"You're right," Jane smiled and took a deep breath as if forcing herself measure time more slowly. Then impulsively she stood up on her tip-paws and gave him a sweet, friendly kiss on the cheek, "We'll take it slow." She took a moment to think about what they had been discussing before, "Now, I think everybeast else has already settled in and it would probably be rude if we didn't at least take a look . . ." She was curious to see what these beasts had prepared for the supposed long lost newlyweds. "Then we have a better idea of how to . . . make . . . arrangements for taking it slow." The ferretmaid was already trying to plan in her mind what they would do if there was only one bed, which was likely. She was nervous but she also didn't want to shatter the fantasy that the creatures here had created about she and Vrelt.
Anna smiled back at the otter glad that she seemed to have gotten the word right and then she was lost again in the flow of conversation looking back and forth between Bane and the food seller. And then his question was directed at her again and she had no idea what he had said. She smiled again apologetically and looked to Bane for help.

"He says they have phesant soup, vegetarian, and fish soup too, but that costs extra." Bane informed the weaselmaid, still holding her paw awkwardly yet fondly at the same time. The fish soup costed more because non-irradiated fish had to be imported to be safer for cunsumption. Behind the counter, the other otter was dicing up some vegetables for his own soup, and as they waited Bane added, "Oh, and there's also bread with each, so..." gazing into her eyes.

"Vegetarian would be fine," Anna answered and as she did so realized that she was gazing back at him. Even more than that, she realized that she had no desire to look away. Keeping this just a friendly outing was going to be harder than she thought.
((sorry so short))

((It's alright lol))
"Okay." He replied. After a second's pause, and a cough from the otter, Bane removed his gaze from Anna and said, "[Uhh, One Vegitarian soup and one pheasant, please.]"
The greying otter merely nodded and smiled a bit, then turned to the other otter, speaking rapidly in Ukranian to him. The younger otter spoke back in a sort of complaining yet friendly manner, working skillfully despite the absence of a claw on his left paw. Meanwhile, behind the weasels, one of the guitarists strummed a song, humming as well. It was a song that he played over and over again, and the locals practically knew each and every note as well as he did. It was a slow song, meandering from strumming into single notes being plucked and creating a blended melody for all to hear.

Anna feels herself blushing at the otter's cough and starts looking around the courtyard again. She listens to Bane placing their order and the two otters bantering with each other and then tries to think of something else to say. "How did you find this place? It's like a little oasis in the middle of . . . " She broke off not wanting to think about what was outside of the gates and then began again trying to sound cheerful. "I haven't had a hint of a migraine the whole time we've been here." She adjusted her glasses and looked up at Bane smiling. It was wonderful to have a reprieve from her headaches. They had plagued her off and on since she was a teenager but had seemed to come near nonstop since she had entered the zone.

As they waited for their order to be served, Bane looked about the place in rememberance. He sighed in a sort of contentment, the memories feeling very different as he held onto Anna's paw and hearing the guitar song he heard all those years before. "After I got sucked in by the Brain scorcher, and after the people at the fort took me back, I was led here for an hour a day. The doc said something about helping my mind be at peace, 'cause that's the only way to treat people who went through the scorcher. I was real lucky, I guess." He looked back to the weaselmaid as he finished his explanation, the guitar music still rolling in the silence. (( Click my name in the chatbox to hear the actual music. Suits it very well, I think.))

Her eyes widened in astonishment at the realization of what he had been through. Anna had helped to treat a few victims of the scorcher back in the sickbay. The torture they endured had horrified her. "Very lucky," she agreed raising her free paw to touch his temple. The gesture was more of cold medical curiosity than of tenderness. That is until the paw made contact and sent a wave of warmth coursing through her. "Very lucky," she repeated in a whisper, but this time she was speaking about her own feelings. She was very lucky indeed to have met Bane and she let her paw linger on his cheek.

Bane looked back into Anna's eyes as he heard her repeat the phrase, as if mystified by her gentle touch. But before he could say or do anything else, the otter behind the counter coughed again and said "[Hey, your soup's ready. Don't want it to get cold now, aye?]"
((Sorry it's short >.>))

Anna didn't have to know the language to know what the otter was saying. She dropped her paw from Bane's face with just the slightest hint of a caress and smiled shyly at him. "I think our soup is ready." She knew that she would have to let go with her other paw if they were to retrieve the bowls and eat but she resisted this for a moment unconsciously increasing her grip for a second before she let that paw drop also.

Bane said not a word, feeling her paw squeeze his own then leave it. For a second he walked back to the counter with her, his thoughts only filled with the rememberance of the weaselmaid's touch, but then he realized where he was and replied, "Uhm, oh... yeah." He said aloud, more to himself. He shrugged at the otter, handed over a few bills of the local currency, and took his soup which was in a styrofoam bowl. He also grabbed two plastic spoons out of a cup and offered one to Anna, wondering if they could keep this thing between them in control, at least long enough so that they can get out of the Zone in one piece.

Anna took the spoon from him with a barely audible, "thank you" and another smile. Then she looked at the otter as she picked up her own bowl nodding, 'thank you' since she didn't know the word for it in his language. She was amazed to find that the bowl felt warm in her paws. She had begun to think that she would never feel anything but the lack of Bane's paw in hers since she had let go of it. But the warmth and the wholesome smell reminded her that she was hungry. She was going to ask Bane something but when she looked back at him: would she ever get tired of looking at him? She had to blink to remind herself to speak, "Shall we find a place to sit?"

"Well, yeah. Not gonna stand and eat, right?" Bane replied, smiling as he took the small loaf of dark-colored bread from the counter as well. He then scooted back over to Anna's side and though he wasn't holding her paw anymore, he still had the feeling from it. The weasel seemed more at ease now as he spoke again, "Um, you can pick a spot if you like..."
The mouse guitarist by the fountain paused and thought of what else to play, watching the other beasts pass him by. He then started up a faster song, usually used in telling dibbuns the story of the quick bandit. He smirked quietly to himself at the rememberance of the story.

She had to tear her eyes away from him to look around (something she was loathed to do) and she picked the first table she saw. "How about over there?" She nodded toward the small table and two chairs that sat in the dappled shade of a tree she couldn't name. It was a bit out of the way but they could still enjoy the ambiance of the park.

"Oh, sure." The weasel said quite cheerfully. He took a step forward to the indicated spot, but kept pace with Anna. It seemed like every minute he spent with her, the more the Zone outside the stone walls melted away. Not to mention his mysterious exterior, a thing all adventurers put up around them to guard their true identities from the Russian military and other subsequent enforcement agencies in the area. With her, everything was more like home. As they reached the table, he set his bowl of soup down and pulled a chair out from the table for the weaselmaid, seeing as her paws were full at the moment.

Anna sat down in the offered chair. "Thank you." Chivalry? Definitely not something you saw much these days especially in the Zone. She noticed the change in him. He was gentler somehow. She wondered if that was due to her or just this place. The place certainly was having an effect on her but then so was Bane. She waited for him to take his own seat.
