Jayne looked down at the bowl, confused for a moment. At first she thought he was giving it to her for her to eat, but that didn't seem right. He had told her that Jimmy usually brought the Captain his meals so he couldn't possibly mean. . . . "This is for . . .?"

Lumpy glanced up again, "You was just asking where th' skipper takes 'is meals. Now you take it to 'im, you seemed eager t' do it a moment ago." The ferret wasn't sure why Jayne didn't grasp why he held out the bowl, maybe she wasn't as bright as he first took her for. "Jimmy can do it if you don't want to bring it up to 'im."

"No Sir," she pulled the bowl closer to her as if he meant to snatch it back and slopped a little of the steaming liquid onto her paws. She winced but tried not to let him see either the spill or the discomfort it caused her. "I'll go right away, Sir." As quickly as she could without spilling anymore she turned, left the galley and went to look for the captain's cabin.

As soon as Jayne had left the galley, Lumpy looked over to Drask, "Intrestin' girl, eh?" Drask smiled slightly, "Yes, but she has a reason to be that way, she was a slave until just last night." Lumpy nodded in agreement, "Aye, let's 'ope she doesn't have t' live that life again." Drask kept on scrubbing the dishes, "She'll do alright."
Jimmy came down the hallway slowly, looking a bit glum that he had to go back to the galley again, even if it was just to get the captain's meal. The young weasel was surprised to see Jayne bringing a bowl of stew from the galley doors, that was normally his job. "Lumpy's having you bring the captain some food? Or is that for you or some other beast?" Though Jimmy had only met her minutes ago, he felt at ease with her, and viewed her as a member of his extended family aboard the Venture.

Jayne nodded, "Yeah it's for the captain. He thought that since I was there anyway and I was done with my other stuff. . . "She wasn't sure why she felt the need to explain but she didn't want him to think she was taking his job on purpose. She did have one question thought, "Umm, could you point me in the direction of the Captain's cabin." She realized that she had no idea where it was.

Jimmy nodded, "Sure miss Jayne. Uh, follow me." He turned away from the ferretmaid, then started off down the hall at a brisk pace, keeping his eyes directed to the ground, he knew this ship like the back of his paw. Jimmy had been on it since he was nine, the stoat first mate, Mr. Hayes took care of him like his own son throughout those seven years.

She smiled slightly at being called 'Miss Jayne' but she remained silent as she followed the young weasel. She realized that she felt more comfortable around him than any other creature she had meet of all the crew and passengers. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he felt like more of an equal, or maybe it was his youth that had perked up some sort of protective instinct in her. Either way she thought he would be a good crew member to get to know.

After helping down in the galley for a while longer Drask made his way to the above decks. His stay at Akkladia had invoked several memories that he wished never occurred, the dark tortured look returned to his face, the truth that he had no friends or even somebeast to consider an ally to talk with haunted him for too long. Drask silently went through everyone aboard this ship, attempting to find if there were any to talk to at least. There was Walon Vau, but Drask knew that corsair hated him a little to much. Truglim and Barlow both he barely knew. There was Jane after that, but judging by the way she acted when he was helping in the galley, she would have rather jumped off the ship than talk to him. Then there was the Queen of Sampetra, Moll. Drask felt he knew her the best out of all the beasts aboard the Venture, and she was the only one aboard who he could openly talk to. He made up his mind; he was going to get Moll and speak with her for a while. Hopefully she would listen to him for a bit. Drask bit back his pride and marched on through the hallway. When he arrived at Moll's cabin he took a deep breath and knocked on the door. "Moll? Can I speak with you a moment?"
Jimmy heard the echo of Drask's voice through the hall and he stopped, trying to identify the beast speaking. It was one of those the captain brought aboard, whatever was going on was none of his business anyway, so the young weasel started walking again, they were nearly to Draygo's cabin now.

At the sound of the knock and her own name, Moll came awake and looked around. She was unsure where she was for a moment but the gentle rolling of the deck beneath her cleared that up right away. She rolled over and tried to sit up on the edge of the bed only remembering then the fall she had taken earlier and the bruise it had left. She also remembered what had woken her and she answered in a voice still slightly groggy with sleep. "Yes? Come on in."
Jayne tried to think of something to say to make conversation but just as she worked herself up to ask about life on the ship, Jimmy stopped in front of a door. She stared at it for a moment and then looked at him questioningly. "Is this it?" she asked with some trepidation.

Drask took in a deep breath before slowly opening the door to Moll's cabin, wondering just why he had come here in the first place. At first Moll had feared and hated him, but more recently it seemed that she had gotten over any fear she had, but he guessed Moll still hated or resented. Thoughts of simply turning away crossed his mind, but the general followed through on the mission he set forth to complete. Drask stepped in to the cabin and closed the door behind, he closed his eyes, and again he was forced to swallow down his pride. "Moll, can I speak with you for a while?"
Jimmy nodded in response, "Aye. It's the skipper's cabin. Do you want me to come in with you? Or should I go get back to the crow's nest?" The young weasel viewed Jayne as his superior aboard the ship, mainly because of the age difference.

Moll was sitting awkwardly on the edge of the bed trying not to wince at the pain of her bruised backside. When Drask entered and closed the door behind him it made her feel a bit penned in. It was these two things together that caused her to stand and begin to pace. She wondered what he could possibly want to talk to her about and she wondered what she would say in return. Then a phrase came back to her that she had once heard a Captain say to a member of his crew back when she was working in the Crow's Nest. She had always liked the sound of it, the authority it held and the corner of her mouth twitched at the idea that she actually had the opportunity to use it, "Permission to speak freely."
"Umm," Jayne thought for a moment looking back and forth between the weasel and the door. Part of her wanted to beg him to stay so she didn't have to go in alone but another more curious and independent part of her that was growing in strength every hour of her freedom yearned for the chance to speak to the Captain alone. "I'll be alright. You go on ahead." She smiled at Jimmy trying to appear more brave than she really felt and then she turned toward the door and knocked.

Drask's lips curved into a smile when Moll gave him that order, he found it strange that days ago she was just a simple barmaid and how she adapted into her new position, especially how she just said something to him that she would have never had the courage and power to say to him before. "I see you've been working on your commanding skills, Moll." But her newfound skills were not what he wanted to speak to her about, and quite frankly, Drask didn't know why he wanted to talk to her. Maybe because she was the only one who would listen to him. But about what? Many emotions had been kept secret, more recently because of the fondness of which Moll and Barlow spoke of her parents. Though Drask had virtually anything he wanted, much in his life seemed to be lacking. He would have liked to be able speak fondly of his father, but no. His father was famous, not for being a great fearless pirate, but as a cruel beast who led a very active social life. And with bitterness his thoughts went to his half-brother, Vrelt, who was the sad proof that the former ruler of Riftgard wasn't loyal at all to his first wife; Drask's mother. Several minutes past in silence while these bitter memories raked across Drask's mind. Then he spoke up, but his voice was low, almost weak sounding, and the tortured look returned again to his face. "Moll, I, uh, well. I need somebeast to talk to, one that would at least pretend to care a bit, and would listen to my personal problems."
Jimmy nodded, "I'll see you tonight at dinner then, Miss Jayne." The young weasel then turned quickly and moved off down the hallway, glad to be going back to be on deck with the rest of the crew. Draygo heard the knock on the door to his cabin, it was either Jimmy bringing in some of Lumpy's food, or it was Mr. Hayes coming to report on the ship's status and location. He was sitting behind a large heavy-looking desk, on which was spread maps and charts of the ocean and it's many islands. Then the captain raised his voice and spoke in his strange sounding accent, "Enter."
OOC: Drask is making a major break-through. lol

Moll shrugged and smiled a bit meekly when he mentioned her commanding skills. She was trying to sound official and hoped it didn't some out sounding rehearsed. She softened a bit when he tried to tell her the reason for his visit. She hadn't expected this from the great Drask Darkfang. "Well I did practically grow up working in a bar. I'm a pretty good listener. Maybe not as good as Barlow but then he always said that the patrons preferred telling me their sorrows than unloading to his ugly mug."
There it was again: he called her Miss Jayne. She looked back at him and smiled as he retreated down the hall way and they faced the door again and took a deep breath. Silently she opened the door and took a nervous step inside. Her head was bowed as if she were still a slave serving a master and she awaited her next instruction.

"I wouldn't call it 'sorrows.' More like a piece of rusty metal stuck in you, that you can't quite get out." Drask strode across the cabin and sat down on the side of the bed, he let out a sigh before continuing. "Do you know anything in particular about the Darkfang that was my father?" The stories told about the ruler of Riftguard prior to Vrelt were mostly false, some were the truth, but there were many things left out or added to those tales.
Draygo looked up, he was surprised to see Jayne enter instead of Jimmy or Hayes, why was she up in his cabin? He quickly realized why; she was holding a bowl of Lumpy's stew, she had taken over for Jimmy and brought him a meal. The captain stared at her for a moment then quickly looked back down at his maps, trying to cover over the fact that he had been staring at her. Draygo forced himself to speak up, why was it only in her presence that he felt like a fool? "Jayne. I see Lumpy has put you to work already."

"I may have heard something," but Moll scened his own disbelief of the circulating rumors and she quickly continued. "Although anything you learn from a drunk sailor must of course be taken with a grain of salt."
At first Jayne just nodded but then realizing that the captain couldn't hear her head rattle she quickly stuttered, "Y-yes, Sir. I did tell you I would work for my passage. I know this ain't a free ride. I know my place." She was still holding the bowl in her paws unsure of what she should do with it.
