((Please PM me before posting in this thread. Thanks!))
Jake the Shrew was enjoying himself in a small glade way north in Mossflower Woods. He had no idea where he was, but there was a stream running south, and that's where he would go. He was singing a little song he frequently sang on his travels. His deep, powerful voice booming out over the trees as he lay in his logboat that he pulled ashore. He sat in his grounded logboat, with a strong, deep voice bellowing out in good song. Jake would eat some lunch that he foraged, then he would push his hand-made logboat into the water and set off downstream.

OOC: Hey Daniel, you might want to do a OOC and say to PM you before posting here. I'll message you about what might happen and stuff.
BIC:
Further along the river, another beast moved about. Under the barren limbs of trees, the ground sparkled with a fantastic display of white snow and ice. A hedgehog dusted snow off of a low branch and sat down, and became momentarily lost in the beauty of the white forest. In the cold winter day, the only sound was the flowing river as it fought against the freezing air persisting against freezing over. Ulbor Thickpaw took a moment to savor the restful atmosphere. Had he not purpose, he might take a nap in this beautiful place. He was not bothered by the cold as he was engrossed in the beautiful scene.
But alas! He had come to help. There were no doubt vermin in Mossflower and without question beasts unable to protect themselves. He continued to sit and contemplate, letting the sound of the river sooth his mind as it puzzled over his past and his future.

A little deeper inside Mossflower wood lay a figure. eyes shut, Its back to a great pine and using its large bushy tail as a pillow. Dannburl Sagara was savoring this moment of peace. Enjoying cold air, for winter was his favorite season. the squirrel listened to the wonderful sounds that nature provided him. The cold wind rustling the pine leaves of the top canopy, the Assortment of birds giving off the last of their morning songs, the sound of a distant, icy stream, and.......Singing? Dannburls eyes opened lazily as a resounding base voice cut across the placid atmosphere. Curious as to who the beast was, he reached for a low branch and heaved himself upright. "sounds like it's coming from the river. Who ever it is, he can sure sing, That he can" Dann thought out loud as he made himself twards the stream

"Oh! The Streams be bubblin' And the Birds be singin' Why how loverly! No better rest Than a grassy nest Under a great big tree!"
Jake finished his song after three rounds of it. He got out of his logboat and squatted by the fire he stared a while back. He would make some berry pasties and take a couple swigs of shrewbeer in his canteen, then he set off in his logboat.

((Your sig does look cool xp))
Leaning on the trunk of a sycamore, Dannburl watched with amusement as the jolly shrew made some kind of pastie, mouth watering at the sweet smell and debating in his mind whether or not he should ask the shrew for leftovers. The debate was over when dann's stomach made a deep rumbling noise, a sound that he was all to familiar with over his seasons of wandering. Stepping from behind the sycamore, Dannburl Advanced twards the shrew....and the deliciously smelling food!

((Thank you! But you're the one who made it.))
Jake saw the squirrel approaching him. He got up from the fire and called out to the capable-looking squirrel, "Hoi, there! Who are you, Mate?" He made over to the squirrel, holding his paw out to be shaken.

Dann had no choice but to surrender to the surprisingly strong grip of the shrew as he grasped his paw. "my name is Dannburl Sagara. You can call me Dann for short, That you can. What might yours be good sir?" Dann asked as his eyes unconsciously darted from the kind shrew to the food

Jake released Dannburl from his hold(unconscious of his powerful grip), "I'm Jake, matey! So, Dann, want some food? You look hungry! Have a seat by the fire." He indicated the fire and the logboat set up near it.

Happy that he was in good company, Dannburl accepted Jake's offer and followed him to the fire.
"So Mr. Jake what brings you to this neck of Mossflower eh?" Dann said between mouthfuls of a delicouse pastie. "Traveling alone in these parts can be quite dangerouse'

After making a pastie disappear very swiftly, Jake replied, "Is it? I haven't been this far north before. Are there vermin about?" Jake grabbed another pastie and swiftly dispatched it.

Dann layed his plate beside him and wiped a crumb off of his lip "That there are, not very long ago i was hired by a family at a town called Noonvale to escort a young Otter maid to Redwall Abby. we were ambushed by a small gang of vermin not far south of this location. they demanded our valuables or be slain. so naturally we ad to oblige. i didn't want to risk putting the young Otter into any more danger"

"Hm," Jake mulled, " I wouldn't mind gettin' into a little brawl myself. 'Twould be healthy competition , providing I'm not overwhelmed. Huh, been a while since I got in a scuffle." Jake leaned against the boat, the little shrew looking up at the squirrel. "I think I was planning to push my boat into this stream pretty soon. I'd best do it before dusk."

As time passed the once blue skies turned amber and purple signaling the arrival of dusk and a pale crescent moon was visible to the rapidly darkening east. Shadows caused by the camp fire and the dying sun seemed to dance in enjoyment at the quickly receding day. The once placid and beautiful Wood started to change into a darker, more gloomy glade. it was quiet, to quiet for comfort. and Dannburl couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. his dark eyes scanned the ground and canopy of the darkening wood. "Sir. Jake, i do believe we should head out now, that i most certainly do. I have an uneasy feeling about staying here any longer. do you mind if i tag along with you?"

"Of course not, Dann..." Jake's voice dropped considerably, "Listen, we've got to move, now. You're right, there are vermin out here. Over there, by those bushes, I know I saw vermin moving around to our right and left. I'm sure they're surrounding us. On my mark, kick out the fire, and then help me get this boat into the stream. They won't be able to follow us downstream. Ready?" But it was too late! A group of vermin - rats, stoats, and foxes - appeared and began surrounding the unfortunate pair. Jake muttered to Dannburl, "Forget putting out the fire - we'll use it as cover. Let's get in between my logboat and the fire. Ready?" Jake grabbed his bow and notched an arrow to it. He wasn't very accurate with it, as he was merely a novice, but he would at least fire off a few shafts.

"it it isn't very nice to sneak up on two travelers like that, what might we help you with?" Dann said, trying to buy more time to asses the situation. first Dannburl scanned the treetops. No archers, well thats one good thing. a total of 8 vermin, 3 with cutlasses, 2 sabers, a spear, and two battle axes. though i cant seem to make out their leader, they all look the same to me He then chanced a quick look behind him. And the stream to our backs, the current isn't strong enough for us to make an escape, guess we either surrender or fight. Then looked over at his new friend, fire burning amid his eyes. heh well i guess that answers my question, that it does. Turning back to the gang of vermin he awaited their answer ((im suposed to put thoughts in italics, but thats kind of hard to tell))
