Toriphess, corsair raider, wasn't happy. Why wasn't he happy you ask? I'll tell you why. First, his reputation isn't favorable. Who wants to be laughed at by other pirates, and become nothing more than a silly little rumor? Second,The Swiftraider was taking on water thanks to the storm of the night before. Third, a quarter of his crew had deserted him. Fourth, his sister was impossible to work with, locking herself in her cabin and refusing to speak to him. And lastly, he was looking at the point of a particularly wicked-looking arrow. This was just not his day.

Tori paced back and forth across the floor of her cabin, reaching the roudned wall of the bulwark, she turned back and started pacing again. Deciding that it was time for a swim, she unlocked her door and stomped up to the deck. Seeing the arrow leveled at her brother she smiled. "The savages round here are harmless Tori--we can beach here and make repairs--marvelous idea brother." With a snort the female otter turned and walked down the length of the ship. "Olfleg--let the idiot go--he learned his lsten." As if on cue the little fox in front of Toriphess dropped his bow and walked off to return to work. "I am still not talking to you." Then with a sharky smiley, and a wave she dove from the railing of the boat into the clear warm waters of the Moss. It was time to go and find the rest of the traitors who had abandoned them. Otherwise the Swiftraider would be beached, for good. Moving her short body in graceful fits and spasms the female otter quickly made her way down the river. Stopping one last time to wae to her brother. (by the way--she dressed half the crew up as savages to prove a point about that place being dangerous--promising them a keg, and immunity.) ((if that makes sense))

Toriphess snarled at Ofleg. Then at his sister, but it was lost on her. The big otter tried to review what happened only an hour hence. They were sailing along the Moss, a damn typhoon comes down on them, The ship gains holse from debris and some very sharp rocks, half-a-score of crew members abandon ship thereafter, Tori tries to kill them, Phessy says no, she says capture them back, he says no, Tori beats him up in front of his own crew, locks herself in her cabin yelling about her not speaking condition, a group of remaining crew members dressed as savages tie him up, and he gets a wicked arrow aimed between his eyes. "Oy, get over here and untie me, damn you!" None of the crew even looked at him. Where was Steelfur when he was needed? Tori probably had him go on some errand on land. Dammit!

A little rat tripped out of the cabin doorway, his shirt jingling with the various possessions contained inside. "Oh--umm....cut him down--she told me to tell ya that." Then with a nod of his head the overweighted, scrawny, beige furred rat known commonly as Bilge stumbled off towards the back of the ship. Stopping occasionally to scratch his short snout with a gangly brown claw, and turning his head and fixing those around him with a watery brown stare. Unlike Tori he opted for the rope tied to the side of the ship. Slowly and surely he let himself fall into the water, and began wading after his graceful mistress.
Various trinkets dropped into the water as he did so.
Tori paused at a fallen log and wandered off into the right side of the forest. Pausing to allow the scrambling rat time to catch up. WHile she waited her eyes swiveled back and forth across the forest, a smile crossing her face. They'd get the crew members back in no time, they did have their possessions after all.

Toriphess glared at his crew untill one of them, intimidated by what he would do if he got out some other way, slashed the rope with his knife. The otter captain stood and rubbed his rope burns. That really did hurt, a lot. He scowled, then decided to search for the crew members with his sister. The sooner they got him back, the sooner they'de be on speaking terms again. Toriphess ran the length of the deck and dove far out onto the river. He arrowed over to the shore, and he climbed out of the water and began to catch up with his sister. "Let's get this over with then, Tori."

It seemed as if the female otter had not heard her brother was following her, or really didn't care. Knowing the sassy co captain it was likely the second. In fact it seemed as if she was purposely trying to keep him back. Seeing as she stopped about ten steps after he emerged soaked from the water, and waited, then with a chuckle pulled back a branch to her left, ducked below it, and let it go. Hopefully that would show her idiotic brother who was the 'real' leader around here. All she had to do was cry a bit and lamsot half the entire crew had agreed to harass her brother.
Soon a soaked tan shape emerged from the water, a trail of silve,r and fishbone bracelets and earrings showing his path. Below fish began trying to eat the trinkets, or bumping them with their snouts. Soon the faithful little rat was trailing after his friend and boss, his wet shirt disposing of any semblance of secrecy. Seeing as its bulk smacked against his thin body as he trotted along, and a a blind fish could have tracked him, seeing as he not only dropped mud when he walked, but some more of the belongings crammed into his haversack/shirt.

Toriphess rubbed his nose where the branch smacked him. Why was it his bad luck to be stuck with an Ill-tempered Tori? Most of the crew belonged to her. In fact, if he remembered right, none of the deserters were ones on Tori's side. Which meant that the crew members what liked Tori wouldn't desert her, yet the ones who liked him would run given half the chance. That was kinda depressing if you thought about it too long. After reviewing almost everything that has hapened to him, he really thinks that he has an abundance of bad luck. The only bits of good were the facts that; a, he had a loyal first mate;b, Tori liked him enough to save him from slavery; and c, he was where he was now(namely, co-captain of the ship and still quite fit and healthy.) Toriphess walked after his sister, wary for more tricks like the one she pulled with the branch.

Phessy really had no reason to worry about his sister pulling such a immature trick twice. One hit to her pigheaded brother's ego was more then enough for a while. Besides they ad come out here to do something important, not bicker and throw barbed comments, whilst swinging large branches. Bilge now wlaked beside his mistress, jingling as he went. Yet all of the odd noises was lost to Tori. Who was mumbling testily to herself. "I really thought we taugh' them to hide better then that." The track cut by the missing crew was obvious, they had at least tried to sweep away the evidence of their passing. Of course such actions were idiotic after a heavy rain like the one a few days ago. The destris they had turned over was now facing upwards, the shiny wet side facing towards the sun. The moist path made it obvious where they had went, and where they had continued to go. "Really Phessy--these idjits aren' even worth our time."

Toriphess grumbled something incoherent before answering his sib. "Yes, but as you so touchingly pointed out to me not to long ago, we need to teach this rabble a lesson. 'If you desert us, you desert life'. I think that was the way you put it to me." The otter tapped his rudder against the ground to get her attention. "This way Tori. They seem to be heading to Redwall."

Tori paused, cockign her head to the left. "Wha' was that brother?" Of course before he had even hard her he had spurted off a key point. "Like we'd ever actually kill our loyal crew--it's like slavery if we do that." A shiver raged down her thin spine, at the word "slavery" , Bilge reached up and grabbed her hand his thin scrawny paws giving her blockier ones a squeeze. Ignoring her brother for a few seconds she slowly spoke again, a haunted tone in her voice: "I can see that--maybe it's time for that tour." Then she lauhged, but it was emopt, free of her cynical nature.

"What tour?" Toriphess was perplexed. His sister often didn't make any sense, now was a perfect example. "Let's go sib." He dismissed it anyway, who could understand it? The otter started off down the track's trail, and knew that his observation was correct. The tracks led right to Redwall. Brilliant Luck, NOT!

"Why the tour of Redwall of course. A poor pair of stranded otters like us needs some food. Besides they have plenty to go around." A prdatory grin creeped its way across her face as the word "plenty" rippled from her mouth. Most of that would be theirs by the time they were done. Pointing to her brother she nodded: "Look all scratched up, like you did when you were a slve. That shoul' earn us some pity points." Of course why wouldn't they let in a pair of otters, and a oddly small mouse-like rat.
"The crew will probably be in the woodlands around the abbey--chickens that they are." Of course ir was kind of hard for them to enter, seeing as Redwall didn't accept vermin and that was all they were.

"Tori, we don't exactly look innocent as we are. How do you plan on finding disguises huh? And anyway, we needn't enter the abbey. We are only on a crew roundup. Not a pillaging foray. You got that?" The grey otter had seen the gleam of greed in his smaller sib's eyes. She would pretty much allow the magpie nature of hers to get the better of her. Not good for a reputation which is lacking at the start.

"Oh you don't look innocent--I have plenty of extra clothes. As if on call Bilge strode up to her, and held out a daffodil dress. "I may hate skirts and such--but if I dress like a goody goody and smile a lot--those naive idiots willl let me in--and unless yo uwant to wear the bluebell one--well you can wait." Had he just told her she "need not" do something. Bad choice. "I will go into the abbey, and see if there is anything there worth pillaging, while you round up the crew." Frankly all she probably would get was a stomach ache, but she had always wanted to see the Abbey herself. Besides the crew would come back later--starving, tired, and such.
The Otter smiled up at her brother. The predatory gleam seeming to grow as she spoke, and her shark like grin soon joined it. "Why Brother what kind of evil villain do you take me for--a harmless country bumpkin like me stealing!? How very offensive!" It was hard to stop herself from laughing, soon she was walking ahead of him again. The only noise for a while being that which belonged in a forest. Her tail swathed through the undergrowth, keeping it out of her way.
Bilge kept being smacked by tree branches, and cattails, by the time he got to the abbey, he'd be a very brusied mouse, that was grey instead of a pretty butter yellow.

Toriphess snarled. His sister never listnened to him. He strode behind his sister and sulked. Its not like he blamed his sib, though. He did kidnap her in the intent of removing her from family. The only thing he did good for her was to make her co-captain, but judging by the way she acted; she was Captain and he a brute force method. It was so irritating! The silver otter corsair slipped his scythe from the loop in his back and twirled it. Silence brought through the forest, and Toriphess realized that his thought processes seperated him from his sister. He stopped, then the forest exploded into chaos around him.
