Drask swept up the rest of the glass, but he remembered that he didn't even have a dustpan in his apartment. Simply because he was rarely ever here, and he didn't keep it well-stocked. He was glad Penny didn't attempt to make eye contact with him. Drask guessed that she was looking for a trashcan, this time he knew he had one, he pointed at the cabinet under the sink, "There's a trashcan under that."

"Oh thank you," Penny bent down to open the cabinet, deposited the glass, and then stood back up to wash her paws. The water started out cold and then gradually warmed. She drew in her breath at the slight stinging pain as the water ran over the cut but soon the water ran clear. She shut off the flow and made a guess at which drawer might contain a dishtowel to dry her paws. She was right on the first try. "I'm sorry," she said again as she patted them dry. "I can finish up here if you want me to so you can go get some sleep."

"No. We both need to get some sleep, I can clean this up in the morning." Drask he looked down at the rest of the glass, it could wait, his flight left at eleven in the morning, plenty of time to pack, and clean up the mess. He glanced back at the clock on his microwave, it was only nine thirty, not too late, but still he felt strangely tired after this seemingly short day.

"Umm, okay." Penny hung the towel on the fridge handle and walked back into the livingroom area. "Thanks for umm, well, I mean I really didn't mean to make any more work for you. Tell you what: breakfast will be my treat tomorrow morning." She wanted to do something in return for his letting her stay and driving her around.

"Yeah that sounds about even." Drask smiled slightly as he turned away from Penny and started walking to his room. But before he went into the bedroom he said one more thing, "Night Penny." With those two words he disappeared from Penny's view and into his room. Drask laid down on his bed again, pondering over the events that happened so fast in that day. From the return to Seattle, to the call from Jeff Meldrum, and of course the involvement of Penny that seemed to be the most surprising of all that occurred that day. It wasn't that she had came to his apartment alone with him, but the fact that she was going to Alaska along with him. That spur of the moment decision Penny made to come seemed to be his fault in the first place, he was the one who answered the phone call from Penny's mom, that was why she was coming. But it wasn't all that bad. He forced his mind away from that subject and focussed on getting some rest. Drask's last thoughts before falling asleep was of Penny and Vern at the superbowl party.

"Night." Penny returned softly as he left the room. She switched off the light before she laid down on the couch again. There was plenty of light coming in through the crack in the curtains for her to see her way. She still wasn't terribly tired even though she knew she should sleep. She looked over again at the desk where the pictures were placed. The light from the window was just falling on her own face. . . . and then the next thing she knew, the light coming in the window was from the sun and it was morning. She stretched and tried to remember where she was and why.

Drask woke up just seconds after Penny did, but he didn't stretch like she did, he blinked sleep from his eyes and looked around his room, attempting to figure where he was. He thought for a moment he was waking up in a tent in the Congo, but last night's events suddenly came flooding back to him, and he shot of bed quickly, what time was it now? The time zone shift had thrown around his sleeping schedule again, that was something he would never get used to. He glanced at the alarm clock sitting on the bedside table, it was nine forty. That meant nearly two hours till the flight left, he slept in too late for his liking, traffic was congested in the morning, well pretty much all the time. Drask noted that the sun was shining this morning, something that didn't happen all the time. After throwing on some clothes, he quietly made his way through the short hallway. At the end he stopped and glanced around the living, he couldn't tell if Penny was still asleep, he felt like he wasn't fully awake yet and apparently that was affecting his vision.

Penny heard the sound of footsteps and looked over to see Drask. She was startled by his appearance and jumped up, swearing under her breath and running her paws over her p.j.s as if to make sure she were decent. Then she glanced around the room the events of the night before only now beginning to come back to her. She noticed the clock on the V.C.R. She looked back at him and smiled ashamedly, "I guess we overslept. I'll just change and then we can go whenever you're ready." She picked up her bag and headed in the direction of the bathroom she had used last night. She hoped it wouldn't take long to exchange her ticket. If there was one thing clear in her mind it was that she was still sure she was going to Alaska.

Drask nodded, "Yeah, okay." He went into the kitchen and picked up the phone, making sure that a taxi would be here to pick them up, on time. Most of the morning grogginess had left by that time and after calling he went back to his room. Then he realized his wasn't even packed, so he dumped out the stuff in his suitcase and reloaded it with some clothes better made for a slightly colder area than the Congo. Drask gathered up a few other things he needed for this little excursion, and soon after closed back his suitcase, now he was a bit better equipped. He took his stuff into the living room, now all he had to do was wait on Penny, and of course the taxi. Hopefully it would arrive on time. If not they would more than likely miss their flight out of Seattle. He still didn't believe it was a good idea for Penny to come with him, but she apparently had set her mind on coming with, and it seemed nothing was going to change that.

Penny rummaged through her bag and put on the warmest thing she had. She was glad that she had thought to bring a sweater since she always got a little chilly on the plane. It probably wouldn't suffice once they landed in Alaska but she was hoping there might be a duty-free shop in the airport there so she could grab a couple of things before they really had to tackle any weather. Then she stepped back out into the livingroom. "All set." Her fur was combed her bag was packed and she was truly ready to step out the door. She wanted to show him that she could take care of herself and wouldn't be in the way once they got to their destination. She was planning on slipping the money to the taxi driver before he got the chance. It was only fair.

Drask nodded, "Once the taxi gets over here, we can get going." If the streets were as clear as the sky was then they would have no problem getting to the airport on time, as long the taxi was on time. He still didn't grasp why Jeff Meldrum needed his help up there, the deaths of those park rangers were sort of out of Drask's field of expertise. This expedition was the worst prepared one so far, Drask didn't have the proper equipment for Alaska, in fact the clothes he packed were barely warm enough if they went in the mountain ranges up there. If Jeff wanted him to examine the cause of the attack then that was still a bit out of his knowledge, if he wanted somebeast to figure the reason then Jeff should have called Dave Salmoni, a fellow naturalist that specialized in such things as this. Drask's thoughts were abrouptly ended when a car horn sounded, the taxi had arrived, and nearly two minute early.

Penny jumped at the sound of the horn even though she knew she should be expecting it. Then she looked at the clock and smiled. "Early. Well that's a good sign." She hurried out the door to the cab and jumped in sliding all the way over so Drask had plenty of room.

Drask picked up his suitcase and backpack, leaving his apartment yet again after only spending one night there. He closed the door behind them, made sure it was locked, and then he climbed into the taxi behind Penny. "SeaTac Airport." He gave the driver their destination, which was easily the most common one that beasts were driven to. Drask hoped they would make it on time to the airport, if Penny still wanted to come then they needed to exchange her ticket, that would be pretty long, unless things were running smoothly, which probably wasn't the case, that airport was one of the busiest places in the entire city.

As they drove Penny saw a red light coming up and felt the cab beginning to slow. Then she remembered a game she used to play as a child. It was something she had seen in a movie once. She smiled and blew at the light as if she were blowing out a birthday candle. It turned green and she laughed. They continued on at their faster speed. She looked over at Drask slightly embarrassed but not so much as to look for the next red light to speed them on their way.
