, y'know?" He said, gesturing to the younger otter in the shop where they had just came from. "Kinda boxed in with the walls."

"I - I guess so." Anna looked again at the otters, and at the guitarist and the other beasts milling around the park. She hadn't thought about it before almost as if this were some tourist attraction for creatures like herself that were just passing through, but that wasn't the case at all. These poor creatures had been here, some of them since the disaster itself, living and working and dying with no option to get up and leave, captives in this place and time. Suddenly it didn't seem so magical anymore and Anna felt a pang of homesickness. "When will we be moving on from here?" She asked quietly looking back down into her soup and stirring it around with her spoon.

Bane detected this change in Anna's demeanor rather quicky, but he decided against making a big deal out of the question. He shifted his weight off of his elbows on the table and watched the weaselmaid's spoon stir the liquid about in the styrofoam cup. He answered cooly, though he knew that they might be stuck here for months, years...
"Soon as we can, Anna." he said, afterward looking back up into her eyes rather than her soup.

Hearing him say her name again she looked up into his eyes. She thought about what home meant about everyone there assuming that she was already dead and then she realized that this weasel in front of her was the creature that she really wanted to be with. Chris meant home to her. She smiled shyly, "Alright. As long as when we go, we go together."

Together.
That little word really did mean so much to Bane in such a short time. His life back in the states, and his family, couldn't seem to find the context to use that word anymore. Thus he doubly welcomed Anna in, and would certainly do everything in his power to protect her and get her out of this place alive. The soup forgotten a moment, he placed his paw on hers again in agreement with that hope. He smiled.
"Like we'd have it any other way, eh?"

Anna looked at his paw, feeling the warmth again of the contact. She rearranged her own paw slightly so that she could lace her claws with his and then she looked up into his eyes again and nodded. She stayed silently like that for a moment and then asked, "I-is there anything I can do or get ready to help? I mean I . . ." she sighed and smiled again. "I know it's not going to be an easy task, getting out and well I, I don't want you to have to do it on your own."

Vrelt felt a distinct nervous feeling now; there was going to be only one bed. He was sure of it. If it was the case, as he suspected, he would have to try much harder to "Take it slow."The ferret decided to add one more reason to visit their room, although it did sound lame in his ears, "And I need to bring my bag up there." Vrelt took a deep, steadying breath as well, getting himself together before placing his arm around Jane and started walking again, toward their accommodations, where Vrelt hoped there would be two beds, but another part of him was wishing there was only one.
