Silas smiled as she laughed, about to open his mouth and agree by saying 'Seconded.' But he noticed something in the dark move towards them as Tamar put her face in his cloak. He patted her on the back once, knowing she could probably hear his heart beneath the cloak, pounding away as they remained in close proximity. Hearing more pawsteps up the stairs, a voice called out to him, "Hey mate. Havin' fun?"
Tom, the speaker, called out jokingly. Silas once again grew slightly red under the fur, glimpsing the short mouse out of the corner of his eye.

Tamar looked back startled in the direction the voice had come. Then she buried her face in Silas's cloak again as her little laugh bubbled out of her in a nervous fit of the giggles. "It's all over now," she whispered to him. "Tomorrow the whole Abbey will know that I'm in love with you." She immediately sobered. It was the first time either one of them had actually said the word love. She looked into his face and repeated the words, "I'm in love with you."

Silas smiled, allowing himself a chuckle as well. "Heh... it's uh, it's safe to say the same about me." He replied, looking back at the squirrelmaid's pretty features. Personally, he didn't care who knew of their rapidly-developing relationship anymore. It seemed so trivial compared to Tamar now. But even then, he knew they would be pestered a little by it...
"Well, affair or no, you're relieved o' sentry duty." Tom said, gesturing back to the main building with a paw. Silas nodded minutely at the mouse, then looked back down at Tamar. "Shall we?" He asked, indicating the wallstairs.

Tamar nodded, the smile returning to her face. "Maybe the fire's still going in Cavern Hole and we can get a little snack and talk. . . " Talking was not all she wanted to do but he could probably tell that from the twinkle in her hazel eyes. She took a step back and offered him her paw. She'd been up since early that morning when she'd helped to bake the bread for breakfast but for some reason at the idea of spending time with Silas, she wasn't tired at all. Well, not really tired, she thought as she tried to cover a yawn with her paw.

Silas, being a late-nighter, did not encounter this problem just yet. Grinning as Tamar stifled a yawn, he took the offered paw. "Snacks sound good." He replied. Seeing Tom's smug expression, the squirrel decided to lead Tamar back to the Abbey, for he did indeed previously catch the look Tamar gave him. He then started off down the steps, keeping with Tamar as much as possible whilst moving.

Once they were down in the grounds it was easier for the two squirrels to keep in step. Tamar was even able to rest her head against his shoulder as they walked. She gave another little laugh at something she was thinking and told him, "Mr. Hawkeye, your going to totally ruin my persona. Everybeast in this Abbey knows I swore I would never fall in love." She squeezed his paw gently. "So what do you have to say about that?" She stifled another yawn with her other paw. She had to admit she was getting tired now but she couldn't stand the thought of leaving his side. She thought if she kept talking, got a snack, etc. maybe she could stay awake a bit longer.

Silas' smile widened at this, replying after a little thought, "Well, first let me offer my sincerest apologies for doing so..." He kissed the paw he held, his tone half-joking yet still somehow sincere at the same time. "...And secondly, let me say that it was a good attempt to swear that off. Better than, uh, better than... my own..." he admitted with a slight air of sheepishness. There was certainly a story behind that one. As he said this, they came upon the main door.
OOC: A story indeed... And BTW, I hope I'm writing alright here... Dunno for sure.

((you're doing fine )) Tamar perked up a bit at this. She stopped walking and tried to turn him around to face her. "Your own, eh? Am I to believe that I am not the first squirrelmaid to steal your heart, Mr. Hawkeye?" She kept her tone light but she did have a jealous nature that had already come to light in her treatment of the newcomer Trill.

"Well, it wasn't exactly 'stolen' that time, more like misplaced." He explained, turning around to face her. "I'll tell ye about it when we're inside." He promised, not wanting to stand out in the cold. But, if that's where Tamar was, he would stay. Thus, it was a mere suggestion that he voiced aloud. Reaching out and opening the door, he gestured vaguely with a paw for them to enter.

Tamar nodded. She was intrigued by the story and wanted to hear more. She allowed him to lead her inside the building across Great Hall and down the 7 steps into Cavern Hole. As they walked across she thought about the kiss that he had given her that morning and the second one just a short time ago. She was a bit ashamed of being jealous. He couldn't possibly kiss her like that and be in love with some other creature, could he?

As they entered Cavern Hole, Silas led Tamar over to the fire, which was surprisingly still burning unattended at this late hour. "Alright..." he said, shrugging off his cloak and laying it down like a mat on the stone floor. Gesturing for the squirrelmaid to sit in front of the fire, he did likewise, fidgeting with his tail a little before beginning his story. "Now, about eleven or twelve years ago, when I was still living up north, I, uh, met this girl one day. 'Er name was Rebecca, lived down the street a ways from my house. That first time I talked to 'er, she seemed nice enough, and every so often after that, I'd pass by her place and say hello, chat a bit over the month or so we've known each other. Eventually I grew to like her..."
He paused here. "Er, not exacty 'love' her, though. Well, when the fall harvest feast came up, I risked asking her to go with me, and she went along with it. So we walked over t' the feast, danced a little..." He continues to fidget with his tailfur, remembering the time he stubbed the squirrelmaid's footpaw. "Then, uh, then this big feller comes along and just takes her away for the rest of the night. Turns out she faked all that just to get her Ex and 'erself back together..." He sighed, pausing for a moment in grim rememberance. "I was upset that day, as you can imagine..." The squirrel moved his gaze to the fire. "I never saw 'er again, and I swore to myself I'd never 'ave a crush on someone or fall in love or any o' that again, seein' as I was thirteen at the time. Took it like a slingstone to the head..." He explained, finishing his narrative. "And I kept that oath, up until now." He looked back at Tamar as he said the last sentence.

Tamar held back a giggle and tried to look suitably sorry for his experience. She just couldn't keep up the frown, though and she grinned at him. "You'll have to remind me to thank her if I ever see her, for keeping you off the market until we met." She leaned closer to him and laid her head on his shoulder. The fire felt good and warm. She just wanted to stay like that forever.
(blah sorry no muse)

((Happens to everone... Thought it was a good post.))
Silas wrapped an arm around Tamar's back, holding her in a one-arm hug. though the fire in front of them was warm, he felt all the warmer with Tamar's body pressed against his own. He smirked at her comment. "I will, though I'm not sure you were in jeopardy of being passed by at all." He offered her a compliment, shifting about a little to accquire a better position with her head on his shoulder.

Tamar snuggled closer to him (if that was possible). She yawned again and gave a tired chuckle. "You're not boring me, you know. This is just the most comfortable I've ever felt in my whole life. It's like . . ." She yawned again, her eyelids fluttering, "I'm finally complete." On the last word her eyes closed and she drifted off.

Silas gives a sigh of comfort at those last words, feelingalmost, if not exactly the same way. He looks back towards Tamar, and notices that she is asleep. He murmurs softly, whispering the name that now held so much meaning, so much emotion behind itself for the squirrel warrior.
"Tamar..."
He let her rest upon him for a little bit, his eyelids similarly beginning to fall, the combination of warmth and the presence of a particular squirrelmaid on his shoulder taking effect. Blinking to rid himself of this sleep, as comfortable as it might seem, Silas knew he would have to move sooner or later, least they both stay there until the morning comes. So he waited until the fire burned low, which wasn't long as it was already burning down to ashes. As he sat with Tamar, he thought back to that morning, then thinking of the future, one that he could share with her. He sighed again, watching the fire fade away, gripping her sleeping form tenderly.
Seeing that it was nearing one or two A.M, Silas decided that it was finally time to return to bed. Not wishing to wake up Tamar, he attempted to carry her to her room, not once moving away from the squirrelmaiden.
