Choy continued speaking, feeling very relaxed around the queen and the rest at the moment, ((Remember how much he talked in King Kong?)) "You like ship? Skipper keep it sailing smoothly nowadays."
Jimmy smiled very slightly for a fraction of a second at Jayne, before he quickly looked away, feeling a little bit uncomfortable with the current situation they were in now. He glanced over to Lumpy, and saw the old ferret was engaged in deep conversation with one of the two ferrets who just entered the galley.

The Skipper Jayne repeated in her mind. He means the Captain And her thoughts returned to her rescuer, the ferret who had given her her freedom. She appeared to look more intently into her now empty bowl but she was all ears straining to learn anything she could about the beast who held sway over the ship. She wondered when she would see him again and she wondered if he ever came down to the galley during mealtimes. She would have asked that very thing but she didn't want to draw attention to herself again and she didn't want to seem too interested.
"It's a fine vessel," Moll took a bite of her food, smiled appreciatively to Lumpy, and then continued after swallowing. "You know I had actually never been on a ship before a week ago. They tell me the sea is in my blood though. My father . . ." She began proudly and then backed down sheepishly, "But then of course you know my father was quite the seaman."

Choy nodded quickly, "Your father mighty pirate. He very famous here. But Skipper good too, he capture any crim'nal you want. He get big money for it." He was very proud of the achievements of his captain, in his mind, Englehorn was every bit as great as Rawnwave was.
Drask spoke up, "Ever heard of the Darkfangs?" Choy nodded again, "Yes, yes. Darkfangs pirates too. They pretty good at it like Rawnwave." Drask didn't say that he was one of the Darkfangs, though most of the crew had made that assumption already. He wondered what the rest of the crew thought of their passengers.
Jimmy listened to everything that was said between the three other beasts, while looking inconspicuous by simply eating his stew and not looking up.

Englehorn Jayne rolled the name around in her brain. She had heard it mentioned before. It was foreign like his accent but she liked the sound of it. Not that she would ever be brave enough to call him by his name, nor was it her place to do so. And then for some reason she thought of when he had said her name. An involuntary sigh escaped her and she glanced around quickly to see if anybeast had noticed but they all seemed to only have eyes for Moll. She was alone in her little fantasy but she needed to be more careful if she wanted to keep it that way. That's all it was after all: a fantasy. There was no way that she and the Captain could ever . . .
Moll chuckled and looked over at Drask, "Pretty good," she repeated teasingly.

Walon had ignored all going on around him. At the beginning, he had simply sat in an empty seat and consumed his meal in peace. Shaking his head slightly, He took another bite. The cooking reminded him of his mother's. It had been so long since he had had a good meal. The cook on his ship was terrible.

Drask smiled, "Well, you have to account for the actions of my brother, which take away a lot of the Darkfang reputation." He easily referred to his younger brother without the anger or resentment like he normally did. The discussion with Moll was apparently of great help to the ferret. Drask elbowed Lumpy and whispered something to him, the old ferret nodded in response, then he stood and raised his wooden mug, calling out in a loud voice. "Listen up, mates. Meself and Drask 'ere would like t' honor Queen Rawnwave with eh toast." Drask stood up as well, followed by the rest of the crew, who wholehearted cried out in unison, "To Rawnwave!" Then they took a swig of their ale and returned to their seats. Drask and Lumpy sat down last. A lighthearted atmosphere prevailed in the galley, and the crew resumed their meals with conviction, now all of them were talking and laughing. Enjoying the time off from work aboard the Venture. Drask looked over at Moll, smiling slightly, before whispering to her. "Thank you."

Moll was slightly embarrassed by the praise. She had spent her whole life hearing stories about her father and yet never really feeling all that connected to him. Now she was receiving acclaim for that connection. She looked down humbly and whispered back to Drask, "I really haven't done anything to deserve it."

Drask continued to whisper to her, he hoped his voice was not overheard by Walon or any of the others in the galley. "Yes you have. Before I talked with you, I felt consumed with only one goal in mind; to kill my half-brother. That need for revenge was the only thing that kept me going for a long time. You opened my eyes by giving me a chance to speak freely, and I realized my mistake." He stopped there, glancing around at the crew who were busy eating, then he spoke again, "I'll talk to you about it later, whenever you feel up to that sword training I promised." Drask started back to eating the stew Lumpy cooked, which was one of the few things that the old ferret cooked on the Venture; supplies limited what he could prepare.

When he said that Moll realized that her backside wasn't nearly as sore as it was before and that she would like to get back to that training as soon as she could. She nodded with a smile and returned to eating. She wondered if she would ever live up to her father's legacy. Everybeast seemed so sure that she would. She wished she was as certain as they were. And now she began to wonder what had become of Barlow and Truglim. Those two knew more about her father than anybeast and she felt more comfortable in their presence than with anybeast else.

Truglim had smelt the stew already ready, but the stoat had chosen to remain for a time in his cabin, still pondering over what the old weasel said back when they first arrived on Akkladia. He planned on coming to eat a bit later, but right now he needed to be by himself. Truglim had not expected Englehorn's ship to be so, he couldn't find the words to describe it properly. It was far from what he had thought it would be like, but the appearance of this ship was the least of his concerns.
Choy glanced around at the other crewbeasts at the long table before beginning to speak with Moll again. "Venture sail all over the place, we always get to destination fast. More fast than fancy ships." Jimmy agreed with him and voiced his opinion as well, "Yeah, The Venture isn't the newest or best ship sailing, but she's reliable and pretty fast."

Moll perked up again at Choy's mention of their destination. "Yes of course," she interrupted him not having really been listening to his speech about the ship. "talking of which, I need to speak to the Captain about our destination. There has been a change in plans. We will not be sailing to Sampetra as we had originally discussed."
Jayne looked up at the queen when she said this. She was to be let off a Sampetra, a free creature. She wondered what this meant for her own future.

Lumpy looked crossly over at Moll, "Since when, eh?" The old cook was looking forward to arriving at Sampetra, any change in destinations would not be what he had initially wanted. He was viewed as a senior officer aboard the Venture, and he opinions and input were often considered by the captain and the first mate, Mr. Hayes.
Jimmy looked over quizzically at Moll, he too was wondering why the original plans were under review or being changed. All the crew knew that Englehorn would have something to say about that.

Moll hadn't expected the hostile reaction to her statement. This threw a shadow of doubt over her confidence. "I - I just realized that there was something I need to take care of before - before I go home." She specifically said 'I' so that the blame could not be laid on anybeast else. She thought that the news would come off better that way. Being that they had just been praising her not a moment before. She glanced quickly at Drask, giving him a slight shrug. Then she turned back to Lumpy and attempted to explain herself, "It shouldn't be a long detour and then we'll be back on the way to Sampetra. Hopefully with more help on our side."

"Here now, back off her. She has her reasons for doing what she does. Just trust her that they are for your own good." said Walon, still sitting and eating his meal. "You'll get where your going, and some extra money to boot." Walon had used the key to any vermin sailor, money.

The old ferret turned his one half-closed eye to Walon, and spoke crossly to him as well. "Yeh rich beasts think yeh can buy me off, eh? It ain't that simple, mate." Lumpy wouldn't be bought off like most vermin would, which shouldn't have been much of a surprise to them, considering the crew of the Venture was completely different from any other crew sailing the seas. Most of the crew looked expectantly to Lumpy, they were eager to see the outcome of this dispute. They were all sure, however, that Captain Englehorn would have the last words.
Drask joined his voice in support of Walon's, "Aye. We'll get all this sorted out properly with Captain Englehorn before the day is out. An' be sure it'll be best for all of you, one way or the other. Just trust the judgment of Queen Rawnwave and your captain." He looked over to Walon to see if he had anything further to add in Moll's defense.
