The fox scratched his head in contemplation. Finally he spoke: "I don't know how to say it, but I feel like I know you... but how?" The rust-colored fox walked in a circle around a small rock on the ground, trying to piece together why he had no feelings of animosity towards this beast, who had until recently been chucking sharp objects at him. "I'm Nilansh. These two are Baghavad and Yana. What do they call you?"
----------------------------------------------- The mutilated pine marten had reached the trees, another pine marten carrying an axpike right on her heels. With one careless step the axe-wielding vermin snapped a twig in half underfoot. Shardear was lightning fast; she whirled around and dug her claws into the bumbling creature's ear. "What're yew tryin' ter do, mudbrains?!?" She flung him hard against an elm tree and pressed her wickedly untended toeclaws on her minion's throat. "If the mongoose or those traitors heard that,"she whispered menacingly,"You're target practice. Unnerstand?"

The mongoose stood up and spoke. " I am Shatrunjay! Born from the Eastern Jungles! A snake slayer! I was taken from my home when i was young by slavers and taken to the far southern deserts as a fighting slave. I fought and won many battles. Including against savages, fellow slaves, and most of all. Snakes. Almost any creature you name. I had encountered it and was forced to fight it to the death. I was eventually gained my freedom and i was forced to survive the trials of the desert. Against it's wildlife and it's environment."

Nilansh the fox eyed Shatrunjay for a moment, then spoke: "Well, congratulations on the battle prowess and the survival and all that..." He flinched, hoping that hadn't come off sounding stupid. "Since you've told me your story I'll tell you mine; I was a lowly guard for a fighting slave ring like you mentioned. I watched these two, but... I ended up escaping with them. Out of pity." He added the last part fast, trying not to show any signs of weakness. "It's likely I've cleaned the blood you've spilled from your opponents." The stoats Baghavad and Yana looked at each other, not sure what to think yet again.
------------------------------------------------ Shardear slunk into some scraggly bushes. The trail was so fresh that the fox traitor's pawprints were still warm. The pine marten snarled and drew a large dagger and tested its edge in anticipation. As soon as the gathered beasts turned she and her creatures would charge.

Shatrunjay replied. "Escaped? Lucky you. And you managed to survive the deserts? If i tried it. I would have to rip through the hides of dozens of guards with anything i got my paws on or even with my claws and teeth. Few things that pestered me was the scorpions. Some are small and some are very large. Fearsome beasts. The temperature was also unkind. Turn burning hot by day and freezing cold by night. Any beast who had survived the deserts is a strong beast indeed."
The mongoose took a Look behind him. he had swore he had heard something near there. " I think we have more trouble...."

Nilansh, Baghavad, and Yana had been listening to Shatrunjay's words, nodding occasionally when they understood the dangers he spoke of. When the mongoose spoke the last piece the fox Nilansh scrambled to snatch up his javelin. The stoats looked confused, then took out their weapons: Yana had a fiercely sharpened wood maul and a dagger, and Baghavad possessed a falchion and a stilleto knife.
"It might be Shardear, our accursed former leader..." Nilansh informed Shatrunjay. "She still has some vermin on her side, if they survi--"
At that presice moment the whole of Shardear's band tore from the bushes, their spears, swords, and varoius chain weapons clanking wildly. Shardear bared her decayed fangs in a grisly smile as she lifted her red-dyed spear into the air.
"Chaaaaarge!!!"

The Mongoose noticed the same ugly mug of the female Pine Martin. He flung one of his sharpened dices at her and started to swing at his foes with his mace and chain. The weapons was capable of shattering rip cages and splatter skulls. Armor did not stop it either. The Heavy and powerful steel ball would dent them or break them easily. None of his allies could near him. Only take those who tried to take them down. The Mongoose had to fight whatever was in his way on his own. But with a mace and chain that could swing around blades and shields and kill enemies in one hit. It did not really matter much.

Shardear took a glancing blow to the head from the dice, drawing minimal blood but stunning her just the same. Yet another disadvantage to leading from the back; your enemies could target you if you stood off alone.
As for the remainder of Shardear's beasts; they were not as lucky. The weasel was struck down instantly and his spear was snapped like a twig. A fox tried to swing at Shatrunjay with his sword, but by the time he had reached the mongoose his blade was no longer attached to the hilt of his sword. He stood there, dumbfounded, until he was killed by a shattering blow from Yana's wood maul. The stoat was very lucky to be missed due to his maul having a long handle. The marten with the axpike choose to target Nilansh standing on the edge of the battle, catching him by surprise and driving the spearhead affixed to the axe into his footpaw. The fox yowled in pain but struck out with his javelin's butt anyways. The marten spat out a tooth and leaped on him savagely, trying to best him in a brawl rather than with weapons.
The battered pine marten Shardear stood up shakily, then regained herself and slapped Snurrlubb with the flat of her cutlass. "Yew idiot! Shoot that damned mongoose!!!" Snurrlubb turned away from his master's rancid breath and fit an arrow to his bowstring.

The Mongoose noticed Snurrlubb because of the Pine Martin's order and did something that seemed to happen not out of though. But as if it was a second reflex. He grabbed a random dead beast's spear and threw it at the bowbeast. Hoping to score a hit on the foebeast before he released his deadly shaft. A fired arrow is one of few things that are fast enough to hit as mongoose.

Snurrlubb aimed down the shaft and squealed when he saw an airborne spear instead of a mongoose. It took him through the skull, causing him to fall back on Shardear. The pine marten snarled and shoved the rat carcass away in disgust. Then she drew a dagger. She drew the old ferret close to her and wheedled him:"Whatd'ye say, eh? First one to score a hit on that beast is a richbeast!"
The ferret's eyes shone covetously, and he signaled the remaining vermin. Holding his piked halberd straight out, he led the charge at Shatrunjay.

Shatrunjay had never in his life given orders. But this time. It just happened to his unexpected surprise. "Rally to me!" He called out to the fox and stoats. He discarded his mace and chain for now, It's style of use was far to lethal to use with fellow beast around you. And drew the scimitar. A large blade shined in the sun's light for a moment. Than it struck like death in a second...

The stoats Yana and Baghavad were used to being given orders, and they jumped up to the front lines with the mongoose. Nilansh was a little slower, but he got there. Yana's maul, Baghavad's falchion, and Shatrunjay's scimitar posed a formidable barrier.
The old ferret had gain too much momentum to stop before he was cut down by the mongoose's blade. The other vermin fared no better against their former comrades: Baghavad beheaded the remaining marten with a swift swipe of his sword, and Nilansh drove his javelin into a weasel before landing a hefty kick on Shardear herself.
The mutilated pine marten was enraged, far too much to care about her own safety. The urge to endanger another's was too strong. She ducked low under a slash of Baghavad's falchion and brought up her dagger to stab Shatrunjay.

The mongoose was quick about the attempted stab. He launched a massive uppercut. The mongoose's fist power mainly by pure muscle and of course. Lightening reflexes. The pin martin might not stand much of a chance. This beast has did so much more than her when it came to fighting. Heck. He fought for his life on a daily bases.

Shardear laughed wickedly and pulled out of the stab at the last minute. Instead she ducked around Shatrunjay to his side. Then she lashed out with her spearbutt to knock him down and thus make him a lot easier to deal with.
The fox Nilansh cried out: "She's at your side, mate! Sword hilt! Sword hilt!" The fox hoped to the heavens the mongoose knew what he meant by 'sword hilt'.

He dodged with a short backward jump to avoid the spear butt. Than struck the Pine Mine in the head with the sword handle. Had there been more room. The Scimitar blade could have chopped through her collar bone and some of her ribs and even kill her. She was lucky. Very very lucky.

Shardear staggered backwards under the force of the blow, but she quickly recovered. She was used to being beat up, torn up, and cut up. Yelling wildly the pine marten charged low with her spear held straight, but in her other hand she held a pawful of sandy dirt. As she neared Shatrunjay she flung it hard at his face, trying to blind him.
