Silas sighed, glaring at the Abbess. He had a choice, didn't he? Well, the only problem with that was he couldn't decide. Sure, he wanted to express his sincere feelings for Tamar, but in front of everyone at their demand? It just didn't feel right. Besides, everyone had enough to think about already, what with the imminent vermin attack and the preperation thereof. It helped to remove distraction. He looked back at Tamar, hoping she would understand his hesitation to kiss her was because of the public, not her. His gaze conveyed something else as well... As if vaguely saying, Your choice...?

Tamar recognized the conflict going on inside Silas. She gave him an understanding smile. She didn't want him to kiss her because he was told to do so. She wanted it to be of his own free will. And it shouldn't be something shared with every beast in the abbey. It should be their's alone. But he did want to kiss her, that was plain on his face. She looked down at her paws trying to think of something, and then it came to her. Tamar stood, made another face at Saol, and then offered her paw to Silas. Technically he would still be following the Abbesses orders and they could save anything more personal for a later date and time.

Silas, seeing this, moved out of his seat as well, taking Tamar's paw. First glancing at the crowd for a millisecond, he looked back at Tamar again. As he was already close to her, he only needed to lean forward a little. Then he kissed her without another word.

Tamar, having thought he would merely kiss her paw, was stunned. If she could possibly get any redder she did so now. She looked into Silas's eyes, and smiled. There was a strange ringing in her ears. She wasn't sure how long she stood there staring at him and then the ringing diminished and she heard laughter, particular the deep bass laughter of her so-called friend. Tamar spun about in full temper and took after the little mole maid. Mother Abbess or not, Tamar was going to give Saol a piece of her mind. It was then that Saol knew she had gone too far. She took one look at Tamar ran off toward the kitchens. Tamar caught up with her just outside of Great Hall but her voice carried easily back into the room where the other beasts were still finishing their breakfast. ". . . HAD NO BUSINESS. . . MEDDLING IN OTHER CREATURES AFFAIRS . . . EMBARRASSING ME IN FRONT OF EVERYBEAST NOT TO MENTION SILAS. . . . AND YOU SUPPOSED TO BE IN CHARGE AND A ROLE MODEL. . . OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF . . . OUGHT TO BE CHUCKED OUT AND GET A NEW ABBESS!" With that final piercing comment Tamar left the mole and marched back through Great Hall and out into the cold winter morning without a backward glance.

Silas stood, wincing as he heard the squirrelmaid yelling at Saol. He himself, he thought, probably looked redder than the color itself, fit to bake a loaf of bread on his head from the heat. He sat down rather timidly, hoping that Tamar would be alright. He stared down at his food, and after everyone moved back to their own business, (which was quite awhile) he ate the rest of his breakfast in silence.
OOC: Lol different idea there^. New thread? I'll start...
