Drask followed them through the tall grass, his paw resting on his saber, ready for another ambush from the savages from that underground fortress. A chill went up his spine as he crept throw the grass, terrain like this was perfect for an ambush. Drask thought about the pure ferret in front of him, her name Callista was a name he had never heard before in all his travels. Something about it seemed to stay in his mind as the three kept moving through the tall grass.

“Get down!” Raker Whispered as he suddenly ducked much lower than usually. Callista also lowered herself almost to the ground. “There’s a bowbeast in that tree up there.” Nothing was scarier than this. A bowbeast in a tree means that even if you lower yourself and stand still. There is still a chance he might see you. Especially if the tall grass moved...
Callista limbs were shaking. It was getting colder and her shaking was proving it. She had also been left out in the rain too. “I might have to take the shot.” Raker whispered.

Drask shoved thought about the pure ferret out of his head and crouched lower to the ground. If the archer up there had spotted them, they were dead. "Take the shot." Drask whispered to Raker. Maybe Raker was a good archer, maybe not, but if he hit they had a good chance of escape. But if he missed, they wouldn't live very long.

Raker nodded. He started to stand very slowly and pull the bowsting back. Taking careful aim. He fired a shot. The Bowbeast had spotted them. But he had no time to scream as the arrow struck him between the eyes. Causing him to fall from the tree and hit the ground with a sickening sounded of snapping bones. As they as quietly as possible wondered over to the body. They saw how good a shot it was. The three foot long arrow bow was sticking out of the front and back of his head and the fall had broken his back and numerous other bones. Raker smiled at Drask “Bullseye. No one shoots as true as a bowcat.”
Callista was far too busy taking whatever the bowbeast had. His small bow and his dagger.

After inspecting the body, Drask smile slightly at Raker, "Good shot." Drask knew these bowcats were good, but he was an excellent shot himself. At least as good as a bowcat. Taking a long measured stare at the dead archer Drask inspected him for any weapons besides the dagger and bow. Nothing. "Let's keep moving."

Raker nodded and he and the princess moved on. Eventually. They were finally out of the mess. They were far enough away to declare themselves safe for now. Though when Drask and Callista were not paying attention. He had gone. Leaving the long bow and arrows behind. “Where did that cat go? He just disappeared!” Callista said as she attempted to look for prints or any evidence of where he might have left off too. But not a single clue could be spotted…

Drask shouldered the longbow, and began an inspection of nearby foliage, looking for any snapped twigs of branches. There was nothing. Not even a stray strand of fur. For a moment Drask wondered if Raker was a real person, maybe just a figment of his imagination. But he knew he bit the ropes off him, and Callista saw him also. Raker was out there. But Drask had not a clue where he went. "He just disappeared. Maybe what they say about those bowcats is true."

Callista looked at him. “It is true. And they obviously had dealt with those underground killers before. Bowcats are a powerful tribe of creatures. Ones who despite constant fighting and war. Refuse to roll over and die. Refuse to become extinct. Despite the numbers those horrible beasts had pitted against them..” The ferret looked around and spoke again. “I guess all that’s left is to look for your troops. If they are alive that is.”
(Too make a long battle story short. Xiuhcoatl’s savages fled when the Mong Com. (Yeah that might be their name from now on. XD ) Interfered with the battle.)

Drask looked determined, "They're alive. I know they are. Not even that horde could have stopped them. And if the Scorpion failed, they were to meet back at base. Or along the coast." The ferret stopped talking and continued to scan the area around the two of them, for any sign of enemies. Drask had full confidence in his soldiers, they were the finest army ever to walk Mossflower, in Drask's opinion.

“Well let us not stand here and wait for them here if they will meet us at this “base” or along the coast! Lets go there! NOW! Those things that call themselves beasts might have finally found out we escaped and might be out looking for us now! Lets go! You lead the way! I’ll follow right behind you.” Callista was not going to stagger off on her own. Never would she try it here. Not with those creatures about! She would rather stay with Drask. It would be a more wiser and safer choice on her behalf. Better with a “acquaintance” than by herself.

Drask decided against a comeback after Callista started telling him what to do. If he wasn't on a mission for Sampetra, he would have taken his sweet time making comebacks and insults to Callista. He was wishing for a vacation right now. Without orders. Without running through Mossflower. Yeah that would be the life. He gestured forward, "Oh I'm not that stupid. You're not gonna walk behind me."

Callista’s reply was simple and calm. “Fine. But when one of those bastards sneak up on you and throws a spear or something. It’ll hit you first. Not me.” That was true and while he took the hit. It was likely she would not stay to save him or help him. More likely leave him to die or be dragged back into those holes. Or maybe worse. They might gut him alive from behind or even worse. If there was anything worse than that. Any beast with a brain would not help that ferret if he took a spear or got jumped again from behind. Survival of the fastest.

Drask also replied calmly, "Go ahead, be my guest. I'm not afraid of death. It's part of life, even if it's caused by scum. A soldier doesn't show fear in front of the enemy. Nor does he show weakness, no matter what he feels, pain or other things. No emotion is allowed. Only battle prowess and cleverness." Drask grimaced inwardly, 'Great, I'm quoting random military sayings'. He continued, "I might show no gratitude at all, but you could at least show a bit of respect. I could have left you in that hole to die."

Callista could not help but to give this ferret a few kind words. “True. Could have. If Raker would have allowed it, but I’m very glad you didn’t. Trust me. I am.” The Pure Ferret smiled at him. “You should not really be a general. Even though your not completely a Pure Ferret. You should be over whoever commands you. Commanding them instead.” She looked over her shoulder in a paranoid manner to make sure none of those beasts were near. “How about this. We walk side by side. We’ll watch our sides and our backs from time to time but no one is in front of the other.”

Drask allowed himself a slight smile, "I'm not the kind for all that responsibility. I prefer leading my men and not others more ambitious than me. If I was someone that high up I'd probably kill myself after having to deal with all the stuff leaders do." He nodded, "Alright, we can cover each others backs. At least we'll have a fighting chance if we're ambushed."
